I don't see why everyone's complaining. The rules have been clear for years - 7kg cabin luggage with dimensions given as well. I swear, this is the only country in the world where the people can bitch and whine about actually following the regulations.

The old rule - one 7kg cabin bag + one laptop bag or handbag

Now - 1 cabin bag + 1 laptop bag or small bag. Total weight of 2 bags not to exceed 7 kg

See the difference?

Yes. However, let's be honest about one thing - these changes are because people have been abusing the cabin luggage restrictions all this while. It's the airline's prerogative to amend the rules as they see fit, just as it's your prerogative as the consumer to shop elsewhere if you disagree with their policy. If they lose enough business, they'll be forced to revert the changes.

Believe it or Not once I heard from the check in staff beside me telling other passenger :

Passenger : hand carry I melebihi berat lab, kena check in?
Cs:: berapa berat?
Passenger : 7. Something nih
Cs : on xpe nih hand carry biasa sampai 9 pun xpe.

This was told last year mid year

Experience while was travelling in UK using easy jet and ryanair.... they have a special "cage" around their counter and airplane gate. If they spot your luggage seems oversize... they just ask u to put ur luggage into the empty cage.... if its fit then its fine... not fit.... just pay extra.

Hear, hear. Only those who have been in this situation will understand why they needed to enforce the rules.
