QUOTE(babylon52281 @ Oct 13 2024, 10:20 AM) No just that with your current RAM being ady slow enuff, setting to 2T will have higher latency so your not even using current stick to its max potential. Try going to bios and set RAM CMD to 1/1T/1N. With another stick will sure see some boost due to dual channel rather than more capacity or faster speed (any faster stick will downclock to the slowest RAM). The cpu in that pc is i5-7500. So the maximum ram it can support is DDR4-2133/2400, DDR3L-1333/1600 only. Value RAM are quite affordable, <RM150 for 2x8GB of 3200MHZ so if you can spend that bit more, no need to cripple your system with a slow older RAM stick. So 3200Mhz ram also will be capped the speed. So what I need is an extra 8gb ram to improve the performance of it if it does. My graphic card is 1050. Do u think by adding 8gb ram will help in the speed of web browsing at least? QUOTE(babylon52281 @ Oct 13 2024, 10:25 AM) Ic. Good to know that. Then I can buy from them. Dun mind to spend about rm75 to just add 8gb more ram. This post has been edited by westlife: Oct 13 2024, 11:15 AM |

QUOTE(babylon52281 @ Oct 13 2024, 11:29 AM) Thought your refering to that 12400F system, if it the older unit then not need Fury Beast cuz will be overkill. Just get 8GB value ram will be fine. As for web browsing it depends, it will make system feel less 'heavier' esp when your have dozens of tabs loaded. But web loading speed depends more on how fast your WIFI/LAN/internet speed. Ya referring to my old pc which is a spare web browsing and productivity work machine now.But somehow the web browser is not snappy as my 12400F system. So thinking of adding ram to improve it. Any recommendation of the ‘value ram’ that can be found on the market now? So far I checked the cheapest one is the rm75 one sold by the reputable store on Shopee… |

QUOTE(kingkingyyk @ Oct 13 2024, 03:07 PM) ok.but notice that this KINGSTON FURY BEAST BLACK 8GB /16GB / 32GB DDR4 2666MHZ / 3200MHZ / 3600MHZ Gaming Ram is the cheapest. even cheaper than the same brand 'value ram' is it normal? even the price and spec i believe it is no brainer that i should go for this gaming ram instead of the value ram rite? ![]() but my current ram is actually this one... not sure if i am add in the gaming ram above together with my this current ram (seems to be value ram) will it cause any compatible issue or not. my mobo is ASUS H110M-K motherboard, i think it limits the ram speed to 2133 MHz and support a maximum ram capacity of 32 GB (across 2 DIMM slots). Even though the i5-7500 CPU can theoretically support RAM speeds of up to 2400 MHz, the H110 chipset limits the memory speed to 2133 MHz. So, the highest supported RAM speed for this setup is 2133 MHz. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() This post has been edited by westlife: Oct 14 2024, 12:10 PM |

QUOTE(kingkingyyk @ Oct 14 2024, 03:30 PM) Fury Beast cheapest model's price is indeed as low as value RAM. Icic. Then it is ok. I bought this for rm70 factoring in the shipping charge too. Not the best deal but good enough to try to see the performance improved even by a little bit after that. Last amount of money I invested on this old pc that is purely used as secondary and for web browsing and productivity work only. Since this outdated ddr4 ram is not going to be used for any of my newer or future pc. 🤪 ![]() This post has been edited by westlife: Oct 14 2024, 04:22 PM |

QUOTE(babylon52281 @ Oct 14 2024, 04:29 PM) Your current RAM is valueRAM alrite so to ensure best compatibility better to pay that bit more for value ram stick. But at its 2133mhz Im not sure if new RAMs would be compatible cuz most if not nearly all starts at the current lowest JEDEC speed of 2400MHZ even for the Fury Beast. So Im sure if it can downclock below its min settings to pair with your ancient 2133 unit. yes, likely can downclock becos his fury beast can XMP, but both value ram and fury beast one at this price support 3200MHz only. but no matter which ram, the maximum speed is already capped by my mobo which is 2133MHz.... i know mine is value ram but fury beast is better and more ppl use rite? at least if my PC died next time, at least this can be sold 2nd hand or pass on to anyone else? I dun mind to take the risk to try out though... |

QUOTE(babylon52281 @ Oct 15 2024, 09:08 AM) Err XMP not the same as downclocking below specs tho... as XMP settings is hardwired into the RAM itself. Once you have that RAM try to boot on auto, if cannot you might have to manually downtune the RAM timings to follow the slower stick settings. ic... i think for my case, even i dun turn on XMP, it will be limited to 2133MHz since it is the max that the mobo can support, so downclock i think it will not be a concern i guess. To know good or not have to see the CL timing, if CL36 its normal, below that is better than average. Under CL30 is consider low latency type which is quite pricey about same price as higher MHZ RAM. But for your case its academic as your system using DDR4. i checked chatGPT, it said the followings, considered good? Kingston FURY Beast DDR4-3200 typically has a CL16 timing (16-18-18). Kingston FURY Beast DDR4-3600 usually has a CL17 or CL18 timing (e.g., 18-22-22) |

QUOTE(babylon52281 @ Oct 15 2024, 09:15 AM) Good find there. This Crucial stick might actually be better for OP coz his current value ram is using Micron IC chips, so Crucial RAM might be more compatible than any random Kingston unit with random unknown chips. what platform is that? i can get from there actually. since it is rm40 only. i dare not to anyhow buy ram from anywhere... becos i kena cheated for counterfeit ram before, but likely i managed to return and get the full refund in the end... if shopee, i guess buying from those 'malls' will be safer? finally installed the extra 8gb ram to my old PC.. spent rm58 for this ram stick. i think it is a fair last amount of money to spend on this old rig to maximise its remaining lifespan.
now dual channel. Kingston 1 x 2133 Mhz value ram + 1 x 3200 Mhz fury beast ram = 2400 Mhz? after the extra 8gb ram, can feel that now everything is a bit more snappier... e.g. for web browsing using chome - not sure if it is due to the extra 8gb or the slightly faster overall ram speed, can feel that opening new tab of website in chrome is slighly more responsive... (probably becos chrome is known to be a big ram eater, not sure) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() This post has been edited by westlife: Oct 31 2024, 11:18 PM |

Given the price, it should be a better choice than the 12400F.https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1_6j...feUULTGxIjPEFpo Viewnet requires bundle with motherboard though. Besides, u have been recommending viewnet all the time which I noticed. Are they having the best price so far when comparing to the rest of stores?
