I don't believe it is due specifically by spigen case bro. Perhaps the spider web design speed the chipping process. Anyway, quite disappointed with apple QC

I've used 3 iPhone 7 plus matte black, all use Spigen Liquid Armor, none got chipping issue. I think it's Apple QC's problem.

Ur chipping issue is it something like got small spot (different tone of black) on your phone but can't wipe it off?

Because the Spigen case not only give spide web, it also deoxded and also freaking easier turn yellowish.
I throw all when I notice people mentioned it might the possible make the color peeling off.

Me, my sister and some my friends all using Black iPhone 7 or 7 Plus, all didn't use Spigen case and all no chipping issue.

I think not all type but probably only those soft rubber one. Anyway since see so many mentioned, throwing it better than using it.

So many brand do similar type of what Spigen do but none give spider web after use. I got more than 20 cases and only Spigen show sipder web after few hours use. Yup only few hours will give you those spider web in phone.

Yup, the chipping issue I experienced was still in its early stage where no silver metal is seen. However when view under certain light condition, u can see the difference in the intensity of black colour. It's like there's a spot where at first you may thought it is dirt or grease but it just won't go away even after thorough cleaning.

So you don't think the spigen case is the cause?

Not really bro becuz I noticed the chipping after cleaning it from another transparent case. I believe it might be caused by the heat generated and apple QC.

I rmb reading somewhere that those who do not use case actually don't experience the chipping issue, but just some scratch.

I'm seeing it on my wife's matte black and she's not using a Spigen, she's using a Thule case. Definitely nothing to do with the casing in my opinion.

Yup, October 2016 batch.

In this case I am lucky I already selling off earlier batch, my current is later bought. My sister & my friends bought even late than me.

Anyway I still reject Spigen case because it give stupid spider web.

When not using, it immediate deoxded for nearly all type, soft rubber or transparent. The hard transparent is the only don't deoxded.

For soft rubber transparent case, it very fast deoxded and yellowish.

Only Spigen do this. Cheap RM 10 transparent case also won't doing this!

I bought my phone on first week of Jan 2017. Checked my phone and found that it was made on last week of Dec 2016. Is my phone considered the early batch ?


Yes I have to admit the case did leave the stupid spider web mark at the back of the phone definitely a design flaw in my opinion. However I really like the protection the case give. Any better alternative to suggest me?? This spigen case did protect my phone once from a drop of 1.5 meter.

I think you can try below for great protection case.

ElementCase - This case is very tough and really kind of famous now, but a bit pricey.


Ringke - Onyx series is solid and nice. My favor protection case.


Nilkin - Defender series also nice and tough.


UAG - This brand is my previous favorite brand but since they do combo for iPhone 7/Plus and 6s/Plus, I didn't fancy it anymore because it got extra headset hole when use for iPhone 7/Plus.

i believe so. it was reported around feb. so anything before that should be considered the early batch. not sure what apple has done after the complaints.

Yeah, had the same experience of the Spigen transparent case yellowing for my previously owned Note 5 as well. Since then I've stayed away from most transparent cases.

Spigen not only yellowish but smudge everywhere.

Actually others brand / unknown brand transparent case still not bad. Seldom have such issue.

But transparent case need to wiping, so I still much prefer none transparent case.
