QUOTE(coldbasecamp @ Jul 19 2021, 10:08 PM) Tbh it's kinda hard to make more money per unit when there is still chip shortages. Most still sells console at a lost or little profit, and gets them back by software sales in the end. Not to mention OLED panels are more expensive as far as I know. I wouldn't expect them to release a Pro if there is ever one, this year anyway. If there is one it would be late next year, but it's a stretch at this point, when the better solution would be releasing next-gen instead, with backwards compatible.

Judging from Nintendo history, most likely it will be next-gen already. There won’t be a pro anymore. The Nintendo Switch has passed its usual timeline.

Yup. OLED is just one last push to get more people to buy console and spend on their software, and then they will move on to next gen. I am hoping the next one will be in the good spec wise, at least spec in the middle of a PS4 and a PS5.. just like how Wii U was in the middle of PS3 and PS4, or the Wii, between PS2 and PS3, performance and graphic wise. Since they don't want to go head-on with Sony or Microsoft, and priced them lower. But you never know, if they finally feel adventurous. Since they always willing to risk it most of the time.

Yeah they might come up with something revolutionary that might not sell one gem or two then move on to another.

QUOTE(Eithanius @ Jul 7 2021, 09:52 AM) Saw the news of upcoming OLED model just 20 mins before 7.7 Midnight Shopee sale... Nothing major except slightly bigger OLED screen and LAN port... won't be available until 3 months later, or maybe longer wait here... and cost extra RM200 at least... Think think think... Finally pulled the trigger and got the current model at RM 1,283... Wait for 8.8 sale...

Nintendo Switch = RM1350 Ring Fit Adventure = RM310 Total = RM1660 Means they’re charging the other ‘free’ accessories (pouch and screen protector) around RM70. Not really a discount considering it costs the same/cheaper if you buy them individually.

Still considering hard whether to wait the OLED version or buy now... will it be immediately avaliable for purchase by 8 oct or its gonna be like ps5, wait forever also no stock?

I’m on the same boat. I’m not really in urgent need to purchase so I’ll wait. If it’s immediately sold out or if the price is more than RM1.6k, then I’ll just get the Switch V2.

Errr.... u wait another 2 and half month and if its immediately sold out then u only u buy the v2... seems a long wait to figure that out... I guess if I'm to wait, I'll definitely wait until can buy the OLED version d, else waste time only...

usually, it will be sold out for 2-3 months before available locally unless you buy scalper unit.

The only way to get it day one is buy pre-ordering early. Like the first day the trusted shop lets you pre-order, straight away deposit your money, and you'll most likely be the first in line to own them on day 1, when it's launched. I've done it a few times like for the Switch v1 and PS4 on launch day.
Few issues tho regarding Nintendo products since it isn't official distributed by Nintendo themselves. You will have to pay at quite an expensive price as well from Maxsoft if you want to own it day one. Like last time I was forced to get the 1-2 Switch Game, Zelda BoTW to be able to purchase it for the v1. It's at RM2000, and comes with 3 or was it more Animal Crossing Amiibos.
As you wait the price will go down slowly, but won't be at retail for maybe 6 months or more, as the demand slowdown, only then Maxsoft will make it cheaper for others to own.. It's very scummy of them, but if you want to own it day one that's how it is for Nintendo products. Take note tho since it's not the first launch unit, it should be less on demand compared to how I experienced it last time. But since we are still in a pandemic mode, it should be noted everything could be a lot pricier, and stuff could be out later than usual. So expect some delay or pricier Switch OLED. The price might not be that high as well here since not a lot are going to spend to buy one if they already own one. But yeah base case scenario is to be well prepared with at a lot of cash to grab one, and good luck for those who plans to get it.
