OMG!! Why is she cannibalising her pups???? Earlier on, i saw left 7 pups and now she's still eating the pups. I didn't hear any sound from the pup. Could it be she's eating the "previous dead" pup OR shes' eating the "living pup" ?????? No one kacau her ler . why she cannibalise ??? rclxub.gif

or is it because she thinks that she's too weak after giving birth and need some nutrition, so she cannibalise her pups ???? I have no idea how many pups has she cannibalised coz she's still eating so happily away vmad.gif doh.gif

Normally, i feed her with hamster mix, mealworms and some kibble. Sometimes if got boil chicken, then will give to her too lor.

I jz noticed she was eating the dead pup. Still got 7 alive. In total got 8. Phew~ sweat.gif. I thot she was cannibalising the living pups again. And I noticed the pup she cannibalised was actually the smallest size one. The rest are like getting bigger a bit.

no more eating. I jz put some mealworms on a bowl and put in her tank slowly and without any sound. She's sleeping now - baru habis eating the dead pinky. I think the pup she ate shud be the unhealthy one coz da size is the smallest among all its siblings.

ya .. that one maybe not healthy one , so she ate her up. By the way anizarina, don't buy the mushroom bottle just for the sake of the pups. The pups will not be able to reach at all coz the walls are actually quite high. I don't think ur pup will be able to reach it. Even my robos need to stand up to drink from that mushoom like bottle. It'll be a waste of money. But wud other solutions, i have no idea. Maybe wait for reanne or crazymouse's reply coz they have experience ady tongue.gif.

i c ... asking that on behalf for azarina .. and I myself wanna noe too tongue.gif .. Still dunno my 7 pups will survive or not. Only 3 days old and the smallest one was cannibalised by da mommy today.

i put some mealworms in a clean bowl for the mommy syrian these few days. She doesn't seem to be eating other food except mealworms whole day long. Is that fine?? I didn't see her eating her hamster mix at all. She's been eating mealworms for these few days for all meals wor ..

I never agree with using those metal wire cage. A lot of disadvantages:
1. Hamster's legs might get stuck to it.
2. Hamster will bite - BISING!
3. All the shavings might come outta cage when the hamster dig holes.
4. Will rust - poisonous when da hamster go and bite or lick it.

Those toyogo container will only cost u around RM 30 which I think is about the same price as those metal wire cage lar. It's jz that u need to spend extra RM 20 to get a bowl and water bottle and running wheel. RM 30 - u can get a super big toyogo already which is super spacious for them. If u think that consume a lot of space and u don't have the space, u could get the one below RM 20. Jz like mine, i bought one new one the other day for RM 13.90 only neh - cheap and spacious for one syrian only - about the siez of 2ft aquarium tank. The choice is up to u tho tongue.gif.

oh ya .. the 7 pups are healthy and getting bigger a bit. I can see clearer markings today and I assume there'll be one or two that look(s) like daddy thumbup.gif

I bought mine at carrefour too - cheaper at carrefour (i think tongue.gif). For me, I use screw driver and burn it until hot hot. Then I pierce thru the container lor to put the head of the water bottle. THen I use small nail - burn until hot hot again) - and pierce two holes on top to hang the water bottle. I use candle to burn tongue.gif coz I dun haf soldering iron.... hehe.

dun think it's orite for gerbils. Gerbils are good escaper unless if u cover the top with wire mesh or some other stuffs biggrin.gif.

Got one looks like agouti ww to me .. hehe. Mine can see marking only and it's still pink with some black markings. So i still kenot verify the colours yet. But can see very tiny tiny fur starting to grow. Got one pup - the largest one among all - his ears popped up today; So cute neh rclxm9.gif. I might decide to keep a few of the pups depending on the colour varieties. Will plan on breeding project after exams. LOVER SYRIANS!!! wub.gif

Added on April 13, 2007, 1:49 amRC(s) are almost similar to Syrians. They come in varieties of colours and markings. The only main differences are :

1. Syrians are SOLITARY ; RC can live in groups.
2. Syrians are HUGE ; RC are dwarves.
3. Syrians hardly ever bite ; RC (from petshops) BITE!! sweat.gif
