Personally Im not that interested with S8 but I really want to see what it is capable of with the 20 shader core G71 GPU. Huawei Kirin 960 already beat Samsung to A73 + G71 but when I looked at the history of Kirin SOC, seem like their GPU always sucks because they are using way less shader core. I was about to buy a Mate 8 since it is on sale right now but when I looked at the GPU, it was about on par with my S6E despite using the newer Mali T880. Exynos 7420 has 8 shader core but slower T760 but Huawei decided with 4 shader core but faster T880.

Kirin 960 is quite good. A73 vs modified A72. A73 is exactly what's inside snapdragon 835 and exynos 8895. The only downside is the gpu shader core is only 8. Although it's running newer G71, it's a bit slower than S7e exynos 8890 with 12 shader cores T880. The thing about A73 is sustained performance vs peak performance with A72.

S8 is a different beast with either 835 or 8895. It's built on 10nm which will guarantee 30% faster than A72, compared to Kirin 960 which is on 16nm, which is limiting the gain between 10-15%.

You don't get it at all. Even S7e slows down when overheat. Kirin 960 had A73 which is what Snapdragon 835 and Exynos 8895 has. It's all about sustained performance. If you only do benchmark and not gaming, then you won't know what it's all about. You want higher peak performance or higher sustained performance over a longer period of time.

Look beyond the process node. It's the same architecture inside 960 and 8895. Yes, it's will be slightly faster due to it being on 10nm but Huawei planning the same on 970.

Weaker? I think that's what the benchmark shows. Since P10 had FHD, I don't think it matters too much. Besides the most important thing is that the sustained performance of A73 will give more room to its GPU to not hit thermal throttle when compared to A72.

Honestly there is little to choose between them even when compared to S8 because its the same architecture. The S8 will be faster by at least 20% due to 10nm process node. The GPU could end up a lot faster since it has 20 shader cores compared to 8 shader cores on 960.

It will change soon. That's why Samsung is trying to offer discount etc during preorder previous year. This year they resorted to their trickery of holding up new soc which made other model handicapped. Although their number is small, combined they still put a dent to the sales number. Even though I had RM500 lazada voucher, I'm still hesitant to order the S8 for my wife. It's just the freaking same thing for 3 years already. Samsung really need to up their game.

You probably wont get much action with Note5, so the SD slot would not matter anyway. Tried with S6e and always overheat. Sigh... wasted the VR.
