Updated manually to MIUI 8.5.8.0, so far it seems the GPS instability and slow lock in issue is "finally" solved. Battery life under further observation...

Kernel version has an updated version numbering as compared to previous MIUI 8.5.4.0.

I would say no major or critical bugs hopefully. No system is flawless, minor bugs may still present just a matter of whether it is triggered or not. Nonetheless, GPS lock in issue is solved, can lock the GPS within few seconds.

Even after reboot the system ?
No for me, it is only 7% since last full charge. Perhaps you have some app(s) that are behaving "erratically".

Lag not really but battery looks like draining a little faster compared to MIUI 8 previous version.

If it is just recently happened, you may take note of the apps you installed, many apps are running background and your screen brightness greatly affects the battery performance.

Agreed, UI is fluid and zappy, those not yet received the update just have to wait these few days or you can try your luck by keep click Update button.

Observing battery life is it any than previous versions...

My friend is using Huawei Honor 6X and also playing PoGo. I have been observing a lot of times on the GPS between that with my RN4 , same telco , same place. Sometimes Huawei failed to lock it when moving from outdoor to indoor. RN4 performed better in that , however Huawei stability a little better. RN4 also can lock in quick too but sometimes it can be slower for some reason ? Weather and Location. I believe it is also something to do with MIUI rather than the chip or possibly both too. It may also depend on the Google Map app and how phone on-time , a reboot usually help if it has not been rebooted after many days.

Try to ensure Google Map is working properly and updated. If needed, clear cache or reinstall. Test with Google Map and Waze too. Reboot the phone also before test, it should work by right, can lock in within few seconds on open area.

You are right, MIUI v efficient in this power saving tasks, so need some tweaks. Thanks for the point made. I suspect Google Map too maybe need set the same.

See how you use the phone and what apps inside and using. Maybe it drains a little higher than earlier versions.
