When I first got my avanza, the rear absorbers were performax so I am unsure if during that time what condition it was. Saved up enough to change to Greber which were much thicker compared to the performax. The feeling it gives me was that it was more planted as I drove it out of the workshop in Kepong. Loved that feeling 

As such, I am not sure how a new performax absorber would perform since I have no such experience and hope you can share with us here once you have it installed.

Alternatively, there are shops that help you to change the oil inside your shock absorbers. I have tried it on my Axia but because it was so light at the back, it was uncomfortable. I ended up having to buy another pair of original Axia absorbers. This might also work for Avanza but will be through trial and error or need advice from the workshop itself.

Last weekend, alternator KO, 120k km mileage. Wasted money buy battery get home.

Bought new recond alternator RM220, fit RM60. After fitted, my HP charge very fast from the audio unit. Also, AC compressor works better too cause I think less load as alternator would cut off faster now. But funny part is sometimes when I brake to slow speed, engine slow down till like almost died split second. Scary. Not sure what's the problem. After fitted new alternator engine also behaving weird, maybe cause ECU total powerless flat due to battery flat.

Where is the stabilizer link bush location? How does it feel when ko?

Yup...good photo. Mine is the link ko, can see the rubber cover for the link koyak and wet stain grease. This link about rm90 per pair. Yet to buy and fit. The bush is located a the bottom of the chassis. I haven't check it, need to jack up only can see.

Considering to change ride so may not change anymore parts.

For the alternator, my mechanic say life span maybe 40-50k km. So if I keep avanza, I need to recond the ori alternator as spare. Reason to change car cause driving as ehailing. Already 9yrs. So as good as changing it, if not every month also got something to change. Changed many big components already.

Still thinking want buy or not, loan rm1200 for 9 years. But heard that Civic vs Altis, Civic power but after 170kmh will bouncy, cornering perfect. Altis power but pickup slower than Civic TC but after 180kmh still steady and comfort.

Engine still good, but recently have the RPM auto rev problem, something related to aircond parts

The brake noise i think so is brake pad problem...
If i use original toyota brake pad, after 1000km or above (travel few times kl-jb-kl 600km), it will have "brake noise issues" until I change another brand. Tried few brake pad already. Currently using Brembo economy brakepad, not performance brakepad   

Last year July 2018 go do inspection, workshop guy say remains left 30% right 25%
Sept 2018, he say remains left 25% right 25%
Dec 2018, he still say remains left 25% right 25%
Feb 2019, his senior check for me, say remains left 35% right 35%     
Until now May 2019 almost June 2019, I lazy go check already, they simply say the %. Everyday still drive very fast and brake like normal, ignore the brakepad thickness.

Bro, change other brand brakepad, dont use ori brakepad, useless, easily overheat 

and labour cost too.

Change this will increase stability and comfortably ? or ?

Avanza fan club! hahahehe. i'm using 2008 1.5G

- Overhaul after water damage a couple years ago - suspect it's from the petrol.
- Gear system change due to slipping - any of you have this problem?  sadly it's still happening a bit now even after using the recon set.
- Drop-in air filter and Bosch Super 4 plugs; haven't gone full mod yet, thinking about lightened pulley and exhaust header
- Today changing all 4 absorbers to KYB RS Ultra, should help with the lousy handling with standard set-up.

Superbly happy with this as a family car    Goes everywhere, no troubles, reasonably fuel efficient.

Update for this problem
Problem : RPM auto rev 800-1200 unlimited times until off temperature.
Day 1 (01062019) - I went to one of the aircond workshop. The boss uncle say it might be my valve or throttle body dirty, so he remove it and wash it, then wash the front radiator as well, total charged me rm8x. But after I reach home, if i use aircond the engine also rev up down again, if i no use aircond the engine RPM go down to 300-500 the car keep shaking, like manual car no press clutch  .

Day 2 (02062019) - Before I go to workshop again, early the morning I start the car, the car keep RPM at 500 and no cold start feeling means no high RPM while I doing cold start. if i use aircond the engine RPM no go up and no aircond means the compressor stop function because RPM too low, until I press pedal, the aircond comes immediately but once I stop at traffic light then RPM low again and aircond automatically shut off.

I went there and ask him again, then he say maybe the RPM set too low, let him adjust abit, so after adjust, without ON the aircond, the engine keep at 2000 rpms, when ON aircond it will magic drop until 1000 rpms, after half day, the auto rev problem not occur again but the RPM will suddenly keep at 2000 rpms.

I dont want to adjust the RPM to forever 2000rpm, it is ridiculous, he say put higher in order to dont shut off the compressor. But how come all the while no this issue. Only happen after he do something on the engine part on the day 1.

I changed the compressor before, maybe 15-18months before.

Today 03/06/2019 something serious happen, during peak hour evening traffic jam near Sungai Wang. The RPM suddenly go up 4000 down 3000 rpm, up down up down. I press brake but still can few the acceleration keep revving, then I put to P, the rev sound damn loud like you press 3000rpm during P. Then I off engine in the traffic jam, when they move, I start back engine put to D then suddenly rev to 3000, the car suddenly go very fast, totally cannot stop. Atlast I park at somewhere and call the aircond guy, he say maybe his staff adjust too high RPM so when the engine oil hot already the RPM go higher and higher. Otherwise is the throttle body KONG liao then need to send to Toyota do replace throttle body around rm1000-1200 with genuine warranty.

Damn scary, you can imagine your car keep revving at 3500rpm between the traffic jam crowd.

I have no idea, I have not much knowledge about the engine or aircond thing, now I only hope they know how to fix this shit thing. After they fix, maybe I will wnter Toyota SC check again.

do you have to go for alignment after change ?

But I change 2 XM2 tyre last few weeks, the workshop free alignment and balancing for me, but after few days or after 50km, feel like alignment run again, run to the before one

My alignment run since many years already, no matter who do alignment also run, so I always no do alignment, no need waste money

Is it normal if alignment run ? Run to a specific angle only, no matter re-alignment how many times, after few day will back to the angle

5 years ago, got one workshop tell me chamber BENGKOK already thats why affect alignment but I went to many shop say my chamber good.

I have to go under my car many times to get the alignment almost right. Last time everytime have to fight with the steering wheel to keep the car going straight. Now just hold it ok already. Not sure why and whether the camber is correct or not or other things causing it.
