I don’t think Maybank is strict at all laugh.gif

Giving high limit perhaps but strict? Not even close.

Citibank on the other hand, unless you have 1 year record from other banks, mostly kena reject or no answer.

I saw somewhere is illegal to set a minimum amount for credit card/debit card usage right? For example above RM30 then only can use credit/debit card. Anyone tried to complain to BNM before?
*
I complaint to BNM before. Banks refunded the surcharges. As for those who impose minimum amount, they received some kinda warning letter from the merchant provider.

QUOTE(fruitie @ Jan 18 2018, 09:05 PM)
It's not illegal to allow CC usage with minimum spending. It's illegal to charge service charge for CC usage, usually I will just avoid those shops.
*
It's not illegal. It's just discouraged. BNM recently said no minimum amount should be imposed.

If you really want to be anal about it, just complaint. Someone would get a love letter from somewhere.

How do you make complain? As I bought my iPhone from Maxis, they included the 2% fees in the device price though sad.gif But Labuan is small, very limited, I just proceed to purchase from them.
*
Email -> Bnmtelelink

That should be the most efficient way. That 2% fee is definitely illegal.

But dont think bnm can tract that 2%, otherwise I will just provided breakdown, bnm will acknowledge receipt of our email?
*
I think I wrote a guide on how to complaint previously.

1. Take the credit card sales slip and compare it with your tax invoice.

Usually the amount in the cc slip would be higher by 2% since they surcharge you, but the tax invoice would be lower because of their compliance with GST.

2. Clip them on a nice piece of paper and highly the difference.

3. Fill up a dispute form from your bank, email it to YOUR BANK CREDIT CARD first.

4. If within 7 days no satisfaction answer or charges reversed, send the email together with proof to BNM and HIGHLIGHT that your bank has been informed but fail to act.

5. Wait for the panic phone calls to fly in.

Sifus, when you spend on Maybank credit card it doesn’t appear immediately on the app? Used to spend on debit card and immediate deduct.

Usually how long does the credit card transaction take to appear in my M2U transaction?
*
1~2 days. If merchant does not perform settlement, maybe longer.

Does any cc give cash rebate for housing loan down payment?
*
Yes, it’s considered as retail spending.

MBB FCB barcalona, HLB essential, HLB Fortune and few others would qualify for this.

Thou if the developer can accept Amex, I’d swipe Amex instead and redeem a flight ticket to London with that payment laugh.gif

I gave you the ones with no cap on spending already, I think.

There are others but I can’t seems to recall them laugh.gif

QUOTE(JamesBotak @ Jan 19 2018, 08:54 PM)
OT: The word "settlement" immediately made me remembered my case around 3 years ago when I used my debit card to purchase groceries at Mydin.

The transaction initially went through as usual but a few days after the transaction was posted, the charges was reversed. I called the bank and was told the merchant had issues with it's settlement and they will charge the initial amount again. At that time I felt like shit because the charges was reversed to my SA and was charged again as they wished.

My concern was for people who were not aware of the incident and had accidentally used the money which was reversed. I don't know how they would charge again if there isn't enough money in the person's SA.
*
That’s why I stopped using debit card. Money taken first but refunded 14 days later.

Nonsense

Edit : Just read LHDN etc allowed to charge.... is there a way I can find out if Hap Seng Star/Merc is allowed this as well??  hmm.gif
*
I hantam at Hap Seng star before last time at Bukit Bintang. No charges.

But that was when my friend was working at that branch la.

Anyways, you can check which are their merchant provider and call the merchant provider to find out.

Usually, on top of the credit card machine got write something.

Hi. Need help. Just wanna confirm.

I work for 9months already. Just restructured my ptptn loan last 4 months. Got car loan for 3 years. Never missed to pay my car loan.

My basic is rm 2k only. But my gross salary varied from 3.2k - 4k per month. Depends on overtime, claim etc.

Any chance for my cc application will be approved? And bank will call my company to confirm my status as their staff ka? My hr and colleague all very kepoh one. If the bank will call hr, then i dont wanna try la haha
*
Basically you can try your luck.

Some banks won’t bother to call your company if you’re a confirmed staff. Some would just call for courtesy.

But 4k variable income with commitments, you’ll probably get a basic card with average limit. Not that bad for starters la.

how not legit? btw for car/house loan if i pay late or i no pay only got penalty right? no interest right? i mean on the late payment amount itself unlike credit card
oh so only PTPTN so special la i see i see
wah all the sifu here no one tried before?
*
Who says housing loan no late penalty?

In fact, housing loan's late penalty costs even more than a 10% cash back you might earn from your CC easily....

Not worth doing something so risky just to gain a mere 5%. The hassle and headache's not worth the CBs.

Not when it comes to housing loans.

I understand that active credit cars will be shown in ccris report. And from the last 12 months i have 2 months where i forgot to pay my cc so i got 2 late charges. Though i already settled my remaining balance last month and its cleared now. Will that late payment affects me if i plan to get a car loan? Last late payment is 7 months ago. Do you think my car loan will get approved?
*
Should not be an issue if you settled it already.

Mistake happens.

Explain to the officer that you forgot to make 2 payments but were prompt in settling them afterwards.
