QUOTE(Everdying @ Mar 16 2007, 03:07 PM) btw, if you're ordering from musicians friend. Maybe its better if i order through sweelee, but then, they do not ship to Malaysia and they might jack up the price sky high.they have no such thing as export model, as they dont do that market in the first place. and sweelee does special orders for the epi valve junior. but of cos, the customary deposit is required, which they require 30%. |

I just came back from BeatSpot.....
Played the heck out of that Zakk Wylde Epi Camo.... Honestly..... still too bright for my tastes....... prefer the tone of my Bullseye and the EMG actives...... Not much new there though. Hmmmmmmmm...... I wonder.... if we order THROUGH Yamaha.... maybe we can get the Epiphone Valve amp from Swee Lee singapore???? Makes me drool...... actually for guitars, you should be glad its brighter and not darker.
its always better and easier to cut high end, then to add on. |

That's true....... but I REALLY like the Camo...... TEMPTATION..........
Oh well. I checked out Musician's Friend and I converted the Price of an Epi So-Cal Tube Head and Cab and it comes up to about RM2800....... RM3500 also I wouldn't mind getting it from Swee Lee/Yamaha! Yeah.... it's no JCM800 (Or Even a Ceriatone)...... But RM3500 and I get a WHOLE Half Stack and Head?? Sweeeeeeeeeeeeet |

Like say gather 5 people who are interested and order through them.Played the heck out of that Zakk Wylde Epi Camo.... Either that or i may try music123 cuz AFAIK they do export, and i'll ask for the export models This post has been edited by ^Hobbes^: Mar 16 2007, 08:29 PM |

If its classified as personal effect its only 10%
From my previous experience, i bought an epi lp custom, metronome, hardcase, schaller lock, gig bag, dimarzio cables in one shipment and they tax me 10% only And if my parents carried it for me and they are not carrying other taxable items chances are high that they can pass through customs without hassle. |

the 30% tax applies to electrical equipments.
guitar does not fall under that, it only falls into the individual custom officer's pocket. |

unless malaysia abolished it, then far as i know theres always been a 30% import tax on amps etc.
the metronome is a waste of time for them to tax if its an individual, get what from it? RM5? blah. now an amp, 30% can net you a couple hundred RM to at least a thousand. if im not mistaken, the 10% you got taxed on is a sales tax, which is standard for all goods. import tax is another thing altogether.
