Hey mangoman, thanks for your responds!

During my chitchat session with upstream, the manager mentioned that I have the opportunity to go offshore even though I don't have any technical background, the reason being is for exposure. And they also involve in handling events/forum/talks apart of doing normal office jobs. Then I asked the downstream manager if they have such things, and the answer is no.

I feel like the upstream has more to offer to me.

Based on your experience, can a person receive 2 job offers from two different department at the same time?
I'd love to join upstream but they still haven't confirmed me anything...
*
Yes, it is possible, i have quite a num of colleagues received up to 3 offers at the same time from different subsidiaries of PETRONAS.

EPF employer contribution = 15% flat regardless of position / years of service

3 years ago when i attended PIPE, i was told if your years of service is less than 5 years, the employer EPF contribution is 13%, once your years of service reach 5 years, you will get 15% and AL increases to 20days.

Hi bro, just wondering, for a new hire to be eligible for bonus, apart from being confirmed, does he or she need to work "more than 6 months" or "at least 6 months"? Just wondering as I will be starting on 1st July, meaning it won't be in the "more than" category.
*
Highly unlikely but even if there is, it will be pro-rated. biggrin.gif

I know about confirmation and pro-rated stuffs, I've worked with 5 companies before joining PETRONAS. Thanks anyway.

Seems like no one can answer my question. Never mind then I'll just let it pass, not hoping for anything just being curious.
*
Sorry bro, you know in PETRONAS especially related to HR matters, there are so many unwritten rules that no one can explain why/how. Just like we had adjustment early this year due to changes in the job grade structure, everyone gets different amount but nobody knows exactly how the value is determined.
So my advice is, don't take anything for granted until the money has been banked in to your account. It works all the time. smile.gif

QUOTE(fe2q @ Apr 17 2013, 12:19 AM)
hye guys..

just want to share..

i got my 1st interview in middle of december with one of the OPU..then, after a while..did my SI on 7th FEB..its quite a long time since need to ding dong with KLCC..

then.. i know my results within one week..but still didnt receive any GL from KLCC to do for medical checkup since the OPU said that need to wait for KL to give GL.. until..the HOD himself call me to ask on progress in middle march and quite shocked since I didnt proceed for medical yet.. then, maybe he pushed for the HR, KL issued the GL on 20th Mar.. i asked them to change the hospital from PCMC to hospital near to my house in southern region..

After 3 days, i knew the results since I make friend with the nurse there.haha.. and parcel arrived at KLCC by next week.. then, I said to KL to issued my offer letter asap because if not, I will need months of tender letter..

and my offer letter was issued in first week of april..KL shipped out the offer letter package to my house. filled up and sent back. I did email the KL HR regarding something that I was not clear regarding the numerous forms and HR did reply asap. i mean less than one hour because I said that i will sent out by the same day to catch the deadline.  nod.gif

Conclusion: for my case, they will move faster when there is urgency. or got push for expedite from OPU or perhaps your future boss.

bro azreil or anyone; i have one questions, if i were transferred to East malaysia, what is the possibilities to be transferred to KLCC? I mean, is it possible?hmm.. because i myself dont want to stuck too long at EM..huu.. (future boss already warned me, in future after working 3 years dont ask me to transfer you to KL..at least you need 5 years here..then he gelak).. my future post is instrument.

thanks a lot:)
*
Working in East Malaysia is like a black hole, once you get in, it is quite hard to come out. You need at least 5 or 7 years. smile.gif
Good luck! laugh.gif

hi. got some questions about GTS. what's it like working in that group? is it true we have to travel A LOT? how often and how long do we have to go on outstation assignment?
*
It depends on your project and assignment, working in GTS is like a service providers to other OPUs, so you do need to travel to other OPUs from time to time to solve their problem and give them technical advise.

It really depends on the project that you are involved it so couldn't really confirm your question until you start your job. smile.gif
Nevertheless, just a hint for you, if you travel a lot, then you will earn a lot also. Hehe.

May I know, what is the scope of work for position Executive(Offshore facilities engineering) ? I have been offered this position and will need to report duty on 17th jun 2013. Do I need to go to the offshore often?
*
Cannot tell you on the scope of works since the position that you mentioned is not really specific. Are you involve in the FIP (Facilities Improvement Project)? Or you are doing maintenance on the offshore facilities?

What about seeding position in petronas? I just learnt that is position for fresh graduate. Any extra info?
*
Normally fresh grads they will put you as seeding since you do not have a dedicated "box" for you yet. So you will be directly reporting to your HOD. It depends on your luck and your determination, it takes quite a while for you to change from seeding to a dedicated indicator. Some can up to 2-3years.

Hi

This is my first time posting here in lowyat forum. So mind me asking noob qs. biggrin.gif
Been reading this thread from the beginning (skipped many pages tho).

So Im joining Petronas this Mid june, gonna attend the PIPE starting 17th June.
So here is my question

1. What issit like working in petronas KLCC? Fyi,Im a fresh graduates from UiTM ( graduated Nov 2012) and
this is my first time working.I really have no idea what to expect.

2. What to expect at PIPE,issit gonna be all talks and ceramah and all? Whats the activities like? 2 week so long  cry.gif
Give me some idea on what to expect? icon_question.gif

Thanks!
*
1st question cant really answer you exactly coz it will depend on your job description and scope of works.
2nd question, it is very fun actually, not only just talk, there are some outdoor activities, community service, presentation, group activities and etc. Once you finish PIPE session, you wish you have it longer than 2 weeks, trust me. biggrin.gif

wow, the level of spoon feeding on the expectations are doh.gif
i assume those with 89-90s nick means they were born those years which explains the spoon feeding.

how does one, who went through all the interview, getting job offer and still asking details on the job? Is the job description not specifically mentioned in the job advert? shouldn't all these question asked to the technical manager that was in the interview session?

miaopurr : worried about travelling? then don't work la. if GTS no consulting business with OPUs, then GTS can close shop. Many GTS new engineer (so called consultants) are being sent to OPU to be train and gain experience, but some of them wanted to show that THEY are consultants and they know better than these senior engineers in OPU.  doh.gif

mzdiey : executive rotating job at plant? google la bro.

mangoman is very patient in answering the question. he has a lot of time to spare i believe  thumbup.gif
*
Not about the spare time, just that some questions are quite funny here, the answer is getting repetitive. tongue.gif

Azraeil, since 2007? Hmm i wonder why few of my friends were being slapped with warning letter regarding breach contract then appeal.

thanks mangoman ! did not hear from any resigning colleague recently.

Maybe they are now accepting the fact that they could not keep their scholars forever or at least 10yrs .
*
At here, we almost have 2-3 senior engineers resign every month. Sigh. Talking about staff retention program.

Totally agreed with you. At the end of the day, most of them left because they are frustrated with the current system and also want to be close to their family.
