We cant write a letter to amd-ati regarding of releasing their GCs faster right? haha... so have to be patient.. anyway.. since nvidia's DX10 is out first.. so i might get my hands on 8800. but currently waiting for pc fair first.. wanna see whether got price drop or not.. coz im not in a hurry to use it.. haha.. not playing any games which requires DX10 nowadays.. unless C&C3 is out!!! woo hoo.... p/s: sorry out of topic. |

Maybe i'm one of the few strange one, but i much prefer EA's C&C:Generals over the old WestWood C&C which i actually hate. Hopefully, with this, EA will be able to improve on the old and new. btw, gamers.com.my is taking pre-order until 21st March only...a few days to go only. RM99...i think i'm gonna book mine already. |

why both the 8600Gt and GTS have different colour PCB ???
significant difference in terms of the design and components ??? anyway judging from the fan size, is GTS a higher end version of 8600 series compare to GT ?? well i doubt the price would be cheap for 8600GTS and GT, i still remember 6600GT and 7600GT came time the price hitting 1k...... but 8800GTS price around RM1200 at launch may just force them to come out lower |

It's interesting dat PC hardwares nowardays consume more power than earlier
Even mid-range card nowardays like 8600GTS also required external PCI-E power supply New hardware not power efficient as their ancestors? |

QUOTE(jcliew @ Mar 15 2007, 11:09 PM) It's interesting dat PC hardwares nowardays consume more power than earlier Performance/watt wise, newer hardware is a lot better. It's just that the performance has grown so much. The other problem with parallel processing is you can easily increase performance by increasing parallelism (more hardware) which leads to more power.Even mid-range card nowardays like 8600GTS also required external PCI-E power supply New hardware not power efficient as their ancestors? |

If yes, FTW For situations where it is not bandwidth constrained, i would not be too surprised if it outperforms the x1950. Hope to see 8600 launched in the April's PC FAIR as opening ceremony product.! hahaha... |

You can have pin compatible chips with different architectures. They've done it before, and it's not exactly new to the industry. Just look at CPUs, especially intel's line up at the moment.Using a pin compatible chip for a new architecture doesn't make it much easier for the chip manufacturer. The chip is hard to make, the PCB is relatively simple. So the second part of your assumption is not true. |

Nvidia's 65nm will be around september or later. G84 and G86 are 80nm. Sorry dude, forgot 2 mention that it's AMD 65nm chips. I do know there already plenty of 65nm chips available on market by Intel Yes, they already have 65nm CPUs. This post has been edited by jcliew: Mar 19 2007, 11:39 PM |

QUOTE(jcliew @ Mar 19 2007, 11:36 PM) This one should be 8600GTS dude! Take a closer look, there is an external PCI-E power connector and this feature only available on 8600GTS model You are correct! I guess I just copy and paste bluntly Furthermore the label on d fan sink also labeled 8600GTS |

I thought R600 has been delayed again with no-show at CEBIT? I think they can't beat Nvidia performance, thus, revamp it to make sure it can beat Nvidia before making announcement.

Haha, that's true. Let both companies war, price drops, we happy. I will actually wait abit longer. Waiting nVIDIA to release new 8-series like 8900GT. See how new cards perform.

Then again........
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « http://www.vr-zone.com/?i=4864 8800GTS is about RM1100-RM1200. How much it can drop? RM800-900? 8600GTS is about RM700-800. Kinda impossible to think. |

After R600 is out, if the 8800gts 320mb is drop, sure grab it..coz 8600gts now is arround rm800.., then the new price of 8800gts 320mb would be arround rm900-1000..(max 1100)
so, adding rm200-300 can turn 8600gts to 8800gts - 128bit to 320bit - 256mb to 320mb only those who have the $, i suggest take 8800gts 320mb and above..(a new dx10 world) if not, just take 8600gt (bulk can get rm550)..then, when rich, sell of and go for 8800gts..yeah!! |
