What do you mean? This kc3000 for lappy?

How bro i still can cancel is this for laptop? Lol

If ur buying that RAM for ur laptop, then sorry to say its not compatible. Its for a desktop PC.

I would suggest you read up and get to know PC hardware stuff better before putting ur money. Yes RAM & SSD prices will go up next year but making such mistakes is an awful lot more costly if you didnt realise it too late.

Hello, sorry for the long story, stuck on what to best get

I am using a pc from many years ago (2016ish i think), specs below. Currently struggling to play Horizon Zero Dawn smoothly, i guess due to the GPU memory not enough..also bought God of War from the recent steam sales. Planning to also buy a mix of either Stray / Baldurs Gate 3 / Death Stranding / Cyberpunk also. Want to keep playing at 1920x1080 resolution

CPU: Intel i5-6500
Motherboard: Asustek H170m-plus
RAM: 1x Adata 8GB DDR4 2400Mhz
GPU: Leadtek GTX 1050
Storage: 1x Samsung SSD 750 EVO 120GB, 1x Toshiba 1TB HDD
PSU: AcBel PCB041 (not sure exact, it puts rated 500W max 550W)
Case: Corsair carbide spec alpha
Monitor: Samsung S24D330 24in 60Hz

[Budget] 2k
Some of my own thoughts..over-reading online past few days lol
- Adding 1 more similar RAM for dual channel + buying new GPU that can go with current PSU, then change others in the future then re-use the GPU
- Change motherboard+cpu+ram first, then later GPU+PSU
Or, will it be much better to save up more for a whole new setup? (my max 6k+)

[Purpose] Playing games at 1080p 60fps at mostly high setting (don't have to be all ultra setting)

[Location] mainland penang..i got this current setup from a pc shop nearby me and its been working well all this while....TQ!

Saja add screenshot details using msi afterburner for reference

*
Budget kinda low if you wanna play 1080P Cyberpunk (and more) at smooth 120 FPS. Needs at least 3k

Target GPU minimum 4070 (RM 2.8k) / RX7700XT (RM 2.4k)

https://www.lazada.com.my/products/pny-gefo....32a917035WhFIs
https://www.lazada.com.my/products/sapphire....5db27be04nr1Xj

Then ur need to add 1 more stick of RAM for Dual channel, it will help gameplay 1% & 0.1% lows.

Then ur PSU defo will not handle any GPU upgrades, needs at least FSP Hydro G/PT (<RM500)
https://www.lazada.com.my/products/fsp-hydr....44cd7942AlRgXm

You can carry these over to a new build but imho for Cyberpunk @100+FPS, it will do for now. Not sure on PL DLC tho.

Thanks for the recommendation, ya those 2 gpu will be overbudget for me already
The other recommendation of rtx 3060 12gb seems reasonable..happy to maintain at 60fps at the moment (the HZD screenshot was hitting unstable 30fps at 720p resolution lol so a good 60fps 1080p mostly high setting will be cantik already for me)
*
3060 12GB will be about 60-75 FPS on High. With DLSS Quality 75-90 FPS.

But act fast as stocks wont last forever and those remaining likely will be crappier 8GB version.

LOL are you gonna be asking for every single component kah? Basically once you reach higher segment GPU & other parts (ie Mobo) there arent any really bad brands.

Asus is not bad at all but overpriced for what it is, if money is a factor get from lower brands like Palit, Zotac, Colorful. Asus tend to overspec with chunggous cooler (for ROG & TUF line) which causes GPU sag so if you going for Asus route, must get a GPU stand.

The same goes there arent really any bad Z790 / Z690 mobos on the market.

bro i have bought i7 14700k and kingston 3600mhz 16gb x 2. my ssd kingston kc3000 got cancelled by seller lol

i am buying a motherboard now but i youtube and google dont know what they talking

the msi pro z790-p and Asus ROG Strix Z690-A D4 between these two does it make any differences in term of performance?

or it is a good build with a good cpu and gpu? other parts just normal will do?
*
You dont know cuz you jump right in and asking if this is better or that is better without knowing why. Unless ur getting Godlike or ROG Maximus there is no one which is overall "better" than the other except its listed specs & features.

Asking like that even patient sifus here will soon beh seong spoonfeeding you. Instead of rushing to get one, why not try relax, take a deep breath, and learn the basics about current hardware, what makes one better than others in areas where its important to YOU, and dont be a brand zombie otherwise your overpaying for something you dont actually need or ever use (see Asus tax). Without knowing why your buying what, even with an 10k budget you might still have an imbalanced build if you give it to an unscrupulous seller.

Try brushing up your knowledge from sites like https://www.cgdirector.com/

Once you have a better picture, you will know what those questions from TristanX is hinting you about.

Looking at you buying in pieces it appears to be a custom build... sorry to say this but judging from (apparent to me) your lack of current PC hardware knowledge, once you have all of these I would advice giving it to someone else more knowledgeable to build, install OS, and tune the system before hand to you.

*
This is the spec page for the mobo of your query.
https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/PRO-Z790-A-...I/Specification

Do be careful as there can be same mobo family that supports different RAM generations ie
(DDR4) https://www.lazada.com.my/products/msi-pro-...9765338395.html?
(DDR5) https://www.lazada.com.my/products/msi-pro-...0896546114.html?

You bought DDR4 so make sure to buy a DDR4 mobo.

I think what TristanX means is only after knowing key info such as the SUPER's performance and price adjustment to both 4080 and 4080 SUPER, we will know whether to get 4080 or 4080 SUPER

Maybe the 'not worth' is referring to as in new card coming out very soon, can wait a bit more and see how things are like before buying. Then compare, decide

Hope I got this right...
*
If you see from a pricing per generation GPU perspective, 4080 is totally not worth it in comparison to older 80 series family

user posted image

The price rise from 680 to 3080 has been gradual but from 3080 to 4080 the hike is so out of whack that even JTC complains.

Hi, is it possible to get a pc without monitor to play Dota 2 with a budget of 1.5k ? or better off with a 2nd hand pc ?
*
Maybe, yes but expect no better than cybercafe gaming PC;
Ryzen 5600G + B550M (RM 1030)
https://www.lazada.com.my/products/gigabyte...7741070635.html?

2x8GB DDR4 RAM (RM 95x2 = 190)
https://www.lazada.com.my/products/kingston...1544875101.html?

250GB SATA3 Sam 870EVO (RM 143)
https://www.lazada.com.my/products/samsung-...5017689231.html?

Cheapo case with OEM 550W PSU (RM 95) only useful with igpu. Replace if want to upgrade with a GPU
https://www.lazada.com.my/products/pc-casin...8475417684.html?

Balance RM42, buy extra fans. This cheapo case lacks some.

Expect 1080P Medium settings to get >100FPS.

At such low budget used maybe even better but caveat emptor when dealing used stuff.

I agree with you. Just that with the 4080 SUPER variants out, it's probably gonna be around the price range of 4080 which is the exponential increase anyways.

And if waiting for RTX 50 is not realistic (and assuming they're any good), it sucks, but you just have to settle with RTX 40 (or go with AMD cards if you're purely gaming).
*
If 4080S slots into 4080 price range and pushes the ori 4080 down a tier to 4070TI price then it would this card a much better deal at least back to 3080 pricing but reports stated its likely the ori will be phased out since at that tier will have 4070TI Super so that lower high end segment will be cramped with options if NVIDIA stuck to all their models.

Even in the West, ori 4080 MSRP pricing dont make much sense as buyers would rather topup the difference and get 4090 instead. Shortage now is temporary due to China, once the ban stabilises few months later supply will resume so any 80 series is pointless, just save up a bit more and get 4090.

My idea for a Jan 2024 budget build with upcoming 14th Gen Refresh nonK CPU
CPU 13700F / 14700F (will come in Jan 2024)
MOBO MSI B760M-A DDR4
RAM 32GB (16x2) Corsair vengeance 3200 DDR4
GPU RX6700XT / RX6750XT / RX7700XT / RTX 4070 if budget can still fit (7800XT pun boleh but then will need to up the PSU to 750/850W Gold)
SSD 1TB either S70 Blade / Legend 960 / KC3000
PSU MSI MAG A650BN / FSP HVPRO 650W
Case Tecware Nexus Air / Montech Air 1000 (both ATX casing)
or else Nexus Air M2/Forge / Montech Air 100 (MATX casing)
Cooler can use back Intel stock box cooler but if noise/temp is an issue get PA/PS 120/SE
Pricing sendiri cari but most likely will be within 5k

Or TristanX AM4 alternative
Ryzen 5 5600 - 565
Asrock B550M Pro4 - 449
Kingston HyperX Fury Beast 16GB DDR4-3200 kit - 189
MSI RTX 4070 12GB Ventus 2X - 2750
Kingston KC3000 1TB - 329
Adata Core Reactor 750W - 469
Montech Air 903 Max case - 329
RM5080 total (Shopee prices)

Or Myway balls to the wall alternative except w/o GPU (can upgrade later when got money)
i7-14700k RM1,999.00 (igpu can get ave 44FPS for Dota2 @1080P High)
z790 msi p wifi RM1,099.00
32gb 3600mhz kingston fury RM360.00
1tb kc3000 RM345.00
1st player steampunk 850 gold RM399.00
azza hive 450m RM259.00
thermalright ultra extrene 120 RM259.00
RM4,720.00

Ok. Thank you for the recommendations. Probably Jan/Feb. Just that I'm not really into PC building. Looking into buying laptop as well. But for the same budget, PC will be better in terms of spec. Any recommended place can offer service to build the pc. Buy from their shop and ask them to assemble or buy the component first and ask any shop to assemble?
*
Laptop has different usage bro. Think whats important to you.

If need to be traveling sometimes bring computer then defo get a lappie, yes specs will be quite inferior to desktop PC for same price but you gain in portability. And you can work & game on the go wherever.

If ur not traveling that needs computer or ady have a lappie for such purpose, then yeah better to get a desktop PC as its more value for ur money spent.

Sifu Myway here is system builder based in KL can try him out.

That price was from old stock. NAND flash industry predicted the demand wrongly earlier and had a lot of inventory. The clearance is done now.
*
https://www.techspot.com/news/100728-time-b...nand-flash.html

Market trend predicts price rise will only up to 13% by end this year but now even non-Samm drives are going higher at least 20%, this rise is more than just price normalisation with inventory cleared up. Local SSD current pricing is looking at the worst of worst case scenario. Its totally out of whack.
Something else is pushing the rise % even higher.

Hi sifus, want to get some rig recommendation for my gf.

[B][Budget] 2.5k - 3k

[Purpose] Your usual day-to-day internet surfing, light gaming (no AAA games), some data works and maybe some light video editing.

[Hardwares that will be re-use] Monitor, keyboard, mouse, headphones..

[Monitor resolution] 1920 x 1080

[Games & softwares that use frequently] Terraria, Stardew Valley, Sims, CSGO, some MMO, Canvas, Excel, Tableau.

[Personal preferences] GF wanted the rig to be either in pink or white. Preferably NVME to store windows and important programs and a separate HDD for games (doesn't care if games takes longer time to load). Either Intel/AMD fine. Stocks cooling should suffice (?).

[Location] KL

I know the budget is on the lower side given how prices of parts have already increased vs few years back, but seeing if it's still possible to get something up. Few questions:

1) With the usage/games/softwares that will be used here, can the rig handle them without dedicated GPU (say running 60-100 fps on medium-high settings, no ultra etc)?

2) Would I be better off hunting the parts and build it myself or getting those pre-build PC from those online sites?

Thank youu
*
Thematic build are quite hard to do on a limited budget. No guarantees on pricing but a budget white build can try;

CPU i5-12400 (min) / 13500 (if budget can fit)
Mobo Asrock B760M Pro RS DDR4 - silver/whitish theme on black PCB
RAM Corsair VENGEANCE LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4 (White)
512GB / 1TB KC3000 (whichever still fits ur budget cap)
PSU MSI A650BN / FSP HVPRO 650W
Case Tecware Nexus M2/Forge / Montech Air 100 (White) - either both will hide the black PSU
White sleeve extension cables preferably from known OEM brands ie Tecware, Asiahorse
GPU This is optional if light MMO games, can run off the igpu. Also White theme GPU are not easily available. There is Colorful igame 3050
https://www.lazada.com.my/products/colorful...2954447624.html
Or something much more powerful but double the price

Hey thanks for the recommendation. I should maybe specify it clearer haha.. just the case being pink or white is good enough. biggrin.gif
*
I forgot to add in SSD - KC3000 see which size still fits ur budget.
Also forgot to add in cooler but thats optional, can use back Intel box stock cooler but also can use SE224XT/XTS (white) if got budget

If only case needs to be specific colour then it makes things easier but still the spec I reco boleh pakai just that you can opt for standard black parts if white got no stock, can delete the sleeve extensions too.

If you can do a full white build, actually it looks so much nicer really. rclxms.gif

Regarding the KC3000, it is using PCIe 4.0 right. Does that mean if I want to put it into a A520M-A Pro mobo (AMD set up), it wouldn't run?  rclxub.gif
*
It will work but will only run at PCI-E Gen3 x4 speeds. Basically wasted. Get Transcend MTE220S which is a good Gen3 SSD.

Just purchased this spec last week and was thinking of having APU for the first few months and upgrading with GPU later. While I'm looking around for a used card and comes to RX6600 & RX660XT, I have been told that the CPU will be the bottleneck of the GPU due to the PCIE3 connectivity compared to the PCIE4 connectivity on 5600/x.

I wasn't aware of this, while I thought 5600G was the exact version of 5600 but with an additional iGPU.

Is that true? If so, then I might be sticking with it for longer period and only do upgrade once together with the CPU and GPU.  sad.gif
*
Keep the system then upgrade GPU to 6600XT / 6700XT. Yes if use as it is will CPU bottleneck but I doubt will be anything much noticeable (Gen3 & Gen4 speeds really not that much difference, only 4090 can fully saturate Gen4 bandwidth). Then later 1 year or so can upgrade CPU to 5800X3D or 5000GT series.
AMD has uncanceled AM4 EOL. LOL!
