Think of other ways, my friend told me it's hard to completely stop. So he started vaping, at first it was high in nicotine then slowly decreasing. Now he's more or less not interested in neither smoking or vaping

I don't believe in the method of slowly decreasing the number of cigarettes you smoke a day. In fact I think that's the worst way to quit smoking. I tried that method 4 separate occasions that ended up in total failure. Vaping, from what I've seen my friends are doing, well they're back to cigarettes now ever since the fad of vaping has died down. Much like weightloss, if you don't change your lifestyle, any weight you lost with any restrictive diet will come back very quickly. If you don't change your lifestyle and your attitude towards cigarettes, nothing will change regardless if you cut down to 1 a day or 1 a week, it makes no difference.

Quitting is seriously not difficult at all. It was difficult the first 4 times I tried it because I've always been told it's difficult. It's difficult because everybody else in my life thought it was difficult, so I thought it was difficult as well. Once you put that in your head, oh gosh, no, I'm gonna reduce now, I'm gonna be miserable, I hate not smoking, bla3, it becomes really really difficult.

Previously I smoked 1 pack a day, sometimes 2 if I'm depressed or stressed, for 7 long years. I was basically a hardcore smoker and truth be told, the day I quit smoking was the most liberating day of my life. I have successfully quit smoking for 2 years now, basically cold turkey. What I did was, I listened to Allen Carr's Easyway to Stop Smoking on an audiobook onn Youtube. The video has been taken down now apparently but I'm sure you could torrent it if you want. There's an app for it as well if you use Android, you can check it out here. This, my friend, is the best solution to smoking in my opinion, period. Pay if you have to in order to read the book, listen to the audiobook, watch the videos, attend the seminar or whatever. It will be way more worth it than the RM17 cigarettes that you consume daily or weekly.

Owh ya, to answer your question. No, that will not do you any good. Just "playing the smoke in the mouth" is like putting your dick at the entrance of the pussy and saying, just the tip please. You are setting yourself up for failure if you do that.

Based on my experience, go cold turkey and replace that smoking habit with something else. Something healthy.... it can be Vaping or reducing cigarette intake will not help.

Its all in the mind...

As said by a fellow forum member above, just quit cold turkey as allowing yourself to smoke even a puff will make you question your resolve.

You need to distract yourself from cigarettes by chewing on something else. Chewing gum, preserved fruits or concentrated lemon juice in small travel pouches, etc. Nicotine gum is an option but some people get addicted to nicotine, the same additive found in smoking/vaping.

2 methods.........
1. stop immediately
2. stop gradually

either way, not easy.

will be easier if there is someone out there that you trust and can be around you most of the time for a certain period of time while you are quiting. will still be a real test of determination and relationship.

there is a quit smoking clinic at PJ, they use laser acupuncture to help people quit smoking. can give it a try, i heard it's very effective, and less effort than quit cold turkey, at least no need suffer from the addiction. google it, imagine laserworks malaysia.

Good luck in your progress, OT!! My friend used snacking on preserved fruits/candy to reduce the habit of picking up a cigarette when he gets stressed. It did work and after a few weeks, he suddenly realised the need for a cigarette disappeared. He did go back to smoking along the way but it was for short periods and during high stress moments at work. But he'd just switch to snacking again and now completely stopped. smile.gif

(Btw the snacking was on small tidbits like preserved fruits and candy only so his body maintained fit) wink.gif

three methods from me(others can try)..

1. stop thinking
2. if still thinking, then think the first one...
3. if still fail, start smoke again and think the first one..

1 day, your mind would be strong,
and feels nothing happen if see-ing your friends smoking ~

Just don't have any false expectations.
Smokers who have smoked for a while, who quit, will tell you. The urge will never go away, the fight to resist smoking will stay your whole life.

+1 This

Allen Carr has helped me too. I was sceptical at first because IT IS A BOOK. But i've never regretted picking up that book
