Nope. The noise cancelling works way too efficient, making my video recording sound too low, nearly impossible to hear.Xiaomi Redmi note 4/4x Discussion V2, Helio X20, SD625

My fellow Redmi Note 4 user, a question here.
Can I upgrade to Nougat while retaining MIUI 8.2.10.0? |

QUOTE(MGM @ Dec 19 2017, 04:57 PM) It was listed at Lazada as RN4, invoiced as RN4, printed in box as RN4. In China release, there are 2 SoC based-variants. Mediatek=RN4, Snapdragon=RN4XWonder whether I should return it even though I bought it cheap at rm590 (after discount n creditcard cashback) cos I read that RN4 is better, what do u think? https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note...erence-t3572385 In global release, there is only one SoC based-variant which is the Snapdragon version and it's commercialised as RN4. As long as yours is the Snapdragon, and furthermore with EIN label, rest assured it is a MY set. |

Hello all. Everyone using MIUI9 Global stable, I believe it's 9.0.5.0 now, how is it now?
I still on 8.2.10.0 and was reluctant to upgrade when they first launch and release MIUI9 for RN4(SD). |

QUOTE(benji @ Dec 26 2017, 07:02 AM) Apparently no. I have one interesting situation though. Whenever I use my second sim(Digi) as data(first sim celcom), the location seems to get screwed. It's showing Padang Serai on Google app cards and weather info which is very far, far away from my actual location. This happened even if I turn off mobile data and use wifi. And Google Maps too will show I'm at Padang Serai momentarily before showing the actual location. Not critical but weird. |

QUOTE(zheyuen @ Jan 7 2018, 11:56 AM) Hi, I'm not interested in imported sets so if I were to get the Redmi 5 Plus, I'll wait for the official one. Sounds like you're not in hurry. I would get the newer. Redmi 5 Plus. However, the price for Redmi Note 4 seems pretty good, and as someone who has never used a Redmi before, would it be safer for me to wait for the 5 Plus, or get the Note 4? Also, still wondering if a tempered glass screen protector is needed for this. Thanks! |

QUOTE(zheyuen @ Jan 8 2018, 11:10 PM) What if I don't wanna wait tho? Would the Redmi Note 4 be too obsolete or would it still get some updates and patches from the XiaoMi side (since it's unlikely that it'll get Oreo)? If you don't want to wait, there isn't any other option then, isn't it?Obsolete is a strong word. They both are using same SoC. Think it will but I don't think it will be for monthly. Newer one however have edge-to-edge display and LED light for selfie. For camera photos, you can check these out. 1 2 3 |

QUOTE(zheyuen @ Jan 9 2018, 11:50 PM) Ah, I think I should've worded myself better. What I meant by obsolete is in terms of software support. I'm not familiar with Xiaomi, so I'm not sure how long they support a phone in terms of bugfixes and security updates. From reading through this thread, different people have different experience. Or are Redmis stable enough that there's rarely a need for bugfixes? Thanks for all the answers you've provided so far, the picture comparisons were really helpful. In my experience, the phone is quite good already(or maybe because I'm not used to a flagship). I'm only on basic stuff mostly, social media. Not even gaming. The sound recording in video however(haven't tested audio record) isn't impressing. The noise canceling is either working too efficient or just crap. Camera like you've seen. GPS is working well for me. Waze definitely takes longer time/harder to lock than Google Maps. I'm on Google Maps most of the time anyway. Regarding to software update, I'm not really convinced by Xiaomi. Probably once in 3 months? I'm talking about official global stable ROM here. Not my time now to tweak this and that, ROM here and there anymore. I'm afraid I'm at my limit now. Maybe others can help if you if there are more enquiries. Note that I'm using Redmi note 4 AP(SD) set loaded with official global stable. |

QUOTE(maxphoon @ Feb 1 2018, 11:53 AM) Yes, I'm using the same sim card. Network settings on both phone is default settings. I didn't change anything. When the websites cannot be accessed from note 4 then I disconnect from it and switch sim card to the 4 Prime and I can connect to the websites again immediately. That's weird. Does the problem persists if on WiFi? How about trying different browser?I'm no expert but my guess is probably different access point setting maybe between the phones? And maybe try reinstall browser (I'm using chrome). Those what I would check. |

Guys, my Redmi Note 4(SD) 32/3GB is currently on android 6.01 with MIUI 8.2.10.0(Global official) on top.
I'm not sure what's the most current update but should I update mine? Having no issue now if that helps. |

QUOTE(soulz69 @ Mar 25 2018, 04:30 PM) latest version is 9.5.4.0 with android 7.0 No problem but one thing annoys me when I could only see kotak once in a while. No latest emoji native support.luckily i don't face any problem for now. some user has wifi problem. some user don't bother with the update. some user update it for the new features they offer. if the phone has no issue and you satisfy with the current version, you can keep using it. |

QUOTE(soulz69 @ Mar 25 2018, 09:05 PM) yes. you're right. new android version usually got new emoji addon. 😅 iirc you could but that involves rooting and modding something which is really too much works to put into and really inconvenient. Upgrading android is the much much simpler and logical solution. and also redmi device popular with getting old device left with old android version and update their miui version only. is it possible with new miui version they added the new emoji? i'm not sure about this. :/ Anyway modding is way beyond my time now. |

QUOTE(wdarke @ Mar 26 2018, 09:52 PM) It doesn't happen every time. Maybe a few times a week, if you use Waze twice a day. There seems to be no exact reproduction steps. One thing I've noticed, it's more likely to happen if you are using Waze, and actively switch around other apps, or accepting a voice call in the middle of Waze navigation. Once the voice call ends, Waze will be unable to lock on GPS for around 5-10 minutes. After a while, it works again. It's as if the GPS service has crashed, and MIUI takes some time to restart it. I rarely use Waze because of that. Noticeably slower compared to Google Maps. I think it's down to developer support. Probably not optimised for Xiaomi. That's my guess. |

QUOTE(wdarke @ Mar 28 2018, 11:43 AM) Happens with Google Maps as well. Not sure if it takes shorter time to recover compared to Waze. Quite frustrating really. The only way to fix it is to reboot the phone. By then I could have missed some turning... Guess I'm lucky. So far my experience with Google Maps is quite satisfying. |

Still on MIUI 8.2.10.0 running on marshmallow here
Looks like this new 9.5.8.0 update looks promising from the response here. Like the internal audio recording and improved GPS performance. Hope you guys can keep us on update about the performance. Will probably update(finally) afterwards. QUOTE(sgpdsmss @ Apr 17 2018, 01:40 PM) Can explain how/what to read from the graph? QUOTE(shadow1143 @ Apr 18 2018, 10:25 AM) Try to do it yourself, or maybe u should go for Xiaomi service centre and pay for ori one. Few months ago my friend went and ask, it's about 260. Never ask those small shop from lowyat to repair, let me tell a story. Extra rm60 for better workmanship and peace of mind knowing your phone in safe hand of authorized service center isn't to much for me tbh. Guess your friend was in hurry. My friend have cracked his redmi note 4, and he went to xiaomi and ask for repair and quoted 260, but need to wait the next day to get his phone back, so he decided to go lowyat, and he found one shop offer him 200 and get back in 1 hour. Well it does get a new screen, but the shop has made his battery swell, the screen popping out, he went back to the shop and ask them to fix it back. What they do is, they put a lot of glue to force it become flat, and blame my friend for own fault that makes battery swell, which before sending it for repair, the battery is in good condition. That's my story, go for Xiaomi shop if can wait for next day collection |
