I'm a bit confused, is unifi lite fiber optic or copper based? It's RM 129? Can i downgrade, I'm using the older plan vip5 upgraded to 10mbps, don't really need the voice service.
*
Its both. U get fiber or copper based on ur location/building, landed mostly fiber (except those area not covered by HSBB) and copper for high rise.

QUOTE(misspinky @ May 4 2017, 04:35 PM)
My agent also said this to me will be lower chance to get RM129 for landed because RM129 for low cost flat and apartment. I already tried another agent also, same answer.
*
Gotta wait for official announcement and see how they explain the eligibility to opt out of STD20.

QUOTE(monkeybeh @ May 4 2017, 05:00 PM)
it's completely up to whether TM want give u or not.
Technical availability is secondary.
this is new level of trolling.
*
Very true, technically available, they just dont give. Nothing we can do. vmad.gif vmad.gif

Nope, unavailable on unifi lite.

my tm agent say need to thumbprint, its real? any 1 thumbprint before?
*
Yes, need fingerprint for application now, tm has already implemented this system few years ago. But i can sometime still see application without fingerprint, not sure how they do/bypass it.

I beg to differ, I think fiber is more stable than copper, and the voice call is much better.
*
yeah, overall fiber is still much better. Streamyx is just too outdated. For those on FTTH, youre future ready. brows.gif

Indeed getting outdated. Some places no longer offer streamyx, only for UNIFI. Some new houses already doing built in fiber wiring, etc
*
Yeah, my new house in a new taman has unifi FWS pre-installed by developer even before CFO. And it was 2014. All cabling done underground beside the house foundation. rclxms.gif

Good!!! These houses I love the most, dont need go for so complicated wiring  tongue.gif
Where is you FEW installed? Many of my customers at store-room there  laugh.gif
*
Whats a FEW? U mean FWS? Its installed in the living room just beside the power sockets (red circle there, i dont have recent photos with me now haha, these are taken before CFO). Attached Image

Theres also a square hole directly outside the living room wall where the fiber cable pass through (for maintenance purposes maybe). The green distribution box is just outside my house. rclxms.gif rclxms.gif

haha, typo, is FWS. oh~ there, good too

at least no complicated wiring (ugly wiring layout) haha
*
Yeah, less hassle when installing Unifi since power socket is just beside and no need to reroute anything.

Comes with concealed LAN cable as well?
*
LAN cable to every room? No, have to do ownself. No lan cable provided, just the fiber optic pre-installed till the living room. So next time when subscribing to Unifi they just come and install BTU/ AP thats all. No need dirty drilling and cabling stuff. Just like most house nowadays also come with alarm wiring pre-installed.

QUOTE(ClarenceT @ May 11 2017, 02:43 PM)
https://www.tm.com.my/AboutTM/InvestorRelat...Plan%202017.pdf
Look at Page 8... FY2013, 88% Unifi customers were VIP5 (RM149 or less). 1H2016, 32% were still at 5mbps and a large portion of 68% (10mbps or higher) were ex-VIP5 customer who enjoyed free upgrade to 10mbps but still paying RM149 or less. Those VIP5 or ex-VIP5 users are being converted to Unifi Lite. So don't assume many existing customers will go for downgrade from 30/50 to 10. Logically almost none of Unifi 100 users will be interested to downgrade as they can downgrade to 30/50 anytime. Without VIP5(RM149), a lot of existing Streamyx users at new Unifi areas (HSBB2, after 2015) reject TM's offer to upgrade to Unifi 30/50/100.
*
Totally agree, those 100 users are not even interested in 30/50, not to say 10 on the Unifi Lite. The 129/149 Unifi lite sit between Streamyx and Unifi VIP5 and might be compelling only for users ready to fork out on that price range.

QUOTE(ClarenceT @ May 12 2017, 02:09 PM)
It is an alternative product, not a upgrade or downgrade. Unifi Lite RM129 (RM137 after +GST) doesn't come with free calls (+RM20) and HyppTV box but download at 12mbps(+/-) and upload at 6mbps(+/-); And, Streamyx 8mbps RM140 (RM149 after +GST) enjoyed free calls to TM numbers, HyppTV box, download at 10mbps(+/-) and upload at 1mbps (+/-).
*
Since when Unifi lite become +/- 12mbps one? it should be +/- 10mbps and mean guaranteed speed @ abt 10mbps rite (-5/10% if im nt wrong)?

But there is a lot of confusion regarding the availability of the product. Given the chance, I definitely would take the Unifi Lite over streamyx or the higher speed Unifi package.
*
Ya because all the info we are getting now are from 3rd party. Hv to wait for official announcement to clear things up.

i am existing streamyx user and when i want to upgrade to unifi lite, they tell me port full. so how to convert when there are no bloody ports available for users like me?! tm no money to install additional ports or what?!  vmad.gif
*
I think its because the demand is so much higher than supply, so hv to wait for port. No issue at all in my taman as it is already covered by HSBB project since 2012/2013 and they already rectified any initial deployment issue. TM gt tell u hv how long to wait for a port?

i subscribed 8mbps rm140 last two weeks. If lets say next month, got unifi lite 10mbps rm129 at my area, can i switch to unifi lite? my contract haven expired. unifi lite i mean here is for streamyx user.
*
Not sure because in ur case Unifi is cheaper than ur Streamyx subscription. For most ppl its Streamyx cheaper than unifi or their Streamyx contract has ended.

Called TM, ask about unifi lite coverage at my hometown area. They said available and go to TMPoint to upgrade. When I go to TMPoint, they said no coverage. WTF with TM????
*
Maybe they hv different database. Hv u quote the TM call to them?

U can also check online using ur address and postcode. Dont use the map method on the website as its not very accurate.

another question, i currently subscribed 8mbps with hypptv. But my family never use that hypptv. Can I remove that hypptv subscription and get discount on my 8mbps?
*
No, tm force us to get the so called triple play service for best experience. Anyway there are a lot of chaos going on over here https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/4024893 File a MCMC complain maybe?
