Basically 16nm=14nm, 16nm maybe even better few years ago(search iphone 6 tsmc vs samsung), just different company. For battery life lower nm is better. Then also must see type of core, big core(a75/73/72) are more powerful performance wise but use more energy.

So like this phone you can see, the mediatek version has big cores but on older process, that's why they have good benchmarks but bad battery life. SD version has no big cores and newer process so worse performance but very good battery life. And the thing you need to keep in mind is also that when phones heat up, they don't have fan to cool down, they drop their clockspeed instead whereas chips on newer process can run at higher clockspeeds for longer cause it takes longer for it to heat up. Thats why many feedback sd version redmi note 4 better.

To simplify, right now the power/performance these chips can consider same range. Of course radio signal strength I cannot say cause i never use all the different product before.

anyone here using the phone to play Mobile Legends? OK? or will stutter/ lag?

I bought my RN4 4/64 from Lazada. 

login mi account, go to developer setting bind your account to device first. then apply to unlock bootloader. you need at least 3 days (72 hours) after you bind account before you can unlock your device, even if you got the permission to unlock bootloader at a split second,

congrats! what rom you're planning to flash? i am using RR rom but am not getting SOT people reported. max i got is 5 hours with 1 day half usage, location off, sync on.

SOT not sure, somewhere like 9 hours maybe?
idle can last 3 days, tested LOL
location, wifi, 4G always on. brightness around 40%

I've been using LOS and Aosp Extended and i think both are pretty similar. Not sure about those bug you mentioned but i noticed 2 bugs.
1- Phone become no signal when gets warm. (There is an easy way to fix so no biggie)
2- Unstable hotspot connection. Not sure if this is rom or telco problem but i'm getting lag spike when enable hotspot. Games run smooth but then lag 2-3 seconds then run smooth again.

Other than that, everything runs fine.

Updated manually to MIUI 8.5.8.0, so far it seems the GPS instability and slow lock in issue is "finally" solved. Battery life under further observation...

Kernel version has an updated version numbering as compared to previous MIUI 8.5.4.0.
