Thank you. Many LIKES to your sharing too. After a year and a half I did find that I need not look check my portfolio too much or chase after news that much in order to maintain my investment. It's great having a diversified portfolio and good FM to manage your investment for you. You can sleep much better at night.  icon_idea.gif

I actually wanted to recommend FSM to my friends and family but it's tough if they are not proactive enough to even learn how to create their our portfolio. I did mentioned FSM to them but seeing their reaction and the attitude of wanting to be spoon fed. I gave up. I am not keen to recommend any portfolio to anyone because that is really not appropriate as we do not know what kind of risk the other party could or would be willing to shoulder. Say is one thing, but doing is another. If my recommended portfolio kaput then so will be our friendship. sweat.gif  Sighh... Hence I have to stomach the frustrations knowing they are getting peanuts for their UT investments via agents and insurance company investment skims.

exactly. remember when I said trump wouldn't win? and didn't do jack shit before the election results came out? oh yeah one mistake. so now I won't buy into any stocks or funds in plans she wins
*
I am hoping she wins. Push down some expensive s-reits so I can enter.

She still have chance after so many terrorist attack on France. I am guessing people prefer to see what they want to see. Stability. Like clinton. Everyone saw her winning. Then trump came out of no where.

Hi all, I'm newbie here, currently looking into recommended portfolios.

I noticed all recommended portfolios, aggressive to conservative, islamic or non islamic, there are no Balance or Money Market funds featured in any of the portfolios.

Why is that? Are they no good?

I'm asking because I was looking at RHB Smart Balanced Fund, seems good to me.
*
Balance got. Rhb asian income. MMF what's there to put. Only one there is RHB money market fund.

Avoid all rhb smart series.

quarterly ma... no meh?
*
Yes they charge you every quarter according to the value. Eg you put RM1k, but it increase to RM1.1k in the 2nd month eventhough you didn't add extra, your platform fee increases also. You get charge 0.05% RM1k in the 1st month. Then get charged 0.05% RM1.1k for 2nd month. I didn't know that. I thought we will kena the charge for original amount.

erm.. i think not so dramatic

more realistic increase in bond fund value is more around 2% for example. That would make 1k become RM1020 on 2nd month and RM1040.4 on 3rd month

at 0.05% that is only 0.5 + 0.51 + 0.52 = 1.52 only

correct me if i am wrong.
*
Well I kena. That's how I know. sad.gif cry.gif Was shocking.gif shakehead.gif But luckily only RM5.xx But still sad.gif cry.gif

The sample u use is kindda hyperbole. 1k to 1.1k denote a 10% profit in 3 month.

In any case, even if its 10% increment a month that would meant only 0.50 + 0.55 + 0.60 = RM1.65
*
That was just an eg. Maybe I need to write EG big big.

The US stocks will run upwards some more. Asia will follow. That's what the US market wanted. But don't know what will happen to RM sad.gif

There are views that the US small cap will benefit more. Most of us are invested in tech or big caps ....RHB GS US equity anyone has it ?
*
Eh wait. Not sure if there will be selldown of asia stocks some more or not. Because now US companies are deemed "more profitable"
Tax cut will cause US market to rally. Big or small caps.

Simple. Lousy fund manager. That's why. dry.gif
The nearest I can think of is most reits are having XD date. When XD come, price of the reits will drop. But the weird thing is Manulife is not dropping confused.gif

what happened to Selina?
do you mean the fund's performance in terms of ROI or volatility?
do you mean this few months the fund performance is not good?

if you look at the at both Am and Manu in historically perspective.....
Am is about 2% lesser than Manu in annualised returns.....which means 2 % less yearly...
but Am has 15% less volatility % than Manu.....

what happened to Selina?
to me...nothing......she is just as per normal.....ROI & Volatility % are constantly less than Manu.

what happened to Selina?
what has she not done beyond the normal?
*
It's not normal when manulife is not dropping while selina drop ~1%

manu could be luckier...that is why the annualised returns are 2% higher....
by looking at annualised returns...then it looks normal.....
if Am is higher than Manu...then it is not normal for Manu....

look at annualised for longer term judgement, not monthly Navs movement.....
AM could have changed stock holdings, maybe disposed of high valued stocks and bought lower valued stocks and are waiting the lower valued stocks to performed, while Manu could still be holding the currently hot good horses which could be over valued currently.

also maybe Am held to much hedge on currency than Manu.....which was affected by the recent strengthening of MYR.....

look at annualised return and volatility ratio between the two......the results are constantly within my expectation.....
*
I am expose to s-reits. There's not much sell down despite XD. Basically most s-reits continue to inch up. I can't speak for reits listed in Australia/thailand but my 2 s-reit which owns AU property is also doing well. So it's a wierd.
During last nov/dec, there was a reit melt down. Amasia and manulife was not spared.

If drop by 0.x% ya acceptable. But this drop by at least 1% and manulife is not dropping. Something doesn't seem right hmm.gif

Hi, may I know why u said so?
Yea I saw the balanced funds, but better not put all eggs in one basket right? Hence, I'm looking at recommended balance portfolios instead, I just find it weird that none of the recommended portfolios consist of any balance funds, just high risk and low risk funds.
*
Rhb small cap fiasco. Hint: U-li

You can do your very own balanced portfolio too. Increase your bond funds holdings/reit holding.
