RV630XT rumors said june 2007, some say may 2007. Not quite sure.. amd-ati can always change their dates to release... so.. all we can do is just wait... We cant write a letter to amd-ati regarding of releasing their GCs faster right? haha... so have to be patient.. anyway.. since nvidia's DX10 is out first.. so i might get my hands on 8800. but currently waiting for pc fair first.. wanna see whether got price drop or not.. coz im not in a hurry to use it.. haha.. not playing any games which requires DX10 nowadays.. unless C&C3 is out!!! woo hoo.... p/s: sorry out of topic. tongue.gif

Pheeww...no need to upgrade yet. smile.gif

Maybe i'm one of the few strange one, but i much prefer EA's C&C:Generals over the old WestWood C&C which i actually hate. Hopefully, with this, EA will be able to improve on the old and new.

btw, gamers.com.my is taking pre-order until 21st March only...a few days to go only. RM99...i think i'm gonna book mine already. smile.gif

why both the 8600Gt and GTS have different colour PCB ???
significant difference in terms of the design and components ???

anyway judging from the fan size, is GTS a higher end version of 8600 series compare to GT ??

well i doubt the price would be cheap for 8600GTS and GT, i still remember 6600GT and 7600GT came time the price hitting 1k......

but 8800GTS price around RM1200 at launch may just force them to come out lower

High-end = Card name = *9**

Mid-end = Card name = *7** ,*6**
and suffix = Ultra, XT, GT

Entry-level = Card name = *5**,*4**,*3**,*2**,*1**
and suffix = MX, Ti, GS, Le

well..atleast this is what i think..

neways..no 8600Ultra??? hmm.gif

It's interesting dat PC hardwares nowardays consume more power than earlier hmm.gif
Even mid-range card nowardays like 8600GTS also required external PCI-E power supply sweat.gif
New hardware not power efficient as their ancestors?

Performance/watt wise, newer hardware is a lot better. It's just that the performance has grown so much. The other problem with parallel processing is you can easily increase performance by increasing parallelism (more hardware) which leads to more power.

All I want to know is whether the rumours of the top flight RV630 outgrunts an X1950 in 3D Mark is really true or not. If yes, FTW

For situations where it is not bandwidth constrained, i would not be too surprised if it outperforms the x1950. This is assuming it is a half R600 part (evidence strongly suggests that this is true).

Price will go down a bit but not long. After that it'll extinct and replaced by respective 8300/8600 which will have slightly higher price of their old replacement model.

Lol... maybe it's exactly X1950, only chipset changed and support DX10 only.. lol... just for laughs.

My piece of advice for agp users.. wait what la... migrate to pci-e lo... agp cards' price is always Rm100~200 higher then pci-e... not worth it.. i just migrated.. rclxm9.gif

8300 will not come out so fast until 8600 is out... just my guess..

Hope to see 8600 launched in the April's PC FAIR as opening ceremony product.! hahaha...

it don't think so, coz it was a different architecture, it should be hv it own pcb to make it work, if that simple, use old pcb desin put dx10 chipset amd should release the card long time ago...

You can have pin compatible chips with different architectures. They've done it before, and it's not exactly new to the industry. Just look at CPUs, especially intel's line up at the moment.

Using a pin compatible chip for a new architecture doesn't make it much easier for the chip manufacturer. The chip is hard to make, the PCB is relatively simple. So the second part of your assumption is not true.

As ikanayam has stated, it's not unprecedented. One need to just look at 8600. Essentially the PCB is the same as 7600 which in turn is the same that 6600 uses. NVIDIA did state their intention maintain prices of GC's for mid range by utilising same pin outs unless there was a major change in archetecture

65nm process still not using in fabricating graphic chips yet. D latest process is 80nm for graphic chips fabrication if i not mistaken hmm.gif

This one should be 8600GTS dude! Take a closer look, there is an external PCI-E power connector and this feature only available on 8600GTS model blush.gif
Furthermore the label on d fan sink also labeled 8600GTS brows.gif

We'll be seeing a couple of 65nm GPUs quite soon from AMD. Nvidia's 65nm will be around september or later. G84 and G86 are 80nm.
Yes, they already have 65nm CPUs.

Sorry dude, forgot 2 mention that it's AMD 65nm chips. I do know there already plenty of 65nm chips available on market by Intel rclxub.gif

I thought R600 has been delayed again with no-show at CEBIT? I think they can't beat Nvidia performance, thus, revamp it to make sure it can beat Nvidia before making announcement.

Haha, that's true. Let both companies war, price drops, we happy. I will actually wait abit longer. Waiting nVIDIA to release new 8-series like 8900GT. See how new cards perform.

less bit rate, less preformance...

but don't compare 7 series with 8 series, even 7series hv 256bit it still can't beat 8600gt/s, new architecture, more powerful, more advance

After R600 is out, if the 8800gts 320mb is drop, sure grab it..coz 8600gts now is arround rm800.., then the new price of 8800gts 320mb would be arround rm900-1000..(max 1100)

so, adding rm200-300 can turn 8600gts to 8800gts
- 128bit to 320bit
- 256mb to 320mb

only those who have the $, i suggest take 8800gts 320mb and above..(a new dx10 world)

if not, just take 8600gt (bulk can get rm550)..then, when rich, sell of and go for 8800gts..yeah!!

the RM899 one is price for 8600GTS. 8600GT is onli priced at around RM500++ which is better in price-performance IMO.
