Thanks for the recommendation.

How about if I'm okay with running game at 1080p. Can it be done with around RM5k budget with RTX 4070 Super?

Or get better CPU (i5-14500) with cheaper GPU like rtx 3060?
*
Running 1080p on 4k monitor will be blurry. If thats the standard you want. You jumped into 4k resolution without checking the requirements anyway.

5k with RTX 4070 Super is a bit of a stretch.

Core i5-12400F - 599
MSI B760M-E DDR4 - 455
Kingston HyperX Fury Beast 32GB DDR4-3200 kit - 368
Inno3D RTX 4070 Super 16G Twin X2 - 3059
Adata XPG SX8200 Pro 1TB - 299
MSI A650BN - 209
Montech Air 1000 case - 195

RM5184 total (Shopee prices)

You wanna go even lower than 4070 with that monitor. I would advise not going lower just in case you are not happy with the picture quality.

Hello sifus, my laptop got into accident, bought 2020, no plan to upgrade or change quite satisfied but accident happen, sent to illegear they cannot repair, something2 motherboard,

prev laptop: illegear ares 5, amd r5 3600, screen 144hz, 16g ram, rtx 2070 s, 500gb ssd, RM6413,

Now plan to get desktop, upgrade spec from above, complete with os, office home etc2
[Budget] Around 8(heartache),

[Purpose]Gaming(heavy)/browsing-work(research)/movies

[Hardwares that will be re-use] AOC 24" 1080p monitor 144 hz (plan to give my sibling), mouse, keyboard

[Monitor resolution] Want to try 2k gaming, can recommend this too, if cannot fit budget than just use 1080p above

[Games & softwares that use frequently] I played lots of games, AAA, turn based, rpg, arpg, rts, fps,

[Personal preference]

never do assemble parts before or order one by one,
so something2 like customizing parts online is preferred like idealtech/illegear/lenovo etc2,
can recommend wifi booster too?

bro, i went to china forum to be precise is jginyue tieba, and many complain about overheating issue.

beside that i just see that colorful got b760i frozen itx mobo. what do u think on this? price is around 700

edit: see wrongly is D4 for RM700 plus sweat.gif

Get cooler that blows to the board like Thermalright AXP90-X53 or AXP120, Scythe Big Shuriken. Its gonna struggle cooling 14500 though.

Another option is sticking a fan on the VRM.

Hi, Thanks for your reply. Do you mean use back the same motherboard but with 5800x3D and ddr4?

Actually I quite concern of Ryzen temperature, and prefer to go for ddr5 since the cost of ddr5 is quite ok now.

Thanks again.
*
Update the BIOS and 5800X3D will work. Thermalright Peerless Assassin or Phantom Spirit will get the job done for cooling.

Thanks bro. Is it 5800x3d better gaming performance than Intel 14500?

and to play safe, is it better that if I change my current mobo to any other newer MOBO?

Thanks.
*
Ignore this from that reply.
QUOTE
While a 5800x3d would work on a motherboard like that, there would be noticeably lower cpu clock speeds because the vrm wouldn't be able to deliver enough power.

It should able to handle 5800X3D.

The performance?

QUOTE(Wonka @ Apr 12 2024, 02:15 PM)
Honestly I haven't used any AMD parts before so I am not too sure what you mean by be my own technician. Usage is mainly to game.

Actually my budget is approximately 5k for parts replacement only. Most parts actually to replace like the CPU, GPU, RAM, PSU and cooler. Only think I reuse is my m2, monitors and case biggrin.gif

But based on the pricing I checked online and store, Intel parts seems to be cheaper and not planning to do any OC. The thing I am actually looking/comparing is:
i5 14400F + B760 board or/
Ryzen 5 7600 + B650 board

32GB DDR5 6000mhz (16x2)
750W PSU semi modular
Deepcool AK400 air cooler
RX7800XT 16GB GPU
*
Ignore 14400. Go for 14500 instead. 14400 only got 4 e-cores, 14500 got 8 e-cores and more clock speed.

QUOTE(TheLegend27 @ Apr 12 2024, 10:19 PM)
guys i got another 2 question.
1. regarding gpu, any single fan white gpu 2 slotted gpu recommended? rtx 3060/4060

2. noctua L9i cooler sufficient for asrock b750m-itx-D4, 14500 and the above gpu?
*
L9i will severely bottleneck 14500.

LOL! Yep saw that but do read it carefully as it relates to only Ksku CPU and most users that had issues are 14900K. Most have the theory that it related to the infamous Ksku excessive power draw when that CPU goes PL2 unlimited which then fights the equally huge power draw from Nvidia GPUS.

So when you power limit the CPU even for 14900K (which games usually dont use full power) people have no issue. So its looks to be a nothingburger too

https://www.guru3d.com/publish/comments/nvi...ability-issues/

Perhaps Tristanx with his 13900K & RTX 4080 would have commented if his got problems much earlier?  biggrin.gif

I don't have Unreal Engine games to play. No crashes. I love my things so I don't let it overheat too.

https://fudzilla.com/news/58781-chipzilla-s...urned-in-droves  rolleyes.gif

Looks like Intel got too desperate in pushing the chip to limit and eventually the chip becomes unstable even with the stock voltage curve?  console.gif
Different context. This is the case of pushing thing out of spec, which is obviously normal as not guaranteed.

------------------------------

A thing to note now is both camp are trying to push the chip as high clock as possible by providing high voltage when out of factory. It is just the matter of time when the stock curve no longer can fulfill after using for some time. The argument is weak on saying Intel is more stable, and I showed the contradiction.

So now I have AMD server running 24/7 without failure after years and so can I claim AMD is more stable? I afraid not.
*
Read this carefully.
https://www.tomshardware.com/pc-components/...t-intel-support

My one year of 5900X experience was terrible. Crash at stock XMP (AMD certified RAM) and stability issues. Patience gone and went 12900K instead.

Then you have this

And this.

AMD sells potato chips to people. Oh, 7800X3D killing itself and motherboard last year was LOL. So yeah, thats AMD quality for you.

dear sifus,

i have the chance to get back the refund of my deposit now.

Can anyone recommend me a best value rig combination now?

I want this as my case so this is fixed.
Case: Lian Li O11 Vision (White)

processor i prefer intel minimum i5 (latest gen).
graphic card i prefer nvidia that minimally can play AAA titles such as Howard Legacy at 1080p.

theme wise i prefer a all white rig with RGB.

budget wise last time it was between rm8k to 10k.
but any lower now I will be happy.  tongue.gif
*
I thought I've recommended one earlier...

Core i5-14500 - 1169
Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 White ARGB - 155
Colorful B760M Gaming Frozen V20 D4 - 779
Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB DDR4-3200 White kit - 429
Colorful RTX 4070 Super White Ultra OC - 3338
Samsung 990 Pro 1TB - 529
NZXT C750 - 565
Lian Li PC-O11 Vision White - 629
Arctic P12 Max X4 fans - 62 X4

RM7841 total (Shopee prices)

You can switch Arctic P12 Max fans to white ones since got excess budget.

Hi guys, looking for a recommendation for a new rig

My budget is around RM5K but if possible i want to know what i can get for budget around RM4K also, see if the improvement isn't a lot then i can just settle with RM4K rig

For the case i prefer to use JONSBO D41 white but if there's other better recommendation also can consider

Mostly just for normal daily usage and a bit of gaming for games like assassin creed etc

Also can anybody recommend a shop in penang that i can just purchase the specs and set up everything for me like one stop shop? I have heard about illegear before but i'm not sure about the quality, i searched the reviews before but looks like not very good also
*
How about these?

Core i5-14500 - 1169 (ebucket Penang)
Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE - 139
MSI B760M-A Pro Wifi - 639 (ebucket Penang)
Kingston HyperX Fury Beast 16GB DDR4-3200 X2 - 374 (Just IT)
Palit RTX 3060 12GB - 1261 (Thunder Match)
Samsung 990 Pro 1TB - 539 (HTech)
Corsair RM650 Plus or MSI A650GF - 429
Jonsbo D41 White case - 409 ( WGTech )

RM4959 total (Shopee prices)

Oh, I despise 8GB cards. Its not enough for newer games.

For 4k build...

Core i5-12400 - 725 (ebucket Penang)
MSI B760M-E - 455
Kingston HyperX Fury Beast 16GB DDR4-3200 X2 - 374 (Just IT)

Btw, do you have any recommendations for low profile (not too bulky) cpu air cooler that is easy cleaning and maintenance too? White colour is a plus biggrin.gif
*
You are on Fractal Design R6. Shouldn't have space issues. Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE is great price / performance. If you still want low profile...

Thermalright AXP120-X67
AXP90-X53

I wouldn't go lower than that for 6 core CPU.
