QUOTE(puchongite @ Feb 14 2017, 01:59 PM) Try to search on RHB Gold and General Fund. I believe it is one of the best. Top performer, last month 20% gain, one year 88% gain. LOL. Thanks! Would this kind of fund any better than if I invest purely in gold account such as from PB, CIMB, Maybank, etc....

QUOTE(Ramjade @ Feb 14 2017, 02:33 PM) RHB Gold and General Fund, Precious Metal Securities If want to buy gold better to get from UOB as they have the smallest spread. Banks spread is too large. Best is buy gold fund as one only need to pay 2% SC. Thanks. Do you invest in this fund? Wondering they invest into where?

Well, just a dumb question:
Will the NAV of a fund be affected by the sales/buys of so many investors? Like stock...
Lately saw you guys are discussing on wholesale buy. Will that affect small player like me?

QUOTE(Avangelice @ Feb 28 2017, 02:17 PM) if all of us combined our monies and purchase a fund, it won't move the NAV that much. maybe 0.001% movement? so no it won't. I see...so got effect la.... *Btw, how to do multiple quote?

QUOTE(Avangelice @ Feb 28 2017, 02:36 PM) same as injecting money into your portfolio la bro of course it affects the NAV but it's very slight as you are just a fish in a vast ocean. as for multi quote just go to Ramjade post tap on the quote button then go do my post tap on the quote button and go to bottom and add reply Thanks!

Hi Sifus,
I still don't understand:
Let's say I invested RM1000 in a fund and now I have a 6% return. So to 'earn' that return I have to sell some of the units right?
That means my unit has now decreased (assuming no top up). So what will happen next month? With lesser units in hand, will I still see profits? Or what should I do?

QUOTE(vincabby @ Mar 9 2017, 02:06 PM) u bought at a lower price, you sell, you have lesser units. when it goes up, your profit from the remaining units in it will of course be lesser than compared to if you did not touch it at all. you will then live in either of this two universes. 1. sold. "why i sell?? should keep so i get more profit!" 2. didn't sell " lucky i didn't sell. now i see more profit. up up up!" of course, if after selling, it goes down, then you know the drill. make your own scenarios wat it's like. Ok thanks. QUOTE(puchongite @ Mar 9 2017, 02:32 PM) The profit you refer to is it the profit as it appears on FSM website ? After you sell some units, your % profit on FSM website will increase. Yes exactly. Oh, really? Can please further explain?

QUOTE(Avangelice @ May 18 2017, 01:49 PM) please be advised that the recommended fund list was created before Affin Hwang Select Bond Fund was incepted into the system which was just recently (October 2016) previously it was not open to us fsm customers. I supposed it will be listed as recommended fund soon based on its performance?

Dear Sifus,
I wonder how long will you all keep these funds in hand? After retired? 70 years old? 80?
These funds only look good on paper until we really sell it one day....
Please advise.

QUOTE(MUM @ Jun 20 2017, 02:36 PM) i think it depends on whether you need to use / dig into the invested money to fund your retirement expenses. it depends on whether you need to touch the invested money to fund your retuirement expenses you need to use yearly "profit" from the funds to fund your yearly retirement expenses you need to use yearly "profit" + reduce the size value of your funds to fund your yearly retirement expenses you want to left the money or any money for your dependents... thus one need to know how much is enough to sustain your retirement expenses..... These funds only look good on paper until we really sell it one day....this is true.... Looks like UT serves best during emergency and for retirement purposes from the many replies here. Maybe I should have the same thinking instead of using the money during my 'youthful' years! Thanks for all the comments.
