That really is up for debate because sony's mirrorless lens size is not that much different from dslr. But again, just my opinion.

i saw this. Actually to me the body difference between mirrorless and dslr i dun really mind. But the lens, the a6000 plus kit lens same size as whole d5600. I think d5600 kit lens still few times of a6000 right

If say u are just going out for a dim sum near your house with family, wont dslr be a bit overkill if u just wanna snap snap

Ideally i would have 1 DSLR for serious works, and 1 mirrorless for travel biggrin.gif

I sold off my nikon kit years ago because it's too impractical for travel, which is the majority of what i shoot anyway. how using mirrorless and happy with it. but of course i miss a few things:

- battery life.. for sure need 1 or 2 extra batteries even shooting just for fun
- start-up time. mirrorless will have a few seconds delay compared to DSLR which turn on instantly
- expen$ive. sony lenses generally are on the high side. Also, less used lenses in the market

it's true that once you put on any other lens apart from the kits, the size advantage is minimal. but i really like the flexibility. if i just feel like taking photos for fun, i can slap on the 16-50 and dont really think about it. it's still a major difference compared to any DSLR with a 18-55
*
how the control. Coz dslr u wanna change apaerture wanna change stuff just a few twist on the top feels natural. I dunno mirrorless does it feel natural ?

Even phone camera is overkill in my opinion. Just enjoy the dimsum and gathering than worry about how delicious your food look on instagram.

what about the feel ahaha...what mirrorless u r using anyway.
Dslr looks cooler n i like the way it feels in hand n the click sound but ya la, I think it its too heavy for me i might be lazy to bring out.
The kit lens is indeed smaller than dslr kan
*
im using sony a6000 smile.gif the kit lens extends just a bit after the grip. not the sharpest lens but decent enough, with OSS too.

haha its true DSLR feels better in the hand.

ya its like grabbing a bigger...erm...ya size does matter.
Anyway u mean a6000 kit lens will lose to say nikon kit lens? Hows the noise. As noisy as a nornal dslr shutter sound or quieter? Cannot be stealth when taking photo also right.

From someone who started off with mirrorless back in 2008!

I went from Olympus EPL3 > Canon D100 > Panasonic GX1 > Nikon D5300 > Sony A600 > Olympus EP5..

let me tell you the mistakes i make:
1) selling off my EPL3 is a mistake it doesn't differ much to D100
2) buying D100 with 40mm f2.8 is a mistake should have just get a better prime for EPL3.
3) Selling off my GX1 with 25mm f1.8 is the biggest mistake! that's the best range i like, the picture appear to be crisp and clear. color rendered isn't too bad too for the old body.
4) moving to nikon with 35mm f1.8 G.. nothing to complain about but sold it after my trip cause it's heavy. could have lugged around with it for a little longer.
5) Sony A6000 with 50mm f1.8 and sigma 30mm f2.8 that's another great setup! if it wasn't because of a deal for EP5 i would not have sell the whole system. Should i keep longer? maybe i should but Sony's price went up earlier and i sold them for a small fraction of lost biggrin.gif

I bought it for RM1815 with E PZ 16-50kit, 1 extra battery (total 2) and a Original Sony 16gig Memory card. It was in March 2016, the price was RM2057 before 12% maybank card promotion on lazada birthday sale. Since my price is cheaper than those with kits, I considered my kits was FOC. icon_rolleyes.gif

Until now still haven't decide?

Why don't you just go and rent/borrow a friends dslr or mirrorless for a weekend and decide? Judging by the replies you give, you yourself don't even know what you want.

Myself just stick with smartphone camera lah settle. Most easy to use and beginner friendly.

I pinjam 1 DSLR for months d, playing with it. nice to be able to change everything with a dial, nice to be able to do manual focusing of the lens. but not sure I will bring it everywhere or not eventually.
Mirrorless I also wish some1 can pinjam me, but none

Then you are left with either renting one for a day or or going to camera shop to test display unit kao kao.

U can also manual focus with mirrorless just that SOP is different from DSLR depending on its lens used. I believe most of the folks here already gave you sufficient info on both types of camera's and its advantage.

Don't get distracted with all the in-depth technical details i.e sensor size, since you mentioned you're only a newcomer. Ask yourself what you NEED rathar than what you WANT.

Shipping!

Yes its risky for such an impulse buy, but the only choice to get it over to Sabah. Unless you got any friend/family who travel from KL>Sabah often.

I originated from Klang Valley actually. Gosh the Sabahans here really suffer for things like these. The only way they can buy is go to the shops here and book it, then they will ship all the way from Peninsular. No testing nth. We have it easy in KL
