I'm forced to choose other brand due to this GPS issue or else Redmi Note 4 is one of the best budget phone in town other than average camera quality.  

Should I put my hope on future Redmi Note 5 now? 

My Redmi Note 4 is updated to Miui 8.5.4.0 which IS based on Nougat.  And the GPS works wonderfully.

I've been tried a number of custom rom but it seems that miui still offer the best battery life. Might need some tweak but i'm too lazy to try all of that.

Anyone know the known list of chip that overheat?

We all know that mediatek generally overheat the phone. Snapdragon also was fighting with the same issue with their chip last time. iinm the chips used in oneplus 2.

I know exynos 3-4 years ago sucks so bad.

Anyone know if huaeei kirin chip got any issue with overheat? Which model?

Wonder if xiaomi upcoming in-house "Surge S2" chip will have this issue. And hoping that xiaomi wont ditch snapdragon.
Edited : just realised surge 2 is built on 16nm fab. Power efficiency wise should be lower than sn625?

Off topic: Mi A1 is coming to Malaysia at the end of this month. Same spec with Redmi note 4 except with smaller 3080mah battery, dual camera and runs on stock android Nougat.

iinm miui is better in battery life than stock android.

Will wait and see if the battery life capable to be on par or slightly lower than RN4. If it's dual camera and battery life is good. Maybe i'll sell my rn4 and get that phone. Pure android is too tempting, plus promised to be updated to oreo by end of this year. The big cons is that 1k mah battery different from rn4.

One month of usage after getting Note 4. Battery life still superb but not as tahan like first few days when I received it. Still last me for 1 day though even with gaming (Clash Royale)

Anyway just a question. Is charging the battery overnight will deteriorate the battery life? Cause I read somewhere saying charging it overnight and it reaches 100% and somehow will pressure the battery due to high tension of the electricity.

i nvr did anything.. probably some apps updated automatically through wifi & issue got resolve.
But not sure which apps caused gps issue.

I would like to thank all the contributors here for addressing the GPS lock in issue in the Redmi Note 4. For the past few weeks I thought I'm insane and for the past few days I know that I'm not alone.
