Hello,
i need some advise from your guys,
i already attend my SI and i received an email from hr that i have to attend pre employment medical examination, and i aleady doing my check up, my question is, i have wait approximate 3 weeks the result. My question is
1. How long i must wait to get the medical result? anyone from this thread canshare their experience?
2.  I read thisthread,  that hr will send offer letter, when can i the offfer letter?  is it after medical examination?
3.  The offer letter is post to our adress or we have to go to klcc to get it.
Kindly advise. Tq.
*
Which clinic/hosp that you went? lol. The most is only 1 week and some hosp can get the med result in 1 day provided that they have their own lab to do the blood analysis. Next time please call each clinic in the list and ask them about the duration before going to do the medical check up. smile.gif

OPU                       : PETRONAS Carigali Sdn Bhd
Location               : Kerteh, Terengganu
can anyone give the job descriptions about the position...is it offshore?

Onshore. It is kinda boring as you have to review a lot of docs, conduct PASR, HAZOP, HAZID and etc, ensuring all the MOCs are followed, so on and so on. All the best! rclxms.gif

From my experience, i get back my medical result after 3 weeks. I did my medical checkup at klinik wilayah labuan. It was very slow for me. I advised, you should do your medical checkup at PUSRAWI and you will get the result in the same day.

For my case, my offer letter was prepared before my medical result was out. After the HR issued medical checkup letter, they issued my offer letter three days after that since medical result can be issued within 3 days. They just need to see that you are fit to work with Petronas. That's all.

The HR will ask you to come to klcc to pick up your offer letter, that's for my case. They will explain about the offer and forms you needed to fill and send them back to HR. You will need one to two days to fill the forms.

Added on September 12, 2012, 10:54 pmI will be joining Petronas1 oct. I am seconded to PRSB.

I heard, there will be technical allowances for those who are doing technical things apart from the basic salary.

Since my background is petroleum engineering, I will be group under skg10. Anybody know what is skg10.

thanks
*
SKG 9 and SKG 10 are placed in tier 1 and after working 1 year, you will get tech allowance of RM1k incorporate into your basic salary.
Cheers.

Im not sure about new salary grade..but they have implemented new job grade..low e1,hi e1..low e2 and low e2..and so on...
*
Yeah, that is what I heard and also it will not based on ACD results nemore, it will be based only performance and num of years.
Well for me, if you are in technical service, the number of years does not necessarily depict your competency. i.e. in 5 years, you may learn more/experience more/gain more exposure at OPU A compared to OPU B. It is quite subjective. Nevertheless, we will just have to wait and see then. biggrin.gif All the best!

Don't put your hopes too high. Should the one that's called you is Carigali's, there's no guarantee that you'll be offered a position according to your qualifications and/ or background.

Having said that, chances to get hired are pretty high though, as they've been hiring like crazy for quite some time now. September alone, those attending and scheduled to attend PIPE are as high as 300++ people.
*
Hiring new grads to replace the experienced staffs who resigned/moved to other companies is never a good move especially in technical position. It takes very long time to develop the fresh grads in terms of technical skills, networking and etc. Sigh.

Mangoman,
The new job grade structure already implemented effective july...but i dunno y hr does not make any official announcement.sight..if u are an e1 promoted to low e2 you will get only half of the salary increment as compared to the old structure..

It will take u 3 years in each grade beforepromotion..fyi,this new structure not really new..it was implemented way way back in the 90s..

The reason for this based on my hr manager because nowdays too many inmature young manager...even you are good in ur technical line, but it will takes a diff skills to manage a dept and subordinate..

Lucky for those who got promoted earlier..now gonna take longer for promotion..its like the opposite of acd..
*
In July? I don't hear anything from my HR yet. Hmm. hmm.gif Whatever it is, it only carries the title, what is more important is the salary though last time E1 to E1 will only have an increase of RM1k only. So currently the promotion will not based on ACD results nemore?
p/s: Like that I don't have to study so hard for my ACD assessment tongue.gif

Effective from 1/1/2012, the industrial training allowance for PETRONAS sponsored students doing compulsory industrial training/internship in PETRONAS Group of Companies or any other local companies is increased to RM800 per month per student. The allowance of RM800 per month is subjected to condition that the host company did not pay any allowances to the student. For students receiving some allowances from Host Company, their entitlement will be limited to the difference.

This change will not affect other non-PETRONAS sponsored students doing industrial training/internship in PETRONAS Group of Companies.

Other terms and conditions of the industrial training/internship remain unchanged.

What about the travelling cost to their leadership centre for the purpose of attending PIPE? Do we have to bear the expenses on our own by booking own flights/ buses etc?

Also, in the offer letter, it states that we are required to "where application, obtain the necessary employment pass as required by Malaysian Governmental Authorities." What is this?? Is it directed to non-Malaysians who have no working permit??

Sorry for the noob questions.  sweat.gif

Inb4 call the HR and ask yourself
*
Yes, you have to bear the cost to go there.
This apply to West Malaysians who are acquired to work in East Malaysia as you need working permit for that.

Listen to bro AtMostFear and azraeil.

I faced the same situation too, except that I had had a job offer waiting for me to sign immediately. I eventually signed that offer and worked for a month plus before I tendered my resignation recently. The employers cannot stop you from resigning, as long as you fulfill the T&C. It is only true that it is hard to attend interviews when you have a job, but since you have already attended SI, there is anything to worry about except taking leave for medical check up.

Just continue hunting for other jobs while waiting.

Added on October 28, 2012, 11:41 amHey guys.. in the summary of benefits extracted from Executive Handbook sent to me along with my offer letter, it states that an executive who is based in East Malaysia will be paid a monthly EM allowance at 10% of his/ her basic salary. I am wondering does it also apply to East Malaysians who are working in EM? Or it is limited to those West Malaysians who relocate to EM?

Inb4 asking the HRs on your own
*
It applies to ANYONE (permanent exes) who work in East Malaysia.

Thanks for your reply. It is reassuring to know that albeit the process might be slow. I would love to try out new environment and new things after 2-3 at my soon-to-be OPU.
*
Nowadays it is getting harder, you need to get up to VP PM level for the final approval before you can transfer to a different OPU.

hi all

just wanna ask about medical checkup. is it medical checkup for offshorer harder/tougher to pass than ordinary medical checkup? what is the different between medical checkup for offshorer and the ordinary one?
*
It's the same, they check on your blood, urine test, audiometry, x-ray on chest and etc. BMI has to be watched out so that you can go offshore. But if your blood pressure or sugar level is high, than your offshore medical extension maybe just 6 months or 1 year, depending on the doctor.

I'm not so understand about the term 'extension'. is it mean 'passed/approved' and have to do it again for every 6 month/1 year to update?
*
Means if you are given 6 months only, then you have to redo your medical checkup after 6 months.

the skill group post that is petroleum engineering based (re, drilling, p tech) is classified as SKG10 while G&G related post (petrophysicist, geologist, geophysicist, sedimentologist, etc) is classified as SKG9. and both these classes are located on the top of the skill group pyramid level, tier 1. position such as mech eng, ee eng, structural eng is classified as SKG16 and they are located in tier 2 in the pyramid. iinm, they are 4 tier total in petronas. i couldnt remember all to discuss here unfortunately.

having said this, yes, being in tier 1 in petronas would be paid higher compared to other skill group in the organization.
*
There are only 3 tiers. smile.gif

QUOTE(iamloco @ Nov 13 2012, 10:56 PM)
Tq for the info!  thumbup.gif
*
To be honest with you, Tier 1 will get RM1000 tech allowance which will be absorbed into your basic salary. Tier 2 will get RM800. Tier 3 none. So in short, you are only RM200 more than other discipline engineers. smile.gif

Edit: You only receive that tech allowance after 1 year of service. Hehe. icon_idea.gif

QUOTE(pandikar @ Nov 14 2012, 02:39 PM)
Yup. It's a simple math.

After 1 year (let say there's no increment):

Tier 3 in peninsular: rm4000

Tier 2 in east msia: rm4000 + rm800 (tech allowance) + rm 400 (EM allowance)

Difference: rm1200.
*
You are wrong. The tech allowance will be absorbed into you basic salary. So after 1 year (assuming there is no increment), RM4800 (basic salary including the incorporated tech allowance) + RM 480 (10% EM allowance) = RM5280. smile.gif

QUOTE(pandikar @ Nov 14 2012, 06:29 PM)
The technical allowance is a bit tricky.
Some say you'll get it after confirmation, which is after 6 months. While some say after 1 year in service.
*
No need to listen to some say, hear say or whatever say. It is after one year in service. Cheers.

Getting promoted is not easy as many people think. But now, HR is going to revised promotion garde from 7 grades to 14 grades to ease people to be promoted. Last time you need to achieve 80% of ACD to be E2. With new scale, 50% you can move the next grade.

So, where is skg25? tier?
*
Partially right. Now you have high and low for each grade. i.e. E1 has E1 high and E1 low, E2 has E2 high and E2 low, etc.
E1 low to E1 high, you need to achieve ACD 50%, achieved rating 2 before or achieve consecutive 2times rating 3 within 3 years and etc. The increment will be RM500. From E1 high to E2 low, you need to achieve ACD 80% and etc. Will roll out in Nov.

*
I believe you are an experienced staff so the HR offer you around RM5k salary and normally you might not be entitled to the tech allowance nemore in your basic salary. Best still, check with the HR and ensure you can the black and while. smile.gif

Thanks abang azraeil for ur patient in answering my question.
Would we get any increment in our basic salary after one year? If yes, normally how many percent? Is the increment based on ur ppa rating?
*
Yes, based on PPA rating. For last year because it was not a full financial year (9 months only), so rating 3 get 8%, 2 get 9% whereas 1 get 10%.

When I go through my ACD TI&R Ruler (reservoir technology sub-discipline of RE), there is no E1, it starts with E2 (level 3) with an average rating 1. Can u explained, I am a bit confused here. Plus mine has base, key, pacing and emerging.

Coz you already at E1 so that's why no E1 column. In order for you to go to E2, you need to refer to the E2 column.
P/S: In other words, you need to achieve 50%/80% in base and key for you to move to E1 high/E2 low.
