Asking on behalf of fren tongue.gif

she said someone told her

compaq model x1228AT RM 6,999
1.6 centrino
15.4 screen
2.8kg
cd + dvd rom

other spec unknown la ....

got any other model/brand with "same" spec but at cheaper price?

try the dell inspiron 8600. slightly heavier at 3.1kg but spec-wise just the same. can't beat their next business day (nbd) support either (optional with inspiron series).

the current deal with the 8600 is free dvd-rw. 1.6 centrino, 15.4" screen, dvd writer, 256mb ram and 40gb hard disk, 128mb Mobility Radeon 9600 pro and 1 year nbd for the amazing price of rm6299.

When ppl say it's lousy means the quality isn't consistent, you might get a good one if you are lucky, else, sorry lar. Acer used to have bad technical support too, but now not sure la. I am using Dell, but disable all the stupid Dell application running on the back, I guess you can do it as well on HP.

Netboy, if I buy iPAQ 4150, then is it a bit useless to get laptop? I need to get laptop with international warranty to use in UK next year... budget less than 4k, but only use to type word assignments and use internet. No need very kengchau ones la, cos use for basic things only. Any recommendations can e-mail sun_childe@yahoo.com? thanks!

Apple has just released it's new line of Powerbooks (Rev C). So the price of the current models has obviously dropped. My 15" Powerbook G4 now cost only around RM 7300, 12" iBook G4 now cost RM4000. I do think it's a great time to buy an Apple now people. Go to MacAsia website, nice service and staff. I once changed for a new model just for a cosmetic defects biggrin.gif . Happy hunting!

And the one major brand I can think of without an international warranty as standard is.......Sony!

Last I remember they charge you extra if you want an international warranty...gotta love these guys.

Yay... Sonic, between you and me, PC notebooks' build sucks. Cheap parts biggrin.gif and low resell value too! Of all the PC notebooks I've seen, I like the new Gateway the most. The design is simple compared to others and no cheesy logos and useless buttons (although some models still have them). If only they were available here! If I were to choose a PC notebook, my choice would be the M505 Series.Check it out!

Yes. It took me quite a while to decide before I got myself a Fujitsu - C2220. At first, the choice was between a Toshi A40 and the cute-looking 1.8 kg Twinhead. Anyway, I am quite happy with the unit. The only drawback is the size and weight. But I am okay with it as reliability is my priority.

Another student. smile.gif
