Short answer .... NO. We are still producing close to 10 million barrels of oil per day (that's close to 20 times what Malaysia is currently producing) and there is a lot more in the ground. We have been producing at this rate close to 20 years ... giler ... The problem is that the domestic consumption is growing at an extremely fast rate and there are analyst (you can google Saudi Arabia domestic oil consumption) and you get some scary prediction ...

The thing is ... the harder it is to find the oil, the higher it is the company will pay you (as the price of oil will spike). Fundamentals of Supply and Demand in Economics 101.

Wow, 10 million barrels of oil or 10 million of equivalent oil per day? Hehe. How much is their estimated total reserve? 50 trillion? That's staggering!

hi guys/otai2 @azraeil .... im currently working for the consultant but attached at petronas as the project engineer(contract staff). how possible is it to be absorbed as a permanent staff at petronas?  unsure.gif
*
It depends on your superior whether wants to absorb you into permanent. To be honest, it is highly unlikely, hardly see anyone from direct hire/contract staff been absorbed into a permanent due to so many procedures/process unless your boss really fight for you and HR take it very seriously.

QUOTE(maninyellow @ Jul 6 2013, 09:37 AM)
You'll be staying at hotel for 2 weeks (extendable to 1 month, ask HR), sponsored by company upon arrival. During that period, you're supposed to find room/house rent (tips? ask HR for room rental advert). Bus route? ask HR. All in All, Ask HR....huhu

All this while for PCSB staffs in East Malaysia, we only get hotel stay for 3days and 2 nights, is it a new ruling? blink.gif

Congratulation. I'm currently work as new exec at PETRONAS Chemicals Methanol Labuan. Good news, start this July all staffs at here will receive house allowance. I heard that the exec have a good bonus. Btw, what position had been offered to you, section/department ?. Right now, I'm work as rotating exec under maintenance.
*
Housing allowance was first given to Bintulu somewhere in March/April this year if I am not mistaken. For the bonus, it is used to be great but now it is solely based on performance (PPA) and without the company bonus so it is not as lucrative as before. Warn you first.

I hv a question to ask.. Its about the allowance/benefit that permenent staff entitled for.. I ask my job hunter regarding this issue as i am interested to know.. But then he said that there is no allowance provided by Petronas for E1.. Is it true? I dont know whether he is trying to make a joke or what haha..  And if you guys dont mind to share, may i know what are the allowance/benefit that we are entitle for.. Thanks =)

At first, you need to know what position that you are in. Offshore will have offshore allowance, traveling will have the meal allowance, working in east malaysia will have the special allowance and etc. Hope it clears the confusion that you have.

Finally got offer letter -.-

This is why I'm so relieved:

1. Apply Discover Petronas: mid january 2013
2. Received SI appointment: end of march 2013
3. SI: 19 April 2013 (along with a hundred over other applicants I think)
4. SI result: end of May 2013 (just graduated from uni at same time)
5. Medical check letter: start of October 2013 (Submitted med result same day)
6. Offer letter: 8 Oct 2013 (report for PIPE 18 Nov 2013)

Timeline from application --> Offer letter = 9 months. Mad torture for me....had no idea it will take that long. Maybe coz I'm a fresh graduate.

I didnt read the previous posts in this thread so once i got result didnt bother applying anywhere....which left me 5 months on my part time job (took part time so if petronas came calling i can quit anytime). Only after reading posts from sifus here i decided to apply elsewhere, but thankfully Petronas got back to me smile.gif .

As for Petronas HR, I dont think its fair to label them as extremely slow. Sure some are and some even rude, but I was very thankful to my HR manager who first handled my case. I'm pretty sure she had loads of other applicants to handle and whenever I called her to enquire she was always understanding and tried her best to communicate with my department. Should blame the atrocious filing system for Petronas.....even their own HR are complaining about it.

Btw any Pipeline Engineer around here? If so can enlighten me about the job scope in petronas?

Also anyone else attending PIPE next month??

Pipeline engineer in PMU? PMO? SKO? SBO?

Hi guys,

Ive been reading thru this entire forum but havent been able to find info relevant to me.

I recently got offered to do an Industrial Training with Petroliam under the 'Strategic Communications' Department'. I am a Communications and Media Management student (final sem +required internship).

I've looked thru the forms that were emailed to me but could not find any indication of allowance etc.

Is there anyone who knows whether Petronas pays industrial trainees? And whether is it advisable to take up the offer as a Comms student in terms of future prospects?

thanks for reading thru this, will appreciate any advice at all.

- Sincerely grateful - sweat.gif

Rm500/month if you are a non-Petronas scholar, RM700 or Rm800 (can't remember the exact figure) for Petronas scholar.
