The thing is.... you must be the judge. If they get along well, then ok lah, a clan is ok. But if they always bully each other and fight on and off.... even if no blood or wounds also, it is better to separate coz bullying is dangerous as well.

I've had hamsters for many years but of course, breeding only a few years but then with all the experience and reading, it is better to keep them single. Those cages sold at petshops, the sizes are all wrong. I only see the best are habitrail.... easier to clean than other cages. Tanks and storage boxes are the best so far coz easier to clean than cages and healthier.

Hamsters have short lives, so we must do what we can to give them a comfortable environment to live out the 2 years....

Petshop hamsters can be tamed... but it takes time and effort. It also depends on luck. Some hamsters will attack aggressively while some are so shy, they will run like see ghost. Get from breeders is the best lah, no need so much time to tame. But of course, it depends on luck.

LOL... why you all still blur blur? RC that change colour, means it is not pure RC... it has been crossbreed with WW.... last time I had before.... it is RC colour and RC aggression but then it can change colour but very slight. It won't go whole white like a WW and it won't change so often also.... just slight changes in the white patches....

oooic...biasa la hun...i am blurr person...
at first i also though like that..becoz pudding (rc and ww mixed) can change..but i though i am wrong la heheh..rupa2nya rite..
mixed version sometime look interest aaa.
rc can change colour waa...but the owner must relize la..got a non-pure breed rc...luckily i got all my dwarf from breeders hehe
*
Pudding is hybrid.... but not a direct hybrid... it is through generations and generations.... RC and WW mix in 1 generation is just a mixture..... Puddings have gone through so many breedings of inbreeding and outcrossing till come out pudding.

Ever had an old PC monitor that you are not using? Why not change it into a DIY hamster tank... I think this looks wonderfully nice.

Just set a cage trap... those for rats ah but the cage kind. Hang a piece of chicken and wait for next day. Sure can catch back.

I had a hamster lost in my room for 1 week before.... as long you place a few pieces of food around and a small bowl of water near the closet should be fine. But just a bit of food... coz you don't want him to be too full when you set the trap. You want him hungry so he will go into the cage.

Yups, what Jason said is true. Rabbit food is actually alfalfa sticks... or alfalfa pellets... no taste to the hamster coz hamsters love grains.

What you can do is go to an organic shop, get pumpkin seed and buckwheat to mix into your current hamster food, they will sure love it. Hahahah.... millet too. Lentils are also nutritious but avoid beans. Hamsters love cashew nuts!

Stoning means just stand still.... Robos sometimes do it more hahahah.... normally this is natural in the wild, when they hear predators or something strange, they will stand still to blend with the environment.... but as pets, they stone whenever they feel like it. Fat Tailed gerbils stone whenever it is on someone's palm.... hahah.

Today go see the pearls in PLC with hun. Only left two, one is pearl and another one was pudding. Thats wat i heard from hun la. So choose carefully if u wanna get a pearl.
*
Hahah... finally you have Charm boy with you. Now his cousin lonely hahah... but in due time he will get used to it. Last night I gave them steam chicken, finished till the bone.... so I can tell you Charm likes chicken meat.

Pet Lovers Center in SP has new stock of WW... but very young. Like just weaned.... looks like my 2 WW pups that just weaned. Becareful when buying, I saw some which are sickly coz got too many in 1 tank, no space so they can easily get sick.

Only left 1 pearl, a bit skinny and not very good looking. The puddings also left 2 or 3, quite ok. The old WW sapphire and agouti stock are better to get.

Yuna,
No need to cut their nails.... if you cut it wrongly, you will get a hamster that will be scared of you. A drop of blood to them is like us losing half a bag of blood.... so it is stressful for them.

Did charm finish all his food most of the time? i see him left some food now, never finish all. its the mix u give me. maybe not used to his new home yet. Wah, steam chicken. Farewell treat ah? ^^
Well, he is in good hands, i will take good care of him till he's old.

Yuna, ur ham really knows where to hide lol
*
New lah, let him get used to his new environment.... he won't finish all in 1 day. Takes a few days to finish 1 bowl.

Hamsters, especially the dominant ones hate it when you place fingers at the cage bars.... they also dislike people putting fingers in front of their face. Natural instinct make them bite. Always offer the back of your hand or a fist for a hamster to smell first and then only pick it up.

Must understand, hamster got poor eye sight and they mostly act on instinct. Hamsters can only see clearly at things 6cm in front of them, further than that or things right in front of their faces they cannot see.

Today just let charm roam on mah bed while i was unpacking my books. Those short bed la.
One moment i saw him movin around and curiously exploring. turn my eyes off him less than a few sec, he's half way climbing down the floor clinging on my bed sheet sweat.gif

Too eager to explore i guess  rclxm9.gif

Hun, his food can put on for few days kah? wont it be get lembik or taste less after exposed to the air so long without sealed?  tongue.gif

Used to be givin fresh food to hams haha...
*
Hahah... Charm is an explorer. He cannot sit still wan. If I place him on my palm while sitting, he will climb up my arm, fall onto my lap, then walk off and climb up again.

No, the food won't go soft or anything. It is seeds and pellets, not potato chips mah hahah. He only needs 1 tablespoon a day only.

Hahaha... yah.... so the rely more on smell and sound. This is why they are nocturnal.

Yuna, dont sit at front then. Later he wake up and crawl out then ur lecture gonna charge extra for him to learn in the class  tongue.gif  U know la how strict sunway with their fee's  whistling.gif  Haha...
btw, your pencil case gonna be his 2nd home i guess lol

Hun, i noticed charm sleep by lie on the box only, maybe the breeder celect not comfy to sleep in he just shove it all aside. wonder what will happen if i put in tissue lol
last night just play with him let him crawl on me while i lie on bed, then he go inside my shirt blush.gif
After that i found out got hamster poo inside my shirt sweat.gif

Btw, his poo soo like hmm.... dry and thin, does he used to use bottle to drink or  just i think too much lol, maybe didn't drink enought water? dunno la, use to see my other hams big round wet poo  doh.gif
*
Pushing the bedding away is normal lah. Coz hot, be it wood pellets or wood shavings or the BC, hamsters if they feel warm will push away the bedding to sleep. You got put hay for him? Yes, you can put some tissue paper inside also.

He drinks alot of water wan. But the poo being dry is normal for hamsters.

Aiyoh, which way is better? Risky or safe way? If you get caught then what would happen to your pet?

Permit is Rm10 or Rm20 only.... health cert is just a form a vet fills out for you to say that your hamster is healthy.
