Just took over wife avanza 1.5. Suspension bouncy as hell. Give me dizziness only.

I think either mod in stiffer shocks to try 1st, if fail then mod in stiffer spring. When I look at the latest model, the front coil spring rings is smaller and slightly thicker. Was consider if can fit the new coil spring and shocks from the latest model. Anyone know?

i have both new and old avanza but not yet change suspension, accept the bouncy reality

Today managed to troubleshoot jerking feel when up and down gears on auto.
The culprit was fault code not cleared. Once you cleared it, will be fine, smooth gear change.

As for suspension, workshop confirm rear shocks too soft. So checking what shocks to use. Will update once I get it done.

bro, u go where to do this ? I only feel jerking when P to R finish parking start leaving the place or when N to D during traffic light. Is it same problem as your ?

Nope. Mine is between gears. Try checking for any fault code and auto oil condition.

As for the bouncy suspension, I compared between old and new. The rear coil spring on old avanza less coil compared to new avanza. Both having similar cross section size. Means older version spring is stiffer. Hence, more damping required. Waiting for my workshop to hunt down better shocks for the rear. Once tested and works, will change out the front shocks too.

Not paid 2 times. More like paid for the 1st time then top up the difference between the recon and new compressor. Really sorry coz I don't remember the price already...but if I come across the bill again, will inform.

Avanza old vs new suspension

If u see the old spring, less coils so stiffer compared to new spring more coils so softer.

If u see the old shocks top and bottom cylinder almost same length, the new shocks top cylinder longer then bottom. Means new shocks more damping liquid medium or gas inside cylinder. Also the new cylinder is slightly bigger. Roll bar on new avanza also slightly thicker.

Sounds like new avanza more stable but i tried the new avanza, the engine performance improve alot but the bouncy feeling more worst

for me not bouncy the new avanza, solid suspension. just now I press the old avanza body down, so easily and bounced. new avanza hardly can press down, suspension is stiff.

i csn recommend Kyb rs ultra the silver colour
at first i replace all 4 absorber to kyb excel g which is more or the same with the stock absorber. i was not very happy with it so i chg the rear two absorber to kyb rs ultra, it really settle down the rear by alot. 100percent better than stock and excel g.
but let me tell u, now the prob is the front, cuz i domt noe maybe the rear is more planted right now it mades the front more bouncy.
so im now saving some money to change the front too.

opps, i type wrong, not the bouncy, i means when over the bumper, the 3rd row passenger will jump/bounch very high, higher than old avanza

Thanks, I was thinking to try that too on rear. If works then will change the front shocks too. The front I was considering to change the entire setup like the new avanza, shocks, spring and top spring mount. Not sure how much. Probably get my workshop to check pricing.

How much for the KYB RS ultra for the rear?

lol....reason because the coil spring is softer....that is why I am keeping my old avanza rear spring.

now saving money to cjg the front too.

I bought at Rm90 not inclusive of GST yet. The front was quoted rm148 not inclusive of GST yet.

Fitted the rear, OMG awesome. so much better handling, no more crazy bouncing feel. When took out the rear original to compared the size and dampening. Easily 2x more damping then the original. The size is slightly bigger. Now the front, me too saving up for front. Cost more for parts and labor too. Later will update the photo after fitting as a comparison.

I am running 195/60R15 tyres. Next year maybe 195/65R15 need better tyres. Currently on wet can feel not much grip.

nope, more stable at front now. Fuel tank full would be more stable. Once reach half tank, then front slightly more bounce.

Considering to put in those coil spring buffer silicon. I had it in my previous 4x4, slight improvements.
