Yes I agree he's a decent player, but it's all he is. Case in point, where do u see him playing in our current team? Another question, where do u see his best position as? Right winger? Central mid? I think he's clueless about it too. I dont remember him string few good performances together, let alone games where he announce his arrival as the next big thing.

He might be younger than Cout, but dont forget that Cout was an integral part of our last title push under BR. Same cant be said of Ox.

I think Ox is said to versatile, to be able to play in any of the "3" in 4-2-3-1, or even the more offensive of the "2", is because he has not really done well in any of them. One game he does well, the next he plays ok, the other he does an Ozil - the dark side one. At 23, soon to be 24, age is on his side, but he has been on the scene for like 6/7 years. I think he is Walcott 2.0 rather than Bale 2.0.

Even at 20M, we could get 2 players of similar stature from the rest of the continent, for our much needed depth no less. The coming window is crucial for the club, especially if we get into UCL. Sustain our "success" in PL, make a run to the last 8 of UCL, repeat, then we can rightly call ourselves a big club again. I will be so pissed if we start with signing the Ox.

The thing that really pissed me off is I'm not sure if this is Klopp's direction or it's a policy from the club within. Klopp didn't sign any Brits in the first season but now we are like being linked to every single Brit player on sight.

That's why I think it's unfortunate that we really might have to let him go instead of Lovren this summer. They are both at a similar level but there is way more interest in Sakho. And although some people think Sakho is good enough to dislodge Lovren in our first 11, there's no denying that Van Dijk is better maybe even ahead of Matip. So it doesn't sound like a bad deal to me, except we will have to beat City and Chelsea to him which will be difficult.
Sakho's touted price is 30m. Sounds fair to me. Van Dijk is regarded as one of PL's best defenders and being linked with Chelsea, City and Madrid. Of course his value is gonna skyrocket. 50m for a top defender is the going price these days. 50m got City John Stones so 50m for Van Dijk isn't unreasonable.

Yet he goes invisible in many other games, especially away games. We might have overpaid for him, but I accept that is the going rate these days for players of his level which is why Van Dijk will be well worth the 50M whoever ends up paying it.

Not that I'm complaining, but I don't think he is someone I want leading our midfield week in week out if we have any aspirations beyond just challenging for top 4. He is average, maybe slightly above average, a nice squad player. Just looking at how well Piotr Zielinski is doing at Napoli this season, I'm bumped we missed out on such a good young player who was sold for much less than what we paid for Wijnaldum.
