yes you can give birth here
no your kid cannot apply for citizenship (singapore is not a jus soli country)
your kid doesn't get automatic PR either, you have to decide whether you want to apply for him/her
etc
anyway after you give birth, you apply for a singapore birth certificate for your kid. then u take that and apply for malaysian birth certificate at high comm. then with that yih apply malaysian passport.
*
If wife or husband become citizen then can right? Either one citizen then children can get citizen also?

Hi guys, just got offer from semicon MNC for the job of engineer. They request me to send clear copy of passport for application of work pass which is understandable. Then, they request me to send tuition grant letter. May I know what is that?
*
https://tgonline.moe.gov.sg/tgis/normal/stu...sidyInfo.action

You graduated from SG uni? Otherwise I don't see why you will have that letter according to above website.

My guess is... The HR/whoever that email you sent out wrong email to wrong person biggrin.gif.

Maybe he/she is asking from other applicant.

QUOTE(WallChecker @ May 28 2017, 05:07 PM)
First part is true, but MOM has right to challenge and deny application. Second part is true as well.
Can, sure can.. MYR500k = Approx. SGD160k. I don't have exact figure of IB analyst, but I can roughly guess their total compensation (including bonus) is more than SGD80k p.a. (Any IB banker here can correct me if I am wrong? smile.gif )
Assuming flat 80k with no increment for next 4 years, that makes an average of 6.6k monthly.
Minus expenses for rental, living cost, statutory deductions and entertainment = 2.6k monthly (I know this may be huge amount for some - But let's assume expense for a Single bach and Ivy league grad).
If he/she has CPF/Pension plan, take home will be lesser, however actual earning is more than 80k p.a. now.
So, his/her saving p.a. is about 48k, and 4 years about 192k. Minus 160k of tuition fees.
That will leave him/her approx. 30k, for his/her vacation, saving, family, partners, etc.

p.a. = per annum.
Above is my personal assumption, definitely doable. Flat 4 years total compensation is unlikely, so gross income is higher over the years.
*
QUOTE(iceypain @ May 28 2017, 11:13 PM)
total gross compensation is closer to 150-170k for first years, so yeah def not impossible to pay back 500k ringgit in 2-3 years.

but i should add that ivy league undergrad would cost at least 1M ringgit these days
*
Wow seriously? Freshie getting 80k pa? shocking.gif shocking.gif

You think IRAS will give you such a huge loophole, stay in JB no need to pay SG tax? doh.gif
Residency (physical address) and Tax Residency are two separate concepts. Go look up how IRAS defines tax residency.
*
Non-resident rate is higher la bro.

He's just asking if put JB address but work in SG, they qualify as tax resident or non-resident. Non-resident rate is much higher. Like 20% iinm.

No need. Just turn on your sim card. Off data roaming will do. 15 years ago maybe you need to activate. Not now.

It depends on your company. You can also request for E Pass but subject to MOM approval.

Cannot request. S Pass and E Pass same form. Submit see MOM give which one.

But S Pass depend on quota. Not e pass.

QUOTE(Carl Johnson @ Jun 2 2017, 08:43 PM)
let see let me break down mine,

I get salary 3.5k
rental in novena 450 (cheap rite smile.gif even my sg colleagues also terkejut but no air con of course medium room no share)
bus (0.77 per single trip so go and back 1.54 one month around 40 )
phone bill company allowance s$50  so  0 expense for me
buy a honda city for mom in msia installment RM800 per month around S$266
air ticket back penang can claim from company twice per yrs 0 expense for me
yamcha with frn S$100 per month
makan & Daily necessities per month S$500
active sg gym once per week 3.3*4=13.2

SO 3.5-450-40-266-100-500-13.2 = 2130.8

Am I too jimat??  blush.gif

Normal bah... Considering you pay the car loan for malaysia and that your room rental is so cheap for single person.

I see, perhaps having some SG working experience in your resume will help you get a job there

My personal opinion, you shouldn't save kao kao just to move to NZ, that's what ppl usually do to move back to MY
NZ should be able to give you a pretty good pay when you get there
You can't go there first and look for a job either if I understand correctly, so your savings won't help you achieve that long term goal too much

Need silverfern visa.

But to get that, need to take/retake ielts.

This is not correct, not all MY operators had their lines enabled auto-roaming. Most prepaid are not on auto-roaming (may have additional charges just to activate roaming), and low end postpaid as well. Especially Umobile plans cause I have friends on Umobile and they have no signal when they came to SG.
*
Nah... My Umobile and celcom straight away can roam in SG.

Maybe isolated case or their sim card too old d.

QUOTE(wen94qin @ Jun 5 2017, 12:01 AM)
Hi sifu,
any idea for electrical & electronics engineering ?
have been working in penang for close 2 years and gettting a degree soon,
any guide from all sifu around ?
thank you
*
Which field you planning to go into?

You do know that 3E (E..E..E...) is a super broad field right?

You can go electrical path or electronics path, do construction (residential/commercial electricity), panel/switch gear (manufacturing/project), HV distribution (Singapore power?), be electrical project engineer (in main con vs in electrical contractor), cross field into mechanical, go aviation (coz got electronics), do programming (coz 3E does learn some programming and usually good at logic thinking & debugging), semicon (manufacturing/design/product engineer) etc etc.

Such a broad field. Where to start? laugh.gif Want go automotive also can. General degree mah tongue.gif

QUOTE(wen94qin @ Jun 5 2017, 12:27 AM)
Hi ,
does that mean UK degree in SG with 2yrs exp in factory as a technician can get around 3.8k ?
(freshie in progress) but my UK degree is distance learning, how to count ?
my degree is electrical and electronics , any hope to find a job with around 4k salary ?
icon_question.gif  icon_question.gif  icon_question.gif  icon_question.gif
*
Erm... Your UK degree is it washington accord compliant? Otherwise you might need to take additional half year course locally. Not so sure for SG but that's the case for Malaysia. If you go the electrical route, with UK degree you can't directly register with Malaysia's BEM & IEM. They don't recognise it.

Wow thanks for the tip , most likely I will go to electronic side to continue my career due to I am working in manufacturing (test department) before and now still in debbuging field at lab environment, might still stick to electronic side

About the electrical route maybe a no-no for me, I left my mechanical part long time ago, what about going to electronic site ? Any other requirements ? I have heard one of my friend SG welcome ppl with degree with working experience true or not ?
*
Sorry then I'm in electrical field can't help much tongue.gif

Quite true. But see your salary requirement also. Down here I think manufacturing and semicon jobs quite much less d. Too high cost biggrin.gif If programming I think got better luck. Some of my friends doing quite well in programming field.

I just received offer letter but its not my first choice...
I am currently waiting for another offer from.mnc...
Lets say i work for 3 months++ with EP...can i switch to this new job if i get the offer?
Any issue on MOM side?
*
No problem with mom but not sure if you can explain it to the mnc company. They can apply ep for you even when you're still with previous company as long as you didn't officially work for both company during the same period of time. Your second choice can cancel your ep when you officially leave them.

I still think the problem will be with the mnc company. Since you applied as fresh but end up you started working before waiting for their offer. Not sure if they will still hire you when you reveal it to them. No harm to try though. Can give reason coz you need that income for your family.

QUOTE(veger_leong @ Jun 5 2017, 01:38 PM)
Same the head hunter said it is like 10+- only but if this is the case what's th3 motivation for hopping around
*
No more 20%??

Compare benefit, working hour, work load etc. Now I'm waiting another promotion to higher rank then probably gonna lookout for opportunities to jump ship. Working hour too long, certain period have to work 7 days a week, go home late everyday offer letter 5.30 never really 5.30. Work late but can't absent from morning as other parties work day hour only etc etc. 5.5 official workday, much less chance to make use of the weekend. Half day on Saturday normally end at 5-7pm just like normal workday. Expanded too fast also within the last 3 years of stay here. Benefits and bonus keep shrinking too. Overall salary package shrunken from previous year although got a pay raise.

All and all... But still good promotion progress. Just move higher then go out and aim for higher position. Can demand higher pay also tongue.gif

For microelectronic field, Front End moves faster than Back End in term of career progression. This is due to high turnover rate as the working environment is much more stressful. Comparing to manufacturing in general, you will see your pay higher than low tech field but comparing to professional job market as a whole, manufacturing line is the lowest. Definitely able to earn enough for living but very very basic lifestyle.
*
I did have one friend worked for a semicon before. Earn bloody a lot from the overtime but no time to rest. Sometimes midnight work till 3-4 then 10am got meeting. Siao one... After OT he's getting like 5k+ for a fresh grad. He quitted just few months after that. Too pathetic. Never really bother to ask what he did when he was inside though.
