QUOTE(kart @ Dec 29 2018, 07:59 PM) Just to summarize, is the following method a better way to perform dollar cost averaging (DCA), in general for any unit trusts? It is difficult to predict the market, while your understanding is correct, it is just theory. If one can predict how the market will go in the next few months, one can be filthy rich.1) Downtrend in NAV is anticipated over the next few months. - Completely stop DCA. Deploy the fund (meant for DCA) for e-fixed deposit, or in money market. 2) Downtrend severity in NAV starts to reduce (NAV price curve starts to reduce and gradually flattens), with the possibility of NAV rebound within the next month (economy may start to be better) - Perform DCA with partial fund. 3) NAV starts to rebound, with uptrend in NAV expected within the next few months. - Perform DCA, with full intended fund every month. Is my understanding correct, about the proper way to perform DCA? Appreciate a few tips, from FundSuperMart expert inventors here. |

Anyone is going to the FSM event on 19 Jan? Do we just have to register for the event then we are good to go? The event is mainly about listening to talks right? (For those who had attended the events in previous years)

Why is this thread so quiet today? Nobody went to the event?
The talks are pretty informative imo. Most of the fund managers in the talks today recommended China. Which fund are you guys topping up? |

QUOTE(xcxa23 @ Jan 19 2019, 05:43 PM) jan 2019 The guy from Affin is the only one who touched on bonds. He mentioned that diversification is key in 2019, although bonds have fairly lower return as compared to equities.Eastspring Investments Equity Income Fund CIMB-Principal Asian Equity Fund CIMB-Principal Asia Pacific Dynamic Income Fund - MYR CIMB-Principal China Direct Opportunities Fund - MYR last week topped up on these.. what else do they said/share? wanted to go but WORK gotta find more bullet Affin Hwang Select Income Funds I forgot which fund house is this from. But there was this question that is directed to him asking why that one particular fund (i forgot which fund it is) dropped so much, and why is the fund focus so heavily in Malaysia equities. The guy said that due to the funds nature of focusing on small cap funds and that Malaysia small cap funds experienced a sharp decline of >30% over last year thats why the fund suffered. He further advised that one should not have a fund that focuses on small cap equities as their 'core' investment as it is just simply way too risky. Such honesty. |

QUOTE(MUM @ Jan 30 2019, 07:40 PM) Glooms spreads to Chinese provinces BEIJING: More Chinese provinces have cut their annual growth targets in 2019 than the year before, a sign of deepening pessimism among local governments amid weakening domestic demand and an prolonged trade dispute with the United States. Of China's 31 provinces, regions and municipalities, at least 23 cut their economic growth targets for this year, according to provincial announcements this month. In 2018, 17 provinces set lower targets. "I personally believe the trade tensions could ease temporarily in March, but they won't be resolved once and for all. The US won't easily give it up, and the pressure could come back in the (US) election of 2020." said Yu Pingkang, chief economist at Changjiang Pension Insurance Co in Shanghai https://www.bangkokpost.com/business/world/...vinces#cxrecs_s |
