I went to a car workshop yesterday & they charged me RM21 labour charge just to replace engine oil. 6 months ago, it was RM15.
What is the average labour cost from other workshop to replace engine oil?
Guess the next round, I will change the engine oil myself.

Same, 20 bucks plus extra gst which I just changed last week, pure engine oil replacement without oil filter (car still under warranty I don't want to temper unnecessary)

It's freaking expensive considering it use to cost RM8 to RM10 few years back.

Many years ago, I DIY my sunny for free. But removing the oil filter was a PITA since its located underneath the carb. Imagine no jack summore. (And I did it by the side of the road, on the grass) . I also did DIY for Wira, oil filter easier to remove. In case you guys ask, where I get the oil drain pan, I use old empty oil can, and cut open.
But in the end, I got lazier, and send to a Shell petrol station to have it changed. Rm 15, using oil suction device instead of conventional unscrew the oil pan nut.
Now got new car already, cannot send to bawah pokok workshop. Have to pay more for workmanship.

Wow... inflation really creeps in .. I still remember, "back in the old days", my mechanic only charge RM5 for labour. However, due to the nature of myself (DIY) and waiting time while he change the engine oil, I prefer to do it myself. With the help of the oil filter wrench (which I bought more than 10 years ago at RM15), I unscrew the old oil filter and rescrew the new oil filter while standing at the side of my old faithfully Sunny.

Where do you dispose your used engine oil?

RM15 to RM21 is not bad la. RM6 only. And that RM15 rate is like more than 10 years already. Even photostat machine repair people charge RM100 per trip already.

Yeah most shops now seem to charge over rm20 nowadays, some even more than rm30 but still got some with only rm15, just need to ask around a bit more. Last month I changed mine for only rm15. A couple of years ago this same shop only charged me rm10 so has increased also. This post has been edited by 6UE5T: Mar 27 2017, 02:13 PM

RM20 to RM35 for engine oil and filter change. Also some basic inspection. Some shops charge RM15 if buying engine oil and other parts from them.

brought my own parts; eo, eo filter, fan belts 2 pcs, spark plugs, atf oil; RM 100 + 6% gst = 106 for labour. Went again same shop, bought own cam cover gasket, labour RM 50 + gst = rm 53. shop in semenyih town . I think very expensive . I think next time revert back to workshops in subang jaya near i live, where i thought labor could b even more expensive, but on second thought probably may not

Just went to my former workshop located inside Shell Usj 6. bought my own petronas oil. the moment i brought down my oil can, the tauke lamented 2 points
1) you bring own oil? i charge you rm 25 2) you bought petronas oil. actually we dont allow but this time we allow you.
and i am his regular customer. poor customer experience.
what pisses me off is : why and what rights have workshop to intentionally charge more for bringing parts? not enough to scam is it? know other workshops does that. so what if customer wants to buy his own parts at cheaper rate?
i screwed the tauke: So does that mean i use your oil you charge cheaper la?? He kept silent.
ok..your'e on my blacklist.
