Thank you on your valuable insight, this makes perfect sense.  thumbup.gif
On the other hand I guess no point to wait for next gen LGA1851 since GPU and SSD hardly fully utilize the bandwidth gain from new socket?

Plus intel change socket every 3-ish gen and general use case probably gonna skip another gen of socket for the next upgrade (5years +/-)
*
As with all tech things, theres always something new coming next. LGA1851 CPU supposed to start debut at end 2024 but for your case, the nonK skus will only come out early of NEXT YEAR 2025, so if you need a computer now, just buy it and not too worried about whats coming.

If your not extreme gamer and more towards reliability for work purpose, I would suggest a slight change from Myway reco to replace the 14900K with its nonK version the standard 14900 with 253W TDP, and replace the AIO with a beefy dual tower cooler ie Noctua D15, Deepcool Assassin 3 / 4, Thermalright FC/FS140, Coolermaster MasterAir MA824 Stealth. No need worry on potential water leak shorting the PC or water pump failure.

Unless you have used AIO/WC setup and know to handle its quirks & weakness.

Hi all, looking to build a PC after CNY (live near idealtech) or maybe buy each components online during shopee/lazada discounts.
Never built a PC before, actually want to try it myself or let someone teach.

[Budget]
+- RM 8k

[Purpose]
Personal PC, mainly after work gaming, coding etc

[Hardwares that will be re-use]
Already have peripherals

[Monitor resolution]
1440p 165hz

[Games & softwares that use frequently]
Steam games, Dota, Cyberpunk etc, AAA titles

[Personal preferences]
Use intel processor (never used before AMD so not familiar)

[Location]
Cheras

I have shortlisted myself a build but not sure if these components fully work together (also scare if i missed something):

GPU - Gigabyte Aero RTX 4070 Super
RAM - Kingston Fury Renegade DDR5 6000mhz 16x2GB (32GB)
CPU - Intel i5 14400
Cooler - Deepcool AK620 Digital
SSD - Samsung 990 pro 1TB (not sure if need to buy the heatsink variant)
Motherboard - MSI MAG B760M Mortar Wifi II DDR5
Case - Corsair 4000D RGB Airflow (they should come with 3 rgb fans)
PSU - Corsair RM850x SHIFT

I placed these items in my lazada cart and its around 8.4k (before laz bonus), hoping during 2.2 could have nice deal, but kinda lazy on returns and warranty claims (if anything happens).

Side question:
1) Can i flash this B760 board bios without 12/13 gen processor? Only have the 14th gen processor which I'm gonna buy.
2) Do i need to buy GPU support bracket as well?
3) The build will probably only have 3 front fans (come with casing) and CPU cooler, is that enough?

Hm, does that mean I should buy asap or wait until peak season gone? Sorry I don't really pay attention to part fluctuations.

Ringgit went to shit. SSD and RAM prices going up.

Yeah, I would advise buying quickly. "Before CNY" also got some demand.

1) Buy it during 2.2 before CNY inflation (which will likely be permanent if not going higher)
2) Particularly buy SSD & RAM now during sales as prices are going up & up
3) Your build is not bad for the price, maybe can topup to 14500 since some say the price diff with 14400 is not much
4) To know whether the mobo they selling is support 14th gen out of the box I suggest drop a question to a few sellers and see what they say. Make your choice with those that say yes. Do it early before you buying like now.
5) Since your getting a triple fan GPU I reco get a GPU support. Its so cheap no need to think leh (https://www.lazada.com.my/products/vktech-graphics-card-gpu-holder-support-adjustable-telescopic-rotary-screw-aluminum-i3226598663.html)
6) Since you agak know what you want, and staying near Idealtech why not give them a visit/call and see what they can offer you. The hassle of someone assembling for you, testing burn in, and full liability if screw up anything during installation can meant RM 200-300 worth of peace of mind from worrying that you forego if DIY.
7) Or else sifu Myway is also Klang Valley based so he could build it for you too rclxms.gif

Same here too, for 1st time builders it is a terrifying thing as it could meant screwing up costly hardware.

Maybe sifu Myway can do a 1to1 session and build your system together with you giving guidance along the way?

What say you Myway? Haha tongue.gif
