Only works if aotg build Chromecasting into their apk, I dunno if they did...if this is what you're asking...

QUOTE(BOTAK_WAI @ Apr 28 2017, 07:51 PM)
no, i didn't bought any because i don't need and i am not scalper either.

i gave the opportunity to those new to android tv box.

you can't buy a truck load for mispricing stuff because they won't honour it. but different story if you just order 1pcs so the chance to fulfill the order is higher.

Sometimes got cancel also...depends how bad they got hit overall...

what's your specdevice ram & flash result?
[attachmentid=8776110]

ram, flash capacity the issue, if specdevice reading correct. kodi lag load in 1.1gb org.xbmc.kodi data

ya, bought rm135 there, general china made tv box
*
Well...the OS takes around 3GB already so how can 0.5GB of actual ROM be correct?

Perhaps the way they partition it is causing a lot of these app to under report. Even if you open it and check the RAM & ROM there's no telling if those are not fake...

Have you tried filling it up? You bought 2/16 and suspect it's a 1/8...have you tried contacting the seller? They may have shipped you a wrong one.

AFAIK, 1/8, 2/16, 3/32 is around RM 130, 170, 230...so did you mistakenly got the 1/8 box?

Maybe they listed it wrongly as 2/16, when you paid as 1/8, they sent you that 1/8 box instead. If so, you can still demand for the 2/16.

Been awhile.  smile.gif

I remember the first time I'm fully drawn into this Android TV Box scene was last year - Aug 28 2016 to be exact. Clicky.

Since then I've settled for Beelink GT1, that have serve me well. I'm thinking of giving this box to my girl and get a new set of box for myself preferably an upgrade on what I already have.

Being a cheapskate (as I'm sure you guys already figure it out), the budget remains the same as last year; RM300-RM400 max. I'm setting my eyes upon this 2 option :

A) Alfawise H96 Pro+ - $67.99
B) Beelink GT1 Ultimate - $76.99
So, that's the only difference I can think of.

Accidentally found this Alfawise box while watching Redskull review on youtube saying he preferred Alfawise H96 Pro+ compared to Beelink GT1 Ultimate.

My questions :
Is anyone in here have any experiences regarding both of these box / or either one to shed some light which one is better?
Also I've read somewhere that Alfawise is actually a Beelink product, is that true?
Is Alfawise have the same dark video issue?
Is paying $9 more justify getting the DDR4 if the dark issue still persist on the Beelink product?

My need still the same as last year - Clicky.
Thanks!
*
The Ultimate isn't any much better than the std GT1...and the DDR4 isn't any faster.

The Ultimate is only better in 7.1 pass through via HDMI...if you don't need 7.1, I'd get the H96 Pro+.

hi, i just received my box. i check with the 'verify root' from playstore and my box is not rooted. then i downloaded astro on the go, but it said astro on the go doesnt work on jailbroken device?? anyone know how to fix this?

You can try fake your box to be like a phone, perhaps that may work, but you need root. We got no idea how astro validates...

QUOTE(voncrane @ May 2 2017, 11:54 PM)
Same on the Minix Neo U1.. Gotten from the Playstore... Not all channels work.. Personally, I don't care cuz the stock STB is one source-switch away.
Yup.. now is definitely not the time to be buying a cheap generic box running "Android 7". I'd settle for a superb Lollipop ROM any day.

IMO, benchmark scores are like pissing contests. They are nice to have but don't tell the whole story. A well baked firmware on decent hardware tells a much better story in real world applications..
*
Well...people like their box to play everything even though they don't use everything laugh.gif

Depends on personal priority what benchmark and metrics are important lor... Antutu and the likes do give some ideas how well the firmware is optimized for those respective matrics. For videos and audios playback obviously need other tests...

Today I learned...

S912 dark screen/video is a color space/8 bit panel issue.

If you have a 4K TV and 10bit panel...you will not see this problem...

I understand Minix has it fixed for next U9-H firmware update.

Tried to hold (Power + Menu) and then switch on the device, but it doesn't go to Android System Recovery sad.gif
Your help would be very much appreciated.

Why do you want to wipe/reset?

The reset switch may or may not be available...unless you folks know for sure...

If no reset switch in the AV hole or anywhere else... you could try the USB method if it's running Amlogic SoC but you'll need a special cable... or you could try shorting some legs on the emmc chip...

Khalid21 have written something on USB in his Bee-link thread. You can Google these methods...

Try to root the box using some old Android root exploit for Android 4.0, then install root app to reboot recovery.

I think his problem can't even boot the box

Start of my rolling review...

Vensmile U1, S905, 2/32GB, Remix OS over Android 5.1

Paid US $50...on sale as low as $40, normal $70. After it shipped, Gearbest dropped price to $40...really pissed off...

Netflix, Amazon Video, Astro Go, IFlix, HyppTV Everywhere, Kodi, etc... all working.

Power up auto boots in about 30 seconds to last use environment, either desktop or TV BOX mode.

UI is smooth & snappy. Desktop or TV BOX selection using remote only... you dead if lost the remote.

Remote is small shiny plastic...why can't they make it matte? button click stupidly loud...

In desktop mode, need double mouse click to launch. Right mouse button launch "save or share" option, not back. Single click in TV mode

Both Modes have auto hide top navigation bar, bottom Status bar can select show or auto hide option.

Running apps show up in Status bar just like pc.

No Root... if required needs serial cable hardware hack.

Has notification panel like Windows 10. No screen overlay allowed... all info / notification mostly goes to this panel... So some apps don't behave as expected.

No 3rd party launcher... not allowed.

No auto start... not allowed... so no auto run Wukong, Teamviewer, etc...needs manual start & keep it running. If exit, box will close & clear memory.

Box goes to sleep if no activity for some time... can't set.

Wifi good... as good as my Q16 with external antenna at 20 feet + 1 wall. 5GHz & Gigabit Lan not tested.

On off switch is proximity based...glow blue circle when on... nothing when off & hard to find...

IR sensor at this switch too pointing up...really stupid IMHO for my use... not sensitive, can't bounce it off the wall...must point to it...

Picture and sound qualities too early to tell...

...to be continued

So far happy with this

I like to try stuff tongue.gif

Actually it's quite an awesome box for casual users... I'll wrap it up in a few weeks time and make some recommendations.

PS... Check out Phoenix OS... will see when/how well this gets ported to Android box...

To be honest, $50 was to prove a hunch, and I was correct...so happy thumbup.gif also I like to try stuff...

And for some folks... Astro Go alone is worth a kidney... hahaha...

...Vensmile U1...

Picture quality I guess is about average... same as all cheap boxes... my Himedia Q16 is obviously better

Some PQ issues that's only evident with calibration charts/videos...not obvious during normal use...Minor overscan by 1 or 2 pixels on right & bottom edges...and some some minor banding...

Picture is marginally softer / less apparent sharpness / less pop compared with Q16...but gamma is slightly better.

Vensmile doesn't have any PQ adjustment, unlike for Himedia so can't further fine tune. So for the best PQ box, I'd still go with Q10 pro or Q5 pro.
