I assume you're talking about redmi note 4 and Redmi note 4x.
Not really, no. Bear in mind that Malaysia variant or the global variant uses Snapdragon chipset instead of MediaTek.

The naming abit confusing. Different market, different name, different variant.
I got myself note 4x for China market so it's the Snapdragon variant. This exact phone launched as Redmi note 4 in Malaysia.
So if you care about local warranty, get the MY set.

Well because note 4x China and note 4 Malaysia are basically the same device. They just saved the hassle and confusion.
If ninja said note 4, it could refer to China-market's note 4 which is using MediaTek instead Malaysia's note 4 that uses Snapdragon. The cases for these two devices obviously are different.
As long it's 4th generation redmi note using Snapdragon, the name isn't really matter.

Well if your concern is warranty, check with Xiaomi Malaysia.

Check with Mi Malaysia(call or email them the IMEI). Bought Mi A1 earlier too and had to clarify with them for sure.

Got it as well although never had problems on the changelog especially the first(I don't really use the other two).

Could be not related.
I was clearing some space(delete photos and such) and was so sure I deleted enough but the memory cleared wasn't tally with what I had done. After a reboot, a fair amount of space magically appeared

I'm still on 9.5.9.0. Only got 9.5.10.0 notification for the moment but I'm sure I'll get 9.5.11.0 right after updating to said notification.

You think it'll be good idea upgrading from that?

Does this recent update any good? No major bugs? Very sceptical when it comes to Xiaomi's update. I don't know why.

Not entirely related but I have a spare Redmi 4 Prime lying around. Never before load custom recovery but I'm good with following instructions. Just wondering if I flashed lineage(for example), does it have OTA? If not then, do devs update it frequently(mean I have to manually update)?

I see. Like that okay lah. I thought before people on custom ROM have so much free time to reinstall apps and copy paste their data every update.

9.5 is fine I guess. You'll get nougat and the MIUI itself got that nice feel due to new transition effect

Just updated to 9.6.2. I skipped last one update so I'm coming from before the last one. Can't remember. 9.6.0.11 or something.
So far I don't feel any different. But one but I notice is that when I open open Settings, type something in Search, nothing come out. Settings close itself.
Do you face similar issue?
I've done 3 times shutdown(not reboot) just in case.

Read about this bug when I wanted to update to 9.5.11.0. Some users on MIUI forum did face this issue back then(I didn't). But now, haiz~
I even cleared all data for Settings app(didn't work).

Trying to avoid that. It'll reset my setting(only setting right). Don't wanna hassle to set it up again.

Tried that and unfortunately it didn't work. Luckily it's not something major. I can live with it.

I guess not. It's just disappeared.
I'm on official global stable 9.6.2.0.
But someone from MIUI forum screenshot-ed the update. It brings September security patch, camera improvement among some other things.
