I find nothing strange.

1st the battery explosion do affecting. Due to that issue, really a lot people change phone brand.

2nd really a lot people buy Huawei now and mostly buy Huawei all told me won't jump ship and will continue use Huawei, especially the Leica thing really help Huawei a lot and it do really output very nice photo.

3rd I notice more and more user using iPhone now. iPhone 7 / 7 Plus is the most people buy this time.

4th is too many Oppo and Vivo shop now, I always see a lot people at Oppo shop and most of the time I seen customer buying it.

5th not a lot people keep changing phone, already too many people already upgrade new phone before this phone launch.

6th this S8 / S8+ ain't cheap. Really not much people would buy RM 3K Android phone now because even middle range already very solid build with great performance for Android.

7th this time pre-order free gift is not that attractive. I find Samsung pre-order free gift downgrade every year.

In short, a lot people already change brand and Samsung no longer that lead anymore.

I told a lot people about S8 today and nobody in my working place is interesting to it, not even want to Google to check it out even though I said how nice it is, most people immediate told me not interesting with Samsung when I just mentioned brand "Samsung".

** I based on total 2k+ staff in my working place phone usage behavior & unknown people surrounding me.

*** I am not bashing this phone, I tell what I seen happening surrounding me. I very like this phone design and possible buying it after holding it.

probably the pre-order is just another marketing strategy as you'll have to wait 3 weeks or so after pre-order. So they could take more quantities as part of pre-order.

Last time I argue before with my friend every year change phone is common, my friend told me do you think it is very common, or only most people in lowyat keep changing and the keep changing one also that few person.

I look around and had to admit not much people keep changing phone and most people use until broken just change.

LG phone I very scared already, that the reason I by pass G6 even though it look pretty as well. The bootloop issue seems never proper fix by LG.

kinda agree with you..my office most ppl get huawei and oppo as mid range price while iphone as top brand nowadays. i told my colleague abt s8, they told me don get first, better wait a while to monitor if any problem with the phone.. if you get the phone, better stay away from us..later kaboom.. although i know they are kidding, but the past case really affect the image of samsung.. hopefully this phone don come out with problem .. i kinda like the design too..but wait till hold the phone first..

Haha! Ya. Either not interesting at all or joke about it.

Another thing is Samsung phone now price drop very fast. Maybe only need a month or two the price of S8 or S8+ will drop below RM 3k. Samsung can't hold the price steady long.

i only can say the hype of samsung cant hold long compare to iphone.... luckily it has S series in the beginning of yr and note in the end of yr.. i am still thinking to wait for note series or get tis s8..

nowadays college students also use iPhones
not to say most of them, but in certain demographics you do see them use Apple products quite a lot
seems despite the low spending power, more and more Msians are able to afford iPhones now, though through 24 mth installments

yeap ... im changing from s6 to s8 ... hope will be a huge step for me

Probably because iPhone only once per year but Samsung is twice per year.

Ya I notice this also. It is a huge increase start last year.

nono.. not Samsung but Android phones in general tend to depreciate faster compare to iPhone

Samsung in fact got better resale value due to its demands, as opposed to Sony phones where it is very hard to come by shops that willing to accept trade in

there are people who love iPhone due to its iOS simplicity, and there are people dislike it due to the same reason

it is weird that some ppl mindset who carry iPhone say Android phones over rm3k are expensive, mcm la only iPhones can be sold above rm3k

Actually iOS will facing same issue also if iOS can be manufacturer by others.

That is the big different on Apple iPhone because if you want iOS, only Apple. How expensive Apple sell it, people still willing to buy it.

Sony, LG & Moto already consider dead two years ago in Malaysia market.

Now not only Samsung, Huawei also got resell value. Others like Oppo I not really sure. Xiaomi wise the market already drop pretty bad, all thanks to lousy Malaysia Xiaomi handle the market.

Oppo/Vivo target youth and ladies markets - a great market which major manufacturers haven't tapped in yet, with aggresive marketing campaigns such as commercials in cinemas, Siti Nurhaliza / Korea guy as the ambassador, the sales volume is not to be underestimated, simply walk into any Aeons always can see booths selling one of these

Huawei on the other hand is touted as premium Chinese brand, with Honor cater to midrange and budget oriented

meanwhile Sony, its like Volvo cars in Malaysia, either you like it, or you just ditch it, even not doing that well in its home country Japan, but overall it is still a solid phone, I most likely will keep it instead of selling it

Not everyone is same. Some would buy expensive phone and use it for a very long time while other prefer changing phone every year like disposable.

I'm still OK with my S6e after 2 years. The only problem is the slowdown when it gets pretty hot while gaming and using with gear vr. I don't see a need to upgrade at all.

My wife had been stuck with iphone 5 since the initial launch. She sees no need for upgrade but it did feel like time is up after recent update. Phone getting really sluggish now. So bought this instead of iphone 7 plus because that thing is huge.
