Yes, thing is consumer like me dominate the market, not content creator. I'm paying to game. So despite the benchmark shows a very large performance for content creator. That isn't what I want. What I'm expecting for is just a cheap quad core which has better single thread performance. Heck I don't even want to buy a CPU for over MYR 2k price.

Feel free to correct if I'm wrong.

I'm using 1700X with Crosshair VI Hero and Corsair Vengeance LED 8GBx2 3000MHz CL15.

I can't push my RAM push over 2666MHz at all.

Couldn't find one for R5 1500X. No benchmark on Total War though. 

For editing 4k videos, should I go with 1600 or 1600k ?

What happened there? So Nvidia driver also crapped out in DX11 when using Ryzen proc?

4.0Ghz is the turbo speed.

I got mine to 4.0Ghz and pass the common benchmarks with 1.45vcore though, that's quite hot.

guys, ryzen 5 1500x idle / gaming temperature around 40~50+ is it normal? using air cooler dark rock 3 and open hardware monitor.

because there is a RMA form at their website that mention can send the product back to them for warranty claim.

You want to know how many of my working RAM refuses to work on Ryzen setup?

OK nmind I tell you - I have at least 10 sticks of DDR4 that are not working with my Ryzen rigs. 4 of them from HyperX Savage (that's 4x 8GB), 6 of them are from Avexir, regardless 4 or 8GB models (2x 4GB, 4x 8GB).

In terms of GB that's more than 50% of the DDR4 sticks that I have.

I have 6 other sticks that confirmed working with Ryzen, they are the Corsair Vengence LPX, Apacer Blade Fire and Apacer Panther. I got another 2 sticks of Apacer Blade Fire that I haven't test on it.

NOT WORKING just means NOT WORKING, meaning tak dapat guna aka tak jalan.

I've not encountered any UNSTABLE RAM.

It's either they work or don't work at all.

1700 and 8700K are in different league.
8700K is in between 1700x and 1800x in heavy multi-threaded applications.
When a 6c/12T can beat/match 8c/16T in heavy multi-threaded applications, it tells you the "turbo engine" raw performance in 8700K is in total different league.
Put the games aside, from web browsing to word processing, the real world scenarios on most applications are way more snappy on i7.

I have not seen a review rated i7-8700K lower than Ryzen 1700x (let alone the vanilla Ryzen 1700).
Most of the reviews use premium ram modules (DDR4 3000MHz and above, tight timings) on Ryzen test system.
Whereas, Coffee Lake is pretty much optimized with just 2666MHz value ram modules. (See memory speed/tight timing scaling on both system here and here) Factor in the cost for premium ram modules. 
(I'm not saying you cannot use value ram modules on Ryzen system. You just get lower performance than below chart if you use value ram modules).
