[1] Learn from mobile operations, buy bandwidth from TM and distribute to a few users. Eg. 4 neighbours join to buy Unifi 100mbps at RM300, each paying RM75, you may sometime use 100mbps if your neighours are not using internet, during peak hours each will get 25mbps. I think this is how mobile broadband works.

[2] The Govt and TM are spending billion RM to build up HSBB2/SUBB till 2019. When they complete most of the infra, it is likely they will slash the internet cost to half (as announced in Budget 2017). Don't expect other telecoms including Time will invest billion RM into less populated areas, to ride on TM's existing network is much cheaper, instead of laying their own cable.

Sharing the resources is always cheaper than each owning their resources. (just like Uber/GrabCar, AirBnB)

If you don't need free 600 minutes calls, you may get it at RM129 (I am guessing), though the standard package inclusive 600 min calls is RM149. Just wait till promo (eg Unifi 30 standard RM199, promo RM179 but no free calls).

VDSL2 technical limitation.

Give and take-lah. If it is too cheap, then TM will not provide cable, installation, modems that may come to thousand RM. FTTH/VDSL2 modems are very expensive compared to Streamyx ADSL modem. Contract is 24 months, once all the hardware are installed and working, negotiate the pricing after 24 months and you may get discount (but Jib already announced the price will be cut by half within 2 years)

RM149: VIP 5 Mbps -> Unifi Lite 10 Mbps
RM199: VIP10 Mbps -> Unifi Adv 30 Mbps
RM249: VIP20 Mbps -> Unifi Adv 50 Mbps
standard pricing for new and existing customers. with free calls.

During promo, TM offer discount RM20, but no free calls. If you can wait.

Or choose Maxis Fibre 10 at RM139, Celcom Fibre 10 at RM145. They use Unifi network.

My latest bill still having the same amount as I paid in previous months. But stated dunno what "HyppTV Ruby Pack (Promo)" and also "Voice STD 20 Monthly Fee".

Free 1 month is for new customer, you can request for new Unifi service, and terminate the Streamyx line (if beyond contract period) once Unifi is installed. You will get a new phone number and give up old number.

Be optimistic. Once Unifi lite 10 is launched, TM will phase out ADSL 8Mbps, as VDSL2 will replace ADSL. It is likely you are one of the 100k Streamyx customers in Broadband Improvement Plan 2017. You will be offered Unifi Lite at RM149+GST as it is cheaper than your Streamyx 8Mbps Rm160+GST. Otherwise you may ask TM to offer you Rm20 discount, ie RM140+GST. Make sure you have been Streamyx 8Mbps customer for more than 24 months.

Some people are eyeing for "1 month free subscription" if apply for new Unifi service at tm.com.my, instead of through TMPoint or agent (due to commission).

Go to your TM online account - Quicklinks - Services - Buy New Package - I'm looking to "upgrade to Unifi". Then I think TM telemarketer will call you.

Just curious if TM resellers had started to proceed with Unifi Lite application, since they have distributed the leaflets since last week. TM agent is sometime more helpful than TMpoint's staff. Haha I don't mind that "1 month free subscription".

Fibre optic to the Cabinet (FTTC) or Building (FTTB) then existing copper line to your house. Use VDSL2 technology. You need to change from ADSL (Streamyx) modem to RM300+ VDSL modem.

Be patient. I don't have to be one of the earliest Unifi Lite users, congestion is expected at the beginning. I can wait till 2019 or TM reduce Unifi 30/50/100 pricing.

Maybe TM staff and agents are waiting for Jib or new CEO Shazalli Ramly to press the button! Retiring CEO may have gone on leave.

100% got Streamyx/Unifi RM110 or higher? There should be some residents who have given up fixed-line, or just pay RM25 for telephony, or RM38 for Streamyx Lite 1mbps. Based on 80/20 rule, only 20% subscribers are heavy user who use up 80% bandwidth!

Be patient. Wait for their Ramly to take over the CEO post, effective 1May2017.

Wait for submarine SKR1M ready this June, bandwidth from Semenanjung to KCH shall be significantly improved, then we will see if TM will distribute the bandwidth to KCH customers. But Abang Jo is willing to spend another RM1bil for Sacofa/Danawa/Sains etc to improve the bandwidth, including use Brunei-Sarawak-Indonesia route, hope they will provide free/cheap alternative fibre network.
