I could like to seek advise.... My amex been fraud and been charged rm9k+. I called card centre to blocked my card. I also submitted my dispute form. May I know anyone here successful in dispute? The amount is too huge as the CS asked me to pay first. Should I pay first (but not I spend it) or drag it? thanks

It depends on the type of transaction. If it's internet transaction without OTP (SMS) verification, high chances the dispute will be successful. If it's transaction performed at merchant's terminal, then it will takes time as MBB need to liaise with the merchant's bank for proof of purchase.

If it's disputed, do you have to pay first? what are the chances of getting the money back?

usually fraud is done via internet. it's too risky to do at merchant. can i ask if it's a local or overseas transaction? usually they're in USD.

I had that fraud on my amex few months ago. Immediately called call centre to block and cancel the card. I also submitted my dispute form at the bank when I went to retrieve my new card.
When the statement came, I didn't pay for the fraud charges. So the following month statement, I got charged for not paying, I called the call centre again and they waived it.

Yes you are right the 5% weekend cash back is only applicable during weekends for the AMEX card. However, the 5x treat points is applicable every day except for certain categories which gets you 1x treat points only. These are all for AMEX only. The Visa/Mastercard is pretty much useless if you ask me.

thank you for clearing the doubts. it means I will get the 2 cards, but majority of the time, I will be using AMEX, and the gold/platinum will be for decorative purpose...I am a small timer, using my OCBC great eastern for Jusco, Tesco, Bubba Gump, McDonald, Digi, Shell, insurance policy...(these pretty much sums up where 30% of my monthly income goes to, the other 70% goes to wife...) so I think the maybank 2 card can replace my OCBC...right?

you need to check if those merchants accept amex. most big stores like Jusco, Tesco, Digi have no problem accepting amex, not sure about the others...

my suggestion is to keep another card besides amex as a backup..

You have to wait for approval from the bank. Mine took about 3 days. If in doubt, you can contact ringgitplus
