Officially, it's the Logitech C922 Pro Stream.. Unofficially, I did read awhile back that the cheaper models are compatible too.. Firmware dependent. Purchase at your own risk. smile.gif

hi, i just received my box. i check with the 'verify root' from playstore and my box is not rooted. then i downloaded astro on the go, but it said astro on the go doesnt work on jailbroken device?? anyone know how to fix this?

It's "Astro Go" now. Same ol, same ol... With that app, it either works on your device or it doesn't ... Ain't nothing you can do except wait and hope they push an update later that allows it to work on your device.

Same on the Minix Neo U1.. Gotten from the Playstore... Not all channels work.. Personally, I don't care cuz the stock STB is one source-switch away.

Yup.. now is definitely not the time to be buying a cheap generic box running "Android 7". I'd settle for a superb Lollipop ROM any day.

IMO, benchmark scores are like pissing contests. They are nice to have but don't tell the whole story. A well baked firmware on decent hardware tells a much better story in real world applications..

Never tried that, u mean power button on the box or IR remote?
It's an old box running Android 4.0 (QNET HD)
Googled and couldn't find any info about this box  bangwall.gif
*
The power button (if any) on the box itself, not the remote.... disconnect from power, press and hold down the power on button and connect the power back.. Naturally, the box is connected to a TV the whole time.

Hi Guys,

I'm planning to get Mi Box and i'm kinda new to this box tv thingy. After doing some research in Lazada, i would like you guys opinion on this 2

1. http://www.lazada.com.my/global-versionxia...pP&ff=1&rb=6335

2. http://www.lazada.com.my/new-arrivals-xiao...mL&ff=1&rb=6335.

May i know if this 2 box is the same thing? which should i get?

Thanks in advance.
*
Both appear to be the same device... Question you have to answer is:
Option 1.. About RM55 more + faster delivery time with 6 months official warranty from Xiaomi Malaysia and unsure if Global device or not...OR
Option 2.. Cheaper + longer delivery time with no warranty and confirmed Global ROM.
To answer which you should get, Option 1..

I propose Option 3: Run from the MiBox... devil.gif

So what would u suggest on option 3? as frm wht i read, mi box has better stability at good price.

Global version is better... Why option 1 is cuz the 6 months warranty by Xiaomi Malaysia (and not the seller) hints that it's a global version... Plus, you'd get it faster.. Ask around, I prefer to buy local.. biggrin.gif

There we go with the "better stability at a "good" price... Our needs and budget are different.. The MiBox will not satisfy my requirements.. I mean, for one, it doesn't even have an Ethernet connection port doh.gif .. I use the Minix Neo U1 by the way..

Yep.. Those dongle thingys work.. I.e the ones that ship with remotes/airmouses/controllers... Though, to free up a USB port, if the device has the option of directly pairing with your device via it's in-built Bluetooth, try that first.

Thank you for suggestion. Raspberry pi easy to use? I will skip htpc because I prefer a simple OS. Choose and play. At the end maybe I have to choose android. The only negative experience from android is it tend to become slower in future because of update apps.
*
I'm assuming here.. Based off your questions, you aren't the tech-tinkering kind.. So skip the RPIs too.. Prefer simple OS... Choose and play, but not android/htpc.. Get a Roku then and live with its limitations.
As for the "negative experience".. That's completely false.. You buy a shitty device, you get shitty performance. You handle a good device shitty, you also end up with a shitty device. I own and use on a daily basis the following Android devices: Google Nexus 10 (5 year old device), Samsung Galaxy Note 3 (4 year old device) and the Minix Neo U1 ( under 2 years old), Samsung Galaxy Note 2 (another 5 year old device)... None of these devices have slowed down whatsoever. In fact, they've gotten faster, what with better firmware for their respective hardware.. The "slowing" down of the Android OS is when the user directly or indirectly fills it with crap and refuses or doesn't know how to spring clean occasionally.. That can happen on any OS. There are devices (some recently released) running Android OS and from day one are plagued with (IMO, unlivable) issues, those are the devices you need to steer clear of.

Don't get me wrong, even Android TV OS has its limitations. However, in the hands of the right user and right hardware and software (these typically cost more than average), the Android OS running on a flagship device is rock solid and outputs greater media playing performance, than even most gaming-grade PCs out there. nod.gif

QUOTE(AVFAN @ May 15 2017, 09:55 AM)
ya, this can vary from user to user.

the trouble is many new users do not know if they REALLY want this and that or not?! biggrin.gif

it is compounded by a previous experience with another kind of box/player if any.

several times, i have read the user said the picture quality of the new box is not as good as his 7 year old ac ryan or wdlive for playback.

if one has not used acryan or wdlive, one cannot compare, will not know.
someone like me who has used acryan and insist on hd audio playback will never buy a cheap box.

whereas someone who has never used any box, has a small tv and do not need good audio should be happy enough with most boxes.

but spending a bit more can provide the assurance that it will serve current and future (3 years) needs well.

so, the onus is on the buyer to read, ask questions and run with it! tongue.gif

QUOTE(dwRK @ May 15 2017, 06:26 PM)
update on my Vensmile U1...

Found a silly AC3 bug I think. Aida64 reported available AC3 codec, but no sound when using native player, MX player, VLC, etc. Even when using AC3 Player also no sound. Antutu video tester says OK but that is a wrong result. Only Kodi played with sound. Install custom codec for MX player, now only Kodi & MX plays my files properly. Very strange.

I previously reported some PQ banding...apparently that's an issue only when using browser for lcd calibration. No banding observed with video playback and UI operation.

Gotten used to the UI, really like the status bar & multitasking. Only pet peeve is only one master volume for all sound (media, notification, mouse click)

So far still happy with the box.
*
On the AC3 issue, Reads like it's resorted to software decoding vs hardware decoding.. Kodi & MX Player are good with that... Kodi, once installed, comes "pre-packed".. MX Player, in an effort to remain lean, requires the additional codec to be installed (when required as in your case).. A master volume for everything wouldn't bother me though as mine's set to high and all volume control is done via the HT/TV's remote. The Vensmile U1 would probably far better if it gets the Remix OS 3.0 update.. Hopefully that happens.. Else, you happy.. No biggie.. smile.gif

[CODE]

Thank you. Yes for me the native player is more stable. I have himedia q5 and use their basic app to play my file. Sometimes it gave me an error it stop working. User interface with air mouse also not my thingy. I don't whether it was my bad luck with android box. My android cant activate WiFi, forced to swith back old play store app. If I upgrade to New, the play store stop working and it will effect other apps too especially YouTube.

Now the box felt more slower. I don't think it because I not clean the unnecessary file because I did not download and install much..I also still using my phone jelly bean android without any problem. Im assuming now the android box that I use have a bad firmware.

From you all experience, which brand of box have a good support from developer and stable firmware?
*
Yes.. Sounds like the firmware is going haywire.. Try a factory reset first and confirm that you have the latest available firmware for it.. If you haven't done so already.. As for which brands have better support.. Go back to page one and read a bit.. Especially post #3.. However, must read the entire page to understand..

TLDR: Minix, Nvidia, HiMedia, MiBox, Wetek, Beelink, etc.

please help

Disclaimer: I'm not entirely familiar with the Roku system. But I reckon it should have some type of "app store"? Allowing you to search for and install the Hulu app, if it isn't pre-installed in the first place.. Which I also think it is..

For the LG smart TV and DNS.. You should check the TV's network settings for the option to set the DNS it should use in commucating. Setting it to that of USA (and if working..aka, not blocked by Hulu), should allow you to not only download the Hulu app onto the TV itself, but to also access USA content and watch without the need of an external device... Works on my Samsung TV... Same concept applies to Netflix.

I installed Kodi 17 but it can't play any 5.1 sound 🤔

My box seems to hang a few times just going thru the menus. Had to on/off. And also gives an error that reads "unfortunately play store had to close" or something liddat
*
Yeah, as suggested by dwRK.. The mobile version of the YouTube app does require a mouse to simulate the touching of the screen. There's however, a more TV Box friendly YouTube app (please Google). I can't recall the exact version.. But it's either the one made for the Android TV OS or its based off it. With this version, you can navigate the menus and videos using the d-pad of your remote.

hi guys,

i'm deciding between 2 boxes, Alfawise H96Pro+ or the MeCool M8S Pro.

both having S912, and 3gb RAM.
H96Pro+ has 16gb more ROM than M8S.
performance area rather similar.

any advice? which manufacturer is better? how about firmware update releases?
well review from FreakTab users does say H96Pro+ running quite hot, until many decided to mod the casing with fans and vents to allow more air flow.
not many reviews on the M8S though.

GT1 Ulti was one of the choices until i saw the benchmark scores as well as A1 SD test scores. the other 2 boxes perform much better than it. does Beelink offer frequent updates?

i do prefer bigger ROM but if it comes with problems, then...nahhhh
*
Hi, IMO.. I'd pick the Alfawise H96Pro+.. Use it for a bit and if the heat worries you, get a cheap laptop cooler to help.

Sharing my experience.
DO NOT buy AC RYAN product. I used to own a PlayOn 3 Mini. It seems to be a nice product to me when I bought it. Solid casing/hardware, nice and not too laggy GUI for network browsing (not for internet), playing most files until...

I upgraded my firmware and it can't be booted anymore.

1. Firmware download from original website
2. Once firmware upgraded, it cannot be booted
3. Explain via email to support (support crap, reply after few days) and they explain hardware failure without hesitation
4. Asked me to send back the unit to them, support only in Singapore (Of cos i need to pay for the fix)

How can they assure it's hardware failure without seeing it?
Their support simply doesn't care?

Lesson learn. Just to share so that one can consider twice before buying
P.S. - Search the location of the company and ask any Spore friend, what's that place like
