Ok found the issue.
The MSI command center was set to that vcore.
change to default auto and now is fine.

i notice that i cant make any changes on bios.
probably all changes to be done in this msi command center.

guise, what board to go for? MSI b350m mortar arctic or Asrock ab350m Pro4 ?

on Memory QVL list, MSI have plenty more than Asrock, but ofc user feedback is much important than qvl list
*
get the MSI

Asrock B350 boards have kinda crappy VRMs

https://ibb.co/muwEMG this is how the ram looks like, not sure if its dual channel or single.. but 32gb single channel or 8gb dual channel is faster? Or 64gb.. lol

My mobo is Asus Prime B350M-A

dual channel memory gives significant improvement over high ram speeds especially in gaming. if you just browse internet or doing spreadsheets. of course it doesn't really matter lol

in regards to high memory speeds, it benefits more if you have a high end graphics card like 1070/1080/Ti or Vega56/64. With mid range or lower, the difference is probably negligible.
But it wouldn't hurt to get a DDR4-3000 these days because some kits are not that much expensive compared to DDR4-2400~2666. It's a nice performance bump to run at 2933 or 3066 MT/s as compared to 2400 MT/s

hi guys, need some input on a mid-range ryzen 5 build.
currently on an upgrade phase.
my PC is more used for multitasking (dual screen), multiple firefox tabs with javascript open), with discord and maybe adobe PS open at the background. add some light gaming (dota2 and such.. nothing fancy)

about 4yrs old now
AMD FX8320
AMD R7 260

was considering between the 1500X and the 2400G (price points look similar)
if I add in a GTX1060 card or a RX580 card, should I take the 2400G over the 1500X?
*
regardless what chipset motherboard you will be using, the 2400G has better memory controller and more tolerant to high speed memory kits compared to 1500X.
1500X has bigger L3 cache and full 16x pci-e 3.0m but the performance advantage can be negligible depending on situation.

but if you don't intend to buy those expensive high speed memory kits, you could stick with 1500X and just keep your R7 260 for light gaming, and upgrade the GPU later down the line.

WTAsk:

Currently does MSI X470 Gaming Plus has any problem ?

will 2600x suitable to pair with the upcoming budget B450 ?

Thanks.

MSI X470 Gaming Plus so far is the best value X470 board. Even buildzoid used it for testing and kind of recommend it. He even managed to run memory at 3600mhz CL12 with 2700X

B450 boards will work out of the box with Ryzen 2000 series without problem.

May I know have you gotten your build yet? Where is a good place to get?
I like Idealtech pricing but they do not have ASRock Mobo listed.

I am hoping a place like Idealtech which would help build for free and also get everything with them.
C-zone, Viewnet etc seems high priced.  Any recommendations? Preferably with credit card installments.

My shortlisted items (not using for gaming)
AMD Ryzen 5 2400G - idealtech rm716
ASRock Fatal1ty AB350 Gaming-ITX - lelong rm450
CORSAIR SF450 (SFX) (80+ GOLD/MODULAR) - idealtech rm379

I need recommendation on RAM, have been advised by Goldfries to get 3000mhz above running dual.
Can a single 8Gb 3000mhz run at dual? I don't really need 16GB.
Whats a good stable Ram brand to get so to avoid the problem i read that ram speed not running optimal? Apacer seems to work for some.
*
if you don't care about performance, then go single channel with single stick of RAM

but if in any case you want to go into gaming, or doing heavy workloads like photo/video editing or encoding, you will regret not getting dual channel RAM ... performance loss is like 20~30% depending on application and the speed of ram you're running.

Ryzen APU optimum ram setup
- dual channel RAM
- minimum 2933mhz

Stupid question. Dual channel ram means 2 strip ? So in this case I need 2x8gb 3000mhz minimum?
*
yes 2 sticks placed in the proper ram slots is a mandatory requirement for dual channel setup. refer to motherboard manual for details.

Just quick grabbed 1500X brand new on Lelong at RM389. I know imma bit ketinggalan zaman since 2000 series are already in the market, but I intend to upgrade again when the 3000 series comes out blush.gif
Also got Tomahawk B450.

Waiting for everything to arrive, and then finally say goodbye to my good old LGA1155
