the price are not bad, but I expecting s8 RRP is 3099 laugh.gif
don't forget we have weak currency cry.gif
but I still saw s7 edge RRP is 3099 rclxub.gif
*
rm3199 sounds reasonable

so comparing to Sony camp, rumors are that XZ Premium will priced at rm3399-3499, which aims at S8+, they have a junior flagship which is XZs RRP priced at rm2899, but using 2016's SoC Snapdragon 820 ohmy.gif

Xperia XZP/XZs unique selling point is just the slow-mo camera

now S8/S8+ needs to prove that it can achieve better in imaging department despite lower MP

Im afraid the xperia line up will be of no contest to the S8/S8+. Compare their sales volume and you will have the answer there. laugh.gif Even Sony's so called best camera phone in the XZ cant compare to the S7E.
*
as a consumer i don't pay much attention to the sales figures

rather it is what kind of things i can get by paying ~rm3100 and no more

so with this budget, S8 and XZs comes into picture

which in this point, S8 wins hands down

currently using Z5P which launched at rm3099 (same launch RRP as S6 dual edge in 2015) , the problem with Sony now is the XZs seems like a rip off version of flagship due to its exorbitant pricing, while using leftover chips from 2016.

You guys do realize recent galaxy series since s6 the camera used sony camera sensor rite?
*
S8 no more using Sony sensor liao

Sony makes money not through its mobile division, but from components like camera sensors, entertainment business, and Playstation business

likewise, Samsung also generates revenue by manufacturing chips and screens for iPhone, memory cards, memory, and so on

edit: Apple has stopped using Samsung as their chipmaker for upcoming ipongs, but the screen will source from Samsung's AMOLED panels

Most people aware. Sony need company like Apple and Samsung or even Chinese company to demonstrate their sensor capabilities. Why? Sony themselves in typical ignorant fashion unable to unleash full capabilities of their sensor. Proof? Observed all their Z and X series phone.

Aside from still image,, their steadyshot for video pretty good though.
*
yup steadyshot video really good, compare to S7

a pluspoint for Sony hardware is the sturdiness and quality though

Wtf so expensive?
So most likely that will be the same price as Malaysia???
*
its equivalent to iPhone 7 128GB
its not expensive its just the shrinking ringgit

iPhone 7 was released in 2016 where the exchange rate was better

as of today it dropped to 4.45 MYR - 1 USD, 3.17 MYR - 1 SGD

treat Ringgit as the future thai baht, except that we still earn in ringgit, but spend like thai baht doh.gif

Wireless Charger Convertible is wireless charger?

means they won't include it in the subsequent release?

btw due to weakening ringgit, expect flagship phones will be much more expensive, that includes the next iPhone may start from rm3.5k lol

based on XZs preorder price

http://www.sony.com.sg/microsite/xperia/xzs/preorder.html

http://www.11street.my/product/ProductDeta...?prdNo=34165652

SG -> SGD 898 ~ RM 2839
MY -> MYR 2899

Malaysia even more pricer shakehead.gif

expect SME will follow similar pricing conversion

With these taller 2:1 ratios, one handed use will be a total pain. I had problems swiping down the notification pane on the S7Edge let alone on the taller S8
*
it's just 1 cm longer than iPhone 7 only

http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPho...4&idPhone3=7945

contrary to the verticle (length), most people esp girls would have issue with fat phones (phones with wide width) for their thumb have hard time to reach the other side lol, which in this case, S8 is a relatively slim phone

I think Huawei also offer the first time screen crack protection thingy

it sort of like insurance in such that even you purposely drop the phone resulting in screen crack, the manufacturer will repair it for you FOC

thing is, will the subsequent retail customers get to enjoy the insurance? if no, then it's lagging behind other Chinese brands

What do u mean will subsequent customers get to enjoy the insurance? U mean when the first buyer sells it as a used unit?
*
i mean outside the pre-order period

will Samsung still offer the first time screen crack protection?

personally, i think the pre-order is fair. no price  discount as we've seen how it's encouraged scalpers.

the pre-order freebies are going to be good for ppl who will actually buy and use the phones -- example: extended warranty and screen crack protection.

wireless charger... having used it back with note7, i started to like it.

case and sp... most users will want one and use it anyway. might as well have sth that samsung designed, unless what MY is giving is some cheapo china made ones -- that is what they did back with Note7 compensation (first recall). some very lousy brandless SP.

possibly what i think is the worst item in the pre-order is the 5k PB. at least give la 10k. or something else...

in summary, pre-order:
* good for ppl who buy for own use
* bad for scalpers
*
other than the powerbank, the rest is good
original Samsung cover ain't cheap, and the SP, given the fact that the first batch accessories are usually hard to come by

wrong.....

Samsung's calculation - RM249 warranty + Power bank RM200 + Wireless charger RM300 + Clear case RM100 + SP RM51 = RM900 worth of freebie.  tongue.gif
*
that sort of powerbank needs rm200?

facepalm at the profit margin there

anyway wireless charger not that cheap i think

telco have subsidized price, most of the time adding up the upfront payment is still less than the RRP
otherwise what's the point of being bond for 2 year contract
