as a fresh graduate and quit the job after working 1 week in the company.

reason is i felt like getting bullied by the manager, throwing every work to me. 4pm passed up 80+ invoices ask me to key in, no key in finish cannot leave. on first day they ask me to issue a cheque, i printed out upsidedown and told her i printed out wrong.. she direct tell me "if u dont think this job not suitable for u, u can just leave". so i left the company.

no OT pay. they replace OT pay to OT meal + taxi fare but only can claim if u work until 9PM.
what do you think?
*
Depend on your basic salary, my wife basic salary <SGD2k, got OT pay, 70% of working days need to OT, account payable, key in cheques, update GIRO payment from customer and etc..

I found out the first 2 years rate are reduced.
Y1 - Employee 5%, Employer 4%
Y2 - Employee 15%, Employer 9%
Y3++ - Employee 20%, Employer 17%

Correct me if I'm wrong. Just to make sure..

Anyone tried request/apply with employer to contribute at full employer-full employee rates instantly?
*
Yes, i did this, just ask your HR about that you want to have full contribution for the first year onward. You are required to fill up a form and yes, with your boss/CEO signature.
Then the form will send to CPF for approval, once approved, you can start to deduct 20% of your monthly salary.

I become moonlight clan immediately after -20%... my goal is to get 17% from employer and use it to buy HDB ASAP.

Hi guys, been a silent forumer all along. My EP application just got rejected recently and the employer is currently filing for an appeal. Not sure about the success rate tho,  however if I had secured another interview, can the new employer submit another EP application for me with the current appeal in progress?
*
Try both, the EP application rejection might because of the company (they might not fit the requirement to hire foreigners, eg: Starting from 1 July 2018, companies seeking to hire foreign employees on Employment Passes for positions where the fixed monthly salary is below S$15,000 must advertise the positions at the National Jobs Bank portal for at least 14 days. This applies to all companies with 10 or more full-time employees.)

Came in September 2016 on Student Pass
Did my Masters in a top French Business school here
Then on EP with annual 45k in a digital/accelerator startup (non-sales/biz dev/all in one role).

Stayed in this company 1yr1 month before getting an offer from a competitor.
Gonna start new company next month, age 27 this year.
Annual- base 80k + variable bonus 12-24k

But my PR got approved while I was still in this first company/with the lower package la

Lol guys. Need to rephrase.
It’s ‘one of the top’ French business schools, so not INSEAD, and not an MBA either as I was only 24/25 when I did the Masters degree.

Would have been impossible to enter INSEAD with their almost-perfect GMAT requirement and with the hotel management degree that I was holding back then from good old Taylor’s uni haha...

But yeah looking back, it’s been quite a nice journey...
Edit: Not sure if this made any difference in my PR outcome, I actually first came to Singapore in 2014 to do an internship as a waiter in a hotel (because of my hotel management degree) on a work permit but I didn’t really liked SG back then, so I left even before the 6-month contract was due
*
Anyway, 1 year ++ experience still can get 100%++ increment after jump ship still very impressive, at least to me haha, worked 5 years here still below 80k package.

Thanks man. I think a lot plays down to luck also. Never thought that I’ll be in the digital advertising line from the beginning. And coincidentally my current and future company regard themselves as ‘eternal enemies’, so that helped me a bit in negotiating the package too smile.gif
Maybe but not too different, unless when i start getting 6 digits a month, then that would quite different hahaha
*
Good that your current company never have rules to stop you joining competitors within xxx mths/yrs after resignation.

My office is on Orchard road, even an average food court meal costs me almost $10, then dinner outside with gf will be $30/40 average.
20 working days * $10 = 200
15 dinner meals a month * $40 = 600 (Meals paid alternatively between us)
Haven’t include weekend meals & I’m a bodybuilder so I don’t eat normal 1-person portions lol
*
How about breakfast?
Your life is different with many malaysian here liao lo, a lot of ppl still practice "one meal cannot more than SGD3/4" to save money..

Bodybuilder? I am sure you are fitness first member haha.

I guess different goals gua. I don’t simply spend, but I wouldn’t go until that extent to save that couple of $$.
Rather be in the long run to creating more value instead of trying to save more.

I don’t take anything for breakfast, been practicing intermittent fasting for some years already- saves time & lots of health benefits/mental focus

I put in the first piece of food during lunch time

Btw I go to Anytime Fitness for gym, paying my KL rates instead of local rates hehe. Plenty of branches here and I can still use it whenever I go back home/out travelling too
*
Same here, been practicing IF almost 9 months.. it really save a lot of times and i found 95% the breakfast here is not healthy.

Guys would like to ask you guy some advice.

Have you guys just reported to a new company for less than 1 month then decide to move to a new company as you get a better offer. Better offer in term of higher salary of 20%

Current company A : Basic + 1 aws + 3vb
New Offer : Higher basic (25%) + 1 aws + 0.5 vb
How you guys will choose?
*
Sure go for higher basic, personally i don't believe in BONUSes anymore, they can adjust whatever they like, unless it stated 3 months in your employment contract.
Please also consider that this 3vb will be prorated if your probation period is not counted.

Assuming your probation period is 3 months.

Current company A : 1x(12 + 1x0.75 + 3x0.75) = 15 mths
New Offer : 1.25x(12 + 1x0.75 + 0.5x0.75) = 16.40625 mths

If your current salary is SGD 5000, then you will earn extra SGD 7031.25 annually...

Well, somehow quite agree.
But A is quite a well known Mnc. While new offer is just a US manufacturing plant. Besides salary, it also have to compare in term of career growth and company culture as well.
A will required to do much OT and travelling. While factory will be in a stagnant life maybe after 3  years..
*
I see. We just give advice based on your monetary info.
Yes, the career growth and exposure also very important other than salary.
Perhaps you can provide more details about your job and company A business nature.
So we can advise accordingly

Should be around 4k plus. If you can get higher it’s good.

4k plus with AWS/bonuses or not..some company don't offer these..

Maybe better question is to ask annual package.

May i know why some of our fellow Malaysian convert to SG Citizen?
Is it because of cheaper HDB, child education, medical fees, extra leaves etc...?
Currently i am SPR, although all these benefits is quite significant but my gut feeling told me do not convert into SG Citizen.

If any of you in this forum never ever intent to become SG citizen especially those have children/family here, may i know the reason as well?

What is your question?
Q: You want to become recruiter, you are asking recruitment agency will offer perm position for recruiter?
Well yes, they will have perm position for the recruiter position.

Q: You want to get the job via recruiter from their client, you are asking recruitment agency will offer perm position for the job from their client?
Well it really depends on their client, if their client want to hire perm then the answer is yes.

QUOTE(ComputerIdiot @ Mar 16 2020, 09:37 PM)
Hi all..

After 5 months of pending period, I am getting my PR tomorrow. I have just booked a slot to meet ICA face-2-face documents verification. If nothing wrong will get it tomorrow.

I got question to ask regarding PR.

The main benefits I know as below :

- CPF (-20% salary contribution, employer will contribute +17%) total monthly will get 37% of your salary credit into CPF.
- ActiveSG cheaper price (not 3.30 it is likely 2.X)
- Can buy 2nd hand HDB, but cannot rent it out.
- Buy things from Malaysia no need to declare, if total purchase below SGD100

These are the main benefits between PR and Foreigner (EP/S/W permit).

I got a few question to clarify with you guys,

- Does PR (Nationality is Malaysia from West) allow to withdraw CPF in one-lump-sum withdraw all, when they are getting (50years old and 2 years never been working in singapore) or 55age already ?

so any age below 50 will not allow to withdraw right ?

- Renew every 5 years, most people say normally renew can be succeed, only if you never work for very long (almost a year or half year) so when renewing is having trouble. What if I am no longer working in professional field such as IT programmer role ? Now I applied successfully because of professional job role.

- For Information techonology field, programmer role, is PR easier to get a job ? I am looking for new job currently, I find that there are lots of job hunter agent they are just very annoying they spam posts everywhere in job website, except mycareersfuture.sg because this website is mainly for singaporean/pr only. I got lots of jobs from job agent they are applying for me but mostly no news and I have to hired under agent company most of it, I will be working for their client. I dont think this is good in term of benefits but my friends say as long as you can accept the expected salary it doesnt matter you work for who. The scenario is like I hire by agent company A, but I am going to work every day in client company B. Mostly contract base. So if I become PR, is it easier to find stable job as in permanent role hire directly by the local company / MNC company based in singapore. Any good way I can look for new job? I only tried monster/jobstreet... so far very hard to get one. Maybe it is because now is virus period.

Thank you so much for helping. Hope you all dont mind to share.

*
To me, the biggest benefit from getting PR easier to find job. Yes, as an IT professional, especially you are a Chinese.
When you say you no longer working as programmer, then what you intend to work as?
Work as a contractor (hire under agent and work in their client company) is not bad as long as the job fit your expected salary, career objective and minimum benefits such as 14 AL/ML, insurance..etc, remember, there is no such thing as stability, permanent role will also get retrenched or in danger if things go worse. For example one of my friend's company that affected by Covid-19, the company is forcing perm staff to take unpaid leaves until further notice meanwhile the contractor no affected.
The reason why you are not getting job because you are not PR yet, once you get then you will see the difference. Please open a LinkedIn as there are a lot of recruiters/headhunters will message you (I receive recruiter's message every week or even everyday)

Broo....thanks for being helpful. I totally agree with you. This situation is hard to get job and very competitive to get a job here in Singapore so there is no guarantee / stable job here. Don't work so hard for the company, I will say that local-company will never value you, they pay you they expect you to do everything for them thats it.
*
Job is a business, your boss buy your services and you provide your service to your boss.. that's it, when bad times come, not matter local SME or MNC, retrenchment will still happen.

Agree with this, in fact MNCs can be even more "heartless" in retrenching due to restructuring, etc which may happen even in good times
Seen it happen in every single company i worked with, although it didn't impact my team directly
*
Correct. So guys, keeping yourself competitive all time, prepare for worst situation, and do not over commit.

I agree, but working in Malaysia my previous company will never simply fire and they can't do it if employee didn't break any employment law. But in Singapore redundancy is just easily happen and they can ask you to leave anytime. I have learnt this 😂😂. Thanks alot bro. Now I will be applying job with PR status hoping to get a job soon. This month is very tough to look for new job
*
Once you get PR, it will be very easy to get offer (programmer) unless your are very incompetent.

If I'm graduate from a Private Uni from Malaysia and mainly working on enterprise software development in java in this 2 years, how much increment should I expect ?

Actually I'm don't really know how to calculate the expected salary since I never change job before.
Let's say my current salary is 4500,  do you think it is possible to get 10% to 15% higher pay with my current experience level? I
*
Now is the best time ever for you to jump ship (Indians hard to get into Singapore), you can command 20-40% pay raise if you join banking industry as contractor java developer.
You can try to ask for 5k - 7k.
