offline raid is also not a proper backup solution. It only delay the data sync for a day or depend on sync frequency.
Best solution is to use a combination of RAID (for hardware failure) and offsite backup (for other disasters). This is a MUST for people dealing with photography. The data is just too important to skimp on any of these.
BTW, this is off topic. We can discuss this in detailed in another thread.

Dare not to do OTA update yet bcoz my phone is rooted.
Can someone pls guide me?
My current MIUI is 8.1.4.0 (MHOMIDI) Stable & rooted using method posted on first page. My phone is RN3 SD 2G RAM/ 16G ROM. I think mine is Kenzo based on dimension.
I've questions regarding OTA. 1) Can I upgrade when OTA is available? Will OTA brick my rooted phone? 2) What will happen after OTA in terms of the 'bootloader' & 'root' status?
TQ.
you need to unroot the phone first using SuperSU. Once that is done only you can upgrade the firmware using OTA. After upgrade, you need to re-root the phone. Make sure to use the root guide for the new firmware version. Sometimes old root will cause brick if applied to wrong firmware version.
Since its bad, just change to other launchers. I changed since the 1st day I gotten mine after only using MIUI for around 1~2 hours. ( Just changing launcher, not flashing )
changing to another launcher is only wasting resources. A lot of miui is already integrated into the system that will still run even when you use another launcher. That i why i had to endure with miui.
is nougat coming to redmi note 3? I am now on global 8.1.1.0. Too lazy to upgrade to 8.2.3.0 cause not having issue with the phone. So no point upgrading. Just wait until upgrade to nougat. But looks like xiaomi might have abandoned this phone already.
Xiaomi have a history of abandoning their phone from firmware updates after less than 1 year of release. The reason why RN3 is getting more support is because this phone is top selling in India. You know those people will complain like crazy if xiaomi abandon them. So hope that there will be nougat update for RN3.
Looks like not many RN3 on the market now ... not much listed on online website,,
if you just want RN3 for collection then get it. But if want to use it, RN4 is okay. Don't be like some of those geeks here who think 100 points difference in geekbench will make a difference between heaven and earth. In real life, there are not much difference when you open apps like whatsapp or facebook or candycrush. Nobody runs geekbench or antutu everyday.
RN4, runs with less heat and less battery. In fact, I would say SD625 is current one of the most optimized mid range chip from qualcomm.
In fact, I don't mind swapping my RN3 with RN4 if anyone is interested.
ok. i hve already disable the auto start. may i know how to disable auto upload of photos? thanks!
go to your micloud and change what you want to backup and what you don't want to backup. You can also adjust the backup from daily to weekly and so on.
i think using powerbank to charge phones are generally unhealthy for phones. Cause you will be still using the phone while it is being charged.
Generally you need to charge when it is almost empty and let it charge. Don't use it while it is charging cause this is cause power fluctuation. If you want the battery to last longest..charge it up to 85% only. This will make the battery last 1-2 years longer. But heck..who would charge up to 85% only..lol.
I also do not use powerbank. Since this RN3 is my second phone..i have enough phones to last me 1 day without charging.
i said using powerbank is unhealthy because you are using the phone while charging. That is not good for the battery. If you leave it to charge with powerbank then it's fine.
second..need to charge when it is almost empty. What I am saying is to only charge when it is almost finish so that you don't need to keep charging the phone. Use it up as much as possible and reduce the charging frequency. The 0% cycle charge is just to refresh the battery % indicator and if indicator is still fine no need to wait until 0%. There are no extra benefit or disadvantage.
Now having said that..what I am saying is a general guideline that I use for myself. It may not be the best way to preserve battery but it does help to make it last longer without too much hassle. I am not going to go crazy with the extra things to do to make battery last longer. It is all about convenience vs long lasting battery.
Yes, afternoon shots look the best. But of course you'd want to shoot indoors too. Can't help with that. Also, smartphone cameras has small viewing angle. If you want a wider shot gonna need to buy one of those RM30 clip on wide angle lens. I can't shoot images in cramped places, so annoying.
seriously speaking, the redmi series is the last phone you would want to buy for it's camera. Before I got the phone, I already know the camera is not good. The stupid reviews done by youtubers from are hyping it that it's good and so on. Once I got the phone, I found that the camera is totally useless. I can't even take any decent indoor picture. I will have to have very still hands and I have to ask my subject not to move. So taking candid pictures is out of the question. For everything else, the redmi series are great cheap phone.
root flash twrp download kernel radon from xda install radon using twrp. choose quick charge option. install any kernel software (i use kernel adiutor) for other function
nice! thanks for the simple guide.
One more question, is this kernel stable like current miui kernel? Does it matter which version of miui rom that I am using to patch this kernel?
hmm..done a bit of googling on this kernel. Looks like it does not support marshmallow based miui. Or does it?
