Dear Avanza owners, I am currently thinking to get a new current Avanza.
What I'm looking for and hoping to get is a simple and durable car, that I can rely on for many years to come.

From what I have read so far, Avanza appears to be what I'm looking for, asides from some mentions on the absorber and air-cond ( can anyone confirm that is indeed the case for most Avanzas? ).

Before I make the purchase, could any current or past Avanza owners kindly share what are the common issues/problems/problematic parts of an Avanza that I need to be aware of?
Has the Avanza been really generally reliable and dependable for you?

Thanks for all the inputs in advance!

most of us here are on the first gen avanza tbh, personally i dont have experience either in driving or riding the current latest avanza, but hear say is the new avanza already made improvement in the ride quality, so the absorber issues should not be a big problem already.
However, i would recomend u to check out the aruz instead of the new avanza, as the aruz is cheaper and more tech inside the car.
The two car is pretty much the same car, the chassis is the same ladder frame, solid axle at the rear.
i would argue that the current avanza and the rush chassis still dated back to the first generation avanza chassis.

Seems like he already has rclxms.gif rclxms.gif rclxms.gif
I think apart from fabric, others will definitely be too hot to sit on...unless he cools down the interior before going in. Others I think will panggang belakang. laugh.giflaugh.gif

This is the 2020 model avanza sold in Vietnam. If assessed, it is no different than a mobile corrugated iron.

what do you mean, maybe my english comprehension is not up to par, but if you're saying the new avanza that is released in Vietnam is not the car up to your standard, then why the hell in the first place you come in an "avanza owner" thread and just drop a comment like this?
i cannot understand.

My relative have trade-in his 1st gen 1.5cc avanza, he bought the 2017/2018 1.5cc avanza with dual vvti.
I tried once to drive in taman area, the pedal feels more lighter, steering feels smaller size and lighter too.
I prefer 1st gen 1.5cc, the pedal more solid feeling. New avanza slightly more power because Dual VVT-i.

My cousin told me the new 1.5cc 2017/2018 2nd row and 3rd row smaller width but bigger legroom.
The new avanza suspension/absorber more solid than 1st gen, not so bouncy when go over the bump.
- Handling improved
- Bouncy reduced
- Pedal lighter
- Power improved
- Speaker sound better
- Oil consumption improved compare to 1st gen (1st to 6th years) average 12km/l, new avanza (1st - 3rd years) 14km/l
8th years++, the 1st gen Avanza FC drop to 10km/l

I still look see look see, coz the model offered comes with baige fabric. People call me Mr Clean Freak, hence the question of using other option such as synthetic seat cover. I don't like if the baige fabric becomes smeared which will be the case in the long run.

Or how do you maintain the cushion fabric to remain pristine? Any cleaning routine? Or detailing shop worth recommending?

thumbup.gif I think fabric is harder to maintain compared to leather because leather is just wipe and also less dusty when one sits on it. I am having a hard time with my dark fabric (2004/05 model) too and I can't seem to get it cleaned properly. Tried febreeze, foam cleaner, vinegar etc but non seems to be a long term solution. Not sure why rclxub.gif rclxub.gif

Hi guys.

I've heard and read about the pros and cons of RWD cars, with one of them being easier to lose control under wet conditions.

Appreciate if long time drivers of RWD Avanza such as yourself could share your personal opinion on that?

Would be great if you guys could share your experience between driving FWD and RWD cars.

Thanks in advance!

I think if we were to drive sensibly, we should be able to avoid losing control no matter if the car is FWD,RWD, AWD,4WD. That said, I like it being RWD reason being if we are accelerating uphill, the rear driving wheels will support all the load transfer but what I don't like about it being a RWD is during rainy season, if you are on a slope stopping to pickup a parking ticket to enter a parking lot and the rear wheel sits on those iron/metal grates, mine tend to spin because it is not getting any traction and I have to let it backup a bit.

RWD or FWD doesn't matter. It's the driver skill. I whack fast n furious. I go at Sprint up to 120km/h no issue. I'm on 1st generation avanza.

Drivers loose control cause they don't know the car limitation. Also, how fast you driving on normal road?
