i also had attended SI on the same day as you,on 26th June 2012...

also had the same case study and role play..hahaha..what a coincidence right!

i got a call from HR saying that i am recommended on 10th July 2012 and they will contact me if there's further development...

i was puzzled and confused..did i get the job or not..?

i called them everyday since 10th July, but the answer they give is the same everytime..

i can't sit tight not knowing the answer, whether i got the job or not...

btw,what position did u apply?and did you called them for follow ups and updates?

You need a lot of patience when dealing with their HR.

Normal rule, which is find the vacancy first before calling candidates for interview doesn't apply at PETRONAS.
In fact, strange as it seems, their method is backwards. They'll call you for interview first, and find the vacancy (for the successful candidates) later.

That's why, some candidates only secured their positions after a year of being recommended,
while some others were not offered any, although recommended at first (passed the SI).

So all you could do right now is keep praying, and keep calling them until the vacancy arises.

i applied for the position of Governance & Assurance. actually i'm not really into that position. i just clicked on all the job vacancies at their website & got a call from them to attend this interview. but since i'm bored with my current job, i'm really looking forward to dis new company.

i didnt call them. instead i just emailed their HR staffs & so far no reply from them

if i didnt get any response by next week..looks like i have to start job-hunting AGAIN

in ur case...i think the waiting period is like 6 months. after 6 months no +ve response, it is considered unsuccesful

dun worry...my prayer always goes to the both of us. hopefully there will be a light at the end of the tunnel

you're right..that's why i'm so confused when they say i'm recommended but have to wait for available position..
i thought when they called me for interview they already have an opening...

been praying really hard since the interview..really hope to get in..it's quite a good place to start a career

Added on July 18, 2012, 11:17 amohh..so,you're from what background?? actually,if u really not into that position,you can ask for other position during the interview... or just called the HR to let them know..because in the form they give also have a few choices for area of interest...

btw, they won't entertain any e-mail..i've tried e-mailing before,got no response that's why i called them..

i think the HR exec is already annoyed answering my calls..i can sense from her tone of voice...hahaha

i stopped calling for a few days now,give them some time..gonna start calling again soon...

so i borrowed a pen from this one guy who happened to be chem engineer also..

Hope you get the job in Petronas. Petronas requires a lot of geologist and after 2-3 years, you'll be streamed into the technical ladder on TIER 1 remuneration scheme. Good luck.
