Affin Bank unveils mobile app to rejuvenate consumer segment

https://www.theedgemarkets.com/article/affi...onsumer-segment

KUALA LUMPUR (July 24): Affin Bank Bhd has introduced its own mobile application AffinPay, as it banks on consumers as well as small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to drive its loan growth this year.

Group chief executive officer Kamarul Ariffin Mohd Jamil said loan growth, targeted at three percent this year, will be driven by the two segments.

“AffinPay is one of our products in the consumer segment and we see this, alongside with more digital products to be launched in the future, as a key driver for the growth,” he told reporters after launching AffinPay and Affin Visa Signature credit card today.

Affin Bank had initially guided for loan growth of between six percent to seven percent this year, but it has also acknowledged that growth could actually come in lower due to economic uncertainties arising from the heightened US-China trade tensions.

Kamarul Ariffin elaborated that loan growth for consumers and SMEs has been steady.

“Motor insurance has been quite challenging, we see a bit of contraction and also a flattish corporate segment,” he added.

Meanwhile, he said Affin is eyeing about 30,000 Affin Visa Signature new credit card users in the first year of introduction, coming from its current 800,000 debit- and credit-card members.

The newly-launched Affin Visa Signature Credit Card offers three percent cash back for contactless transactions performed at retail outlets.

The monthly payment for the card is RM80 per month or RM960 per annum.

Visa International country manager (Malaysia) Ng Kong Boon said Visa contactless transactions per month stood at seven million transactions, reflecting 35 percent of total Visa face-to-face transactions in the country.

“Contactless transactions have grown three times and it is evident that Malaysians appreciate how fast, convenient and seamless contactless payments are, and with these products by Affin, we believe the growth of electronic payments in Malaysia would accelerate,” he said.

Just happened to notice AFFIN Visa Signature 3% cash back for contactless retail spend. (max rm80 cb per month)

1. Does this means this is limited to RM300 and below for every retail spend?
2. Website stated (3% Cash Back. Every Tap). I guess no minimum spend.
3. Anyone tried using this card to pay for insurance? Can get cb like Maybank FCB?
4. Petrol spend can get cb?
5. Online/e-wallet spend can get cb?

AFFIN VS seems better than SCB Liverpool (no tier based spend cb). Since I can't get Maybank FC Barcelona sad.gif this might be a better alternative for retail cb.
Notice: There is no Affin VS dedicated thread for discussion.
*
been discussing here. thumbsup.gif

1) no. of course you can spend more but cashback capped at RM80/month which translates to ~RM2,666.67 spending.
2) no min spend. just some category not eligible (government services & charity related transactions)
3) pay insurance at over-the-counter? should be ok, but still need to spend time/cost to go there, right? worth the 3% cb?
4) item (2). does your preferred petrol stations accept contactless/wave?
5) does these accept contactless/wave at the first place?

review the website and FAQ.

Hi, I'm not sure if this is suitable place to ask.
My statement shows a transaction every month to HE-ESB SHAH ALAM MY every 25th of month. Anyone knows anything about this merchant?
*
try call the bank's customer service.

ask for the merchant/company name. not sure if they have, but at least can try asking.

"HE-ESB SHAH ALAM MY" is just a description associated to the company, usually in short-form due to limitation in length.

Bank Rakyat´s new credit card offers 5 pct cashback on hotel, airline purchases

http://bernama.com/en/news.php?id=1772200

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 27 (Bernama) -- Bank Rakyat has become the first bank in Malaysia to launch a travel credit card-i that offers customers a 5% cashback on any hotel and airline ticket purchases up to RM1,000 per annum.

Bank Rakyat acting managing director Datuk Rosman Mohamed said the Bank Rakyat Platinum Explorer Credit Card-i was a collaboration product with Mastercard.

“With over six million customers and a total card base of 2.2 million currently, we aim to attract 1,000 new applicants per month for this newly launched credit card.

“As at August this year, we have more than 400,000 credit cardholders and we are confident of achieving the target, aimed specifically at young Malaysian travellers based on the increased demand for intra-regional spending,” he told a press conference after the launch here today.

He said Bank Rakyat sees strong growth in overseas and travel-related spending that makes the launch of this travel credit card as timely to better serve the burgeoning travel segment.

The Bank Rakyat Platinum Explorer Credit Card-i is a Shariah-compliant credit card that specially tailored for the frequent travellers’ segment.

Meanwhile, Mastercard Asia-Pacific Pte Ltd country manager Perry Ong said the card also marked a milestone for Mastercard as it features a soon-to-be-launched global cash rebate programme that allows Mastercard cardholders to enjoy exclusive, automatic overseas cashback offers when they travel and shop.

“Mastercard cards have become the complete travel companion. Together with Mastercard’s curated offers and exclusive privileges to shop, eat, stay and play at destinations around the globe, cardholders will be able to make the most of every travel moment, from planning to exploring at their chosen destination,” Ong added.

The benefits of the newly launched credit card include complimentary three times access to Plaza Premium Lounges in Malaysia per year, access to Mastercard Priceless Cities and Priceless Specials offers, earn Rakyat Reward points to redeem cash, a zero markup on foreign exchange and no annual fee.

All Bank Rakyat credit cardholders also will enjoy unlimited five per cent petrol cashback every Thursday at all petrol stations nationwide from October 2019 to December 2019.

Finally registered for e-ccris.

1. After downloading the report, what is the password to open the PDF? I used back the login password but doesn't work.
add: found the answer under FAQ

2. Is it possible to retrieve the report for previous years, eg. 2017, 2018?

TQ
*
dont think can query old data. the report only query "current 12 months" snapshot.

suggest you periodically save the report .. and append the password behind the filename.

e.g.

ECCRISRPT_03OCT2019_01-30-20PM_{password}.pdf

Hi guys i have a dumb question. its my first time using my CC.

I had activated 2 of my UOB cards in 22 Spe 2019.

i had used both cards for spending. The weird thing is when i saw my UOB app the payment amount due is RM 0 for Oct 08.

i have some question regarding the CC

1. can i repay the amount early ? will it affect my credit score ? because i paid early and system didn't detect i had spending on my both cards

2. izit true that i need to pay separately with both of my cards ? my mom told me that i cannot only combine the amount of both cards and pay them in one CC account.

3. i dont really understand my bill cycle. i do read the thread summary about the 50 days repayment period. but im still confuse. maybe this is my first month of owning the CC. so the bill cycle is abit confuse to me.
*
1) yes can pay early. payment and spending are two different transactions.

2) yes, pay to EACH card. use the card number as account number.

3) new user, need to wait until 1st statement is generated. since you mentioned "paymount amount due = RM0", meaning statement has not been generated yet. Does the welcome letter inform you of your statement date? else, can give CS a call to enquire too.

curious, what is "Oct 08"?

Is there any way to auto deduct saving account from the statement balance everytime the bill is here? Or manual pay is the only way for any bank?

PS: sorry if anyone has asked it before, can't find ways to do it.
*
maybank, yes .... maybank savings -> maybank cc

from diff bank to diff bank, definitely no.

think about it, how does the other bank KNOW the balance from another bank?

each bank is not linked, it cant peer into your other bank's details. in fact, you WANT that to happen? laugh.gif
