My UOB One Platinum also got the same response. I straight call CS to cancel. After one week, they call me back and offer me 3 years AF waiver, so I accepted it rclxm9.gif

Ya, definitely call to cancel if that is they don't want to waive. You might get a call from the retention team and offer you a better deal.

Normally u guys wait for the annual fee charge first only can call for waive or??
my uob card will be charged annual fee this september,
i called last week, customer service said need to wait they charge first only can submit annual fee waive application....

call before charge, once it appear in your statement and you use the CC after that, if they dont want waive, you cannot do anything biggrin.gif
any transaction before AF appear, you can cancel your card safely
due to you pay AF for the following year... after appear in your statement, you use the CC... you know la, some bank

but there are case that citibank dont want waive AF, after three months i cancel that CC, they fully refund the AF which they charged me three months ago

I called them, but they said have to wait AF charge first only can ask for waive lol...
For Citibank cc, normally I will login Citibank online and message them before they charge, so far so good, they answered waive for me.

different cs officer will say different things

for citibank first fella i speak to say need to wait for the AF to be charge only can request waiver, then i call again speak to another fella he say terus can waive for me and it never appeared on my statement after my card anniversary

so always try to speak to diff ppl

My case too UOB CS asked to call back after being charged AF. I believe this is UOB standard operating procedure. Anyone actually did confirm waiver before being charged?

AF charged.
Call to request for waiver.
If waiver is approved, no need to make payment.
If waiver is rejected, proceed for payment or cancellation.
Standard practice for UOB and Citibank.

CS advised to call after it is charged. If waived, ignore it as it will be striked off next bill.

If rejected, either you pay up or you cancel. If you cancel, you won't have to pay the AF.
