QUOTE(waiwai_wai @ Feb 26 2020, 09:27 PM) No, 2006 is 2nd or 3rd year for 1st batch. Mine came out in December 2004/Jan 2005 (based on my car reg card)QUOTE(butthead76 @ Feb 27 2020, 11:17 AM) Kanina.....my engine fan motor ko, not even 6 mths, workshop also surprised. Then motor melted the fan blade and 1 big fuse ko. So now workshop charge me for motor and fan blade rm250, give me foc labor and fuse..... Sorry to hear that butthead76. original fan motor normally not so fast but maybe bad luck. Hope no permanent damage to your car. I thought if original, a warranty is given? I don't know mine is original or not but can't remember changing it for as long as I have owned it (since 2011 3rd hand)Seriously now denso also can be defective..... |

QUOTE(zeng @ Mar 1 2020, 11:50 AM) The moment sensing my 2005 Avanza fuel consumption increases from 12.x km/L to 9.x km/L , I replace my cheapo RM12@ spark plug at 60000 - 70000 km usage with a gap width of 3 mm . Hmm, good suggestion there. Let me monitor my usage before thinking of the O2 sensor.New spark plugs set doesn't help at all . Went back to mechanic checking with computer software , identify and replace old original (293K km) O2 sensor with non-Perodua O2 sensor , consumption returns back to normal like before . Hence, IMO you need not change it until and unless you can detect/measure huge increase in fuel consumption .Yes, that is not in compliance with OEM recommendation . Note:The over-long usage (vs recommended 20K something km ?) cheapo spark plug set at 3 mm gap width could still deliver good fuel consumption at 12.x km/L until O2 sensor goes kaput in my Avanza . Whilst engine starting and acceleration pick up etc were normal and in good shape . |

What I normally try to do if I remember is to switch off the cooling and let just the fan blow until not cold anymore. Normally I will do this one or 2 roads before reaching destination. This one I read will help to dry out the coils / less mold build up due to condensation. In this, I hope that the coils last longer.
Some split unit air conditioner also has this function (e.g. Daikin) ![]() |

QUOTE(billyykl99 @ Mar 26 2020, 03:46 PM) Hi guys, im currently driving an avanza 1.3 2004 Can you describe further how does the jerking and shaking happen? (i.e. during idling/traffic light, or as building up speeds?)Recently i found that my gearbox is jerky even though i serviced well and this time i did put a bottle of gearbox treatment. Problem: Shaking and jerky while changing from 1st to 2nd gear sometime to 3rd gear Is it the problem caused by the failure of transmission filter? If you kept it in just one gear, e.g. 1st gear, does the problem still happen? The last time I had something like this happening to me was at a certain RPM and the cause was the VVTI actuator. In technical terms, the mechanic explained to me at high RPM when the VVTI advanced, a rubber piece broke and this does not allow the VVTI actuator to retard when the loud pedal was lifted off. In this sense, when I were to take off from a traffic light, my car would be at the wrong timing and would be spluttering along the way and gets smoother as RPM builds up. Once the car shifts from 1st gear to 2nd gear, the RPM drops and I start to splutter again until RPM builds up. If yours is the same like mine, try to get the mechanic to look at the VVTI actuator to see if any rubber piece has broken off or got stuck there. |

QUOTE(zeng @ Apr 20 2020, 09:38 AM) My 2005 Avanza 1.3 front wheel bearings lately gave some funny noise like a soft 'grrrrrrr' . After replacing the 2 bearings , it is normal again . This wheel bearing problem is like every 2-4 years . Whereas my wira and Prado do not have such problem . Any one here has similar problem at regular intervals ? Do you think this is abnormal ? TIA. QUOTE(iverice @ May 8 2020, 12:51 PM) Hmm so far the number of year I had my 3rd hand Avanza 2011 till now, I have only replaced once the bearings...all the ends at different times but still only once if my memory does not fail me. Here it teils some of the probable causes of wheel bearings going bad. https://www.moogparts.eu/blog/how-long-whee...rings-last.html Hope this helps. |

QUOTE(apizoHAFEEZ @ May 18 2020, 10:41 AM) I'm thinking of buying a 2nd hand avanza year 2007. Here's the details: If I remember correctly from an article a few years back, the 1.5 avanza was supposed to run 500 rpm lower compared to a 1.3 auto for the same speed. For example if 1.5 is doing 4k RPM at 100km/h, then 1.3 auto will be doing 4.5k RPM at the same speed. However, in your case, you may have the power but then you might not be enjoying fuel savings as it is still tied to a 1.3 gearbox...worst might even increase your fuel consumption.1. reg 2007 1.3 manual but owner change engine to 1.5. To date with new engine 34kKM only. 2. Interior and exterior mint looking since last owner took detailing work for this car very seriously. Even the seat is looking brand new. The owner used seat cover since day 1 and only remove them for selling. 3. Open price rm17k. 4. Overall condition: buy and drive. no need repair. Is this a good deal? Considering that I plan to use this car for 5 years before trading it with another one. Thanks for your input, cheers! if you are not well versed with a car workings, suggest to bring along your own trusted mechanic. Hope that helps. |

Another point to note is though we take care of the usual scheduled maintenance, if a car is constantly overloaded, something has got to give. If one is using the same mechanic, maybe he can try another mechanic for advice and also to see if there is a different way of doing things helps lengthen the lifespan of the wheel bearings

QUOTE(iverice @ May 20 2020, 05:07 PM) best way for him to check is take the car to 100km/h, if the car rpm at 100km/h is slighlty over 3k rpm, then it's 1.5 and the gearbox are good. Back in 2007 I think only 1.3 manual/auto and 1.5 auto wass released hence should be a 1.3 manual gearbox, Can someone driving a similar stock manual 2007 avanza 1.3 manual comment at the speed they are doing for the rpm? Let's say 3000 RPM in 1st gear what is the km/h reading, 2nd gear km/h reading all the way till 5th gear km/h reading. This will help apizoHAFEEZ for his baseline when doing the runs.if not then , need to investigate furthur. |

QUOTE(iverice @ Jun 1 2020, 02:28 PM) i prefer the stock fabric tbh, aftermarket leather cover is not nice from what i seems tbh. Seems like he already has btw u pull the trigger already on the car? I think apart from fabric, others will definitely be too hot to sit on...unless he cools down the interior before going in. Others I think will panggang belakang. |

QUOTE(apizoHAFEEZ @ Jun 3 2020, 06:18 PM) I still look see look see, coz the model offered comes with baige fabric. People call me Mr Clean Freak, hence the question of using other option such as synthetic seat cover. I don't like if the baige fabric becomes smeared which will be the case in the long run. Or how do you maintain the cushion fabric to remain pristine? Any cleaning routine? Or detailing shop worth recommending? |

I think if we were to drive sensibly, we should be able to avoid losing control no matter if the car is FWD,RWD, AWD,4WD. That said, I like it being RWD reason being if we are accelerating uphill, the rear driving wheels will support all the load transfer but what I don't like about it being a RWD is during rainy season, if you are on a slope stopping to pickup a parking ticket to enter a parking lot and the rear wheel sits on those iron/metal grates, mine tend to spin because it is not getting any traction and I have to let it backup a bit.

Try ask here see if got ECU if you suspect is ECU failure. Suggest to also bring your suspected faulty ECU along to check if the numbers match https://www.facebook.com/pages/category/Aut...35259856527931/

QUOTE(butthead76 @ Jul 24 2020, 10:33 AM) Again my starter mess with me today 1 time today. So brought to workshop again. Shop recommend to test by adding a relay to starter as he suspect not enough power due to age of the car. I check online the problems with no crank sound. 1 of the reason was not enough power. As my battery and alternator new. If this still won't solve it that means starter internal problem, maybe solenoid going to KO. Adding relay he say rm70 to 80. Ok lah. Do you mean when you turn your key from ACC to Start, no sound/click/something engaging at all? |

QUOTE(butthead76 @ Jul 25 2020, 01:38 PM) Correct, no sound at all. then when try again it barely crank and start. Yesterday, collect car with added relay tap from battery. Straight it start, wonderful. Now like new car....hahahah..... Can you share your mechanic workshop name and address? Might need to visit them too if near enough to have a look at my starter. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qiMtX4vYQnEI guess after long time wiring all going to KO. I guess maybe keep avanza for 3yrs or so more then will take over wife 2nd generation avanza. By the it would be a 5yrs old car. The I will repeat same process parts by parts replacement again. |
