what laptop is that? the ram looks like a a standard oem issue. nothing wrong is just that, ideally you will want a matching stick of ram to work in dual channel mode.
alternatively, buy 2x8GB kingston fury impact 3200 ddr4 to replace the ram. it'll work on both intel & amd.

QUOTE(AthrunIJ @ Dec 18 2023, 12:59 PM)
Get a standard kingston ram 2x Ddr4 ram kit. Did it with ma lappy. Can see some fps gain. Not much but smoother.

The single stick ram can be sold as 2nd hand or keep it as spare.

i have bought a transcend ram 16gb/nb3200 ddr4. is it compatible with the current one im using?

stock 8GB, new is 16GB can work in dual channel?

Should be OK. But might have some instability since different manufacturer.

But if already using and so far so good then OK.

is this ram good? im going to buy another one any recommedation?

For lappie its okay. Just get another exact one and you can get dual channel memory
https://www.lazada.com.my/products/sk-hynix....72fb6IOJ6IOJTQ

It will prolly help a bit on average FPS but check out the 1% & 0.1% lows, higher means ur games will be smoother.

any preference like need aquarium style?? 8.5k with monitor??

Aesthetics or style is not required. As long as:
- adhere to budget
- good performance
- easy to maintain (open up to clean up dust or refill paste), cable management

These days a starting budget is about Rm 2-2.5k. But the danger in sticking to such low budget ur have a higher risk of picking bad parts like the Giga PSU I pointed out above. So rather than focus on budget, take ur time to find out what hardware is actually needed for ur use case.

You can start ur journey by referencing some PC reco sites like https://www.cgdirector.com/best-computer-for-graphic-design/

Bear in mind that certain components are no longer as current but the logic behind its selection can guide you to making a similar current gen choice (ie if it was 12900K an equivalent is 14700K/14900K). Also while a lot of it is high end, I advice see the logic of their choice (if its a 3090 then why, because of Nvidia better driver support for work apps. Then going for cheaper 3060 12GB is also fine, you see).

FYI if budget is a priority, a comfortable workable one is about RM 5000 where you most likely wont end up with any bad parts if you chose wisely. Good luck!

On the other hand, if you can stretch your budget to 2.5K, a M2 Mac Mini may not be that bad of a deal icon_idea.gif
Note that the creative ecosystem of MacOS is going to be substantially better than Windows, and Macs are much more than their sum of its parts hardware wise icon_idea.gif

Whats ur budget anyways? Its good idea to plan early and have an idea what you can get today then tweak around it when comes time to buy

AMD Ryzen 5600X
GIGABYTE B550m (change to MSI / Asrock B550M. Avoid Giga backdoor bios. Oso that VRM is pisspoor for OCing)
SAPPHIRE NITRO RX 6700XT (might be phased out soon so plan for alternative)
32GB RAM Corsair Vengence 16x2 3200MHZ (buy today if possible as RAM prices will go up next year)
1 TB SSD (KC3000, Adata S70/ Legend 960, any with DRAM will do fine)
Cooler? AMD stock cooler is okay but if got extra budget then ID SE224XT, Jonsbo CR1400 (but if OCing then PA120/SE)
PSU? 1st player steampunk 850 gold RM399 (if going basic then MSI MAG A650BN for about RM250)
*
Around 5k to 6k if I can help it. I'll mostly use this for CS2 and some data computation work so I'm trying not to blow my budget on this PC.

Thanks for the recommendations.

From what I read, Colorful is a China brand but seems to work okay compared to other brands. How is the heat/temps like and the warranty process like for Malaysia? Reddit seems to say the warranty process is quite confusing/vague but those are for Western markets.

Also quite different price points for the monitors, is it because the MSI one has quantum dot?

May I know if the SUPER variant significantly better in terms of price to performance? Or just applies to 4070?

Sorry, can't speculate rumors.

It's possible they sell at same price or less.

AMD shifted focus to AI accelerators, so there is no competition for NVIDIA. Super would probably be either slip in to fill in the price gap or replaces the existing product at the same price with slightly better performance.

Yo whats up with the Ultra Ex120 lately? No more PA/PS 120/SE stocks?

Such an old cooler (it has support for LGA775 LOL!) and doesnt seem on the website it supports LGA1700 but pricing still topkek better go for more modern SE225XT or SE226XT with better thermal headroom.

Colorful is the better brands coming out from China with some longterm presence in Europe. They are also OEM to some of the better well known brands from Taiwan/USA. Their standard lineup is very good for the money whilst their igame & Vulcan lineup is comparable to Asus TUF & ROG level of insanely specced.

Another is prolly Galax, as their stuff are often used in WR OCing.

Manli is another lesser known but decent OEM brand in China. But lately their stuff seem to have dried up in market.
