Hey guys I'm about to get the Navigator in couple days time, so thought I might as well pop by this dedicated thread for 6110 enthusiasts.

My unit is gonna be an Aussie one, dont think got anything significantly different from Malaysian Avaxx/Zitron sets. Here no AP set anyway. I read on the cnet.com site they say the 6110 ships with mainly Singapore, Bangkok and Australian maps, is that true? this is in addition to the local maps of the country from which the unit was purchased. Maybe the ppl who already own the 6110 can clarify this? Another thing I have noticed is that there's been lots of questions about getting Malaysian maps onto the 6110. Is the Malaysian maps not at all pre-installed or is it lacking? In any case to get the Malaysian maps on the unit, this is what I gathered from reading the previous pages. Correct me if Im wrong k.

So first dl Smart2go from the website plus Maploader--->run and install the smart2go first on PC then on 6110 by USB---->open the smart2go on the mobile at least once---->run and install Maploader on PC then phone---->open Maploader and select Malaysian maps?

So is the Maploader a program with a database of maps or do we need to seperately dl Malaysian maps into Maploader? Im still noob when it comes to GPS stuff, would appreciate your feedback...

ps. I will be getting my Navigator from a store on eBay for AUD$570, that's about RM1,700 with 12 mths Nokia warranty. I think thats about the going price for ori Avaxx units in Malaysia is it?
*
The 6110 Navigator ships with maps of the country it's sold in, eg in Malaysia, it's shipped with Malaysian maps. There no other countries' maps in it.

Malaysian maps for Symbian S60 in general is pretty outdated, so using it is pretty useless, until someone or some company comes out with a complete and updated version. PPCs fare better in this aspect with very updated maps! smile.gif Thanks to Malsingmaps! thumbup.gif

You pretty much got the Maploader thingy correct. smile.gif And it's where you choose the corresponding map into your phone, which is better than downloading it directly into your phone which is costly if you're not on unlimited data package.

The Navigator now retails for RM 1,6xx. So the price you're getting is slightly expensive by local standards. smile.gif

If navigation button pressed then wat application will display??
Izzit NavFone pro??

Just wan to ask..Cz i not NK6110 user.. laugh.gif

Route66 will be initiated.

I don't think I can change it to launch other apps as it's hot wired into it.

QUOTE(nairud @ Jul 22 2007, 12:23 PM)
How outdated is the s60 maps?
*
Ermm... Route66 does not include PJ at all.

NAVFone does, but still not really updated.

Nokia maps are OK, but no voice navigation.

Someone has got Mapking to work, but I failed to download for reasons I don't know of.

mstr583: What do you mean by Navigation gotta pay >60 days? Do you mean the function which finds your location on the earth and leads you to wherever you wanna go? If thats the case means after 60 days you are just left with a phone with maps? Can clarify? Quite unsure myself...
*
I think he's referring to N95's case whereby you have to pay after 60 days if you want to navigate turn by turn with voice.

I don't think this applies to the 6110 Navigator though. Nothing is mentioned when I initiate either Route66 or NAVFone. smile.gif

QUOTE(edkiasu @ Jul 23 2007, 11:20 PM)
Is the GPS for 6110 navi same as the smart2go one?
*
Smart2Go is not installed in the 6110 Navigator by default.

Default mapping apps for the Navigator is Route66 and NAVFone by Agis.

Oic.. sadly my ap set didn't come with it .. but found a way to get the application online..
try to use smart2go.. but it didn't have voice naviation and still exploring the features ..  shakehead.gif
As for the Navfone, I try to use it yesterday but all the navigation is not so accurate and map also outdated.. that why all the way ... it appear out of route, re-route now ...  mad.gif
hope there will be better map or application in the future..
*
Well, NAVFone, no matter how outdated it is, is still better than Route66 especially when you frequent PJ and its surroundings.

Route66 is only good if you stay, work and travel around KL only.

Guys we are supposed to open the smart2go (Nokia Maps) in our HP at least once right after we have installed it correct? This step is necessary before installing the Map Loader. Question of the day: Where is the Nokia Maps program in the HP for me to open? I mean after installing it in the HP where does it land up to?

Btw got my Navigator 2 days back, and the Aussie maps are really good and detailed. Even the small backlanes are detailed. But one thing in common with everyone's device is that the Pedestrian mode always finds us a much longer route when in actual fact you can just take a shorter cut. So when the device calculates the distance as 10km, I found myself able to find the location in just 3km! Driving-wise the calculations are good.

It should be located in:

Which shop did you go to? And what set did you enquire for? AP or Ori?

QUOTE(yewkhuay @ Jul 31 2007, 01:53 PM)
there must be a reason y not even used for 1month....
*
People change phones for various reasons, for example not used to it, or maybe bought the phone only realize it's not their cup of tea.

I personally to try out phones like one of the forummer pointed out, so trust me, there's nothing wrong with the phone, if that's what you're concerned about.

I'm just moving on to another phone.

Anyway, if you decide to consider my White Avaxx set, which you can get instantly without waiting, then please do PM or call me.

Cheers! biggrin.gif

Crashing? Nope, it's one of the most stable Symbian OS phones I've used in recent times. smile.gif

Battery life largely depends on your usage, mine can last around 1.5-2 days depending on usage too.

Smart2Go is free, voice navigation is not.

Malaysian map can be obtained from Nokia.com's maploaded application which allows you to transfer maps from your PC into your phone. smile.gif

Hey guys, which software is the best to use if going down to Kuatan? I know for free, the only option would be Smart2Go. If i'm willing to pay to unlock Asia Maps, would the maps be better and more detailed with free voice navigation?
*
Asia Maps aka NAVFone already comes with voice navigation. smile.gif

The one without it is Route66 but it covers KL only.

Hi sonyclie77,

I would appreciate a lot if you can share w me where I could obtain free detailed map of say...Pahang or Kelantan for viewing purposes on my navigator.
Thanks,

I read that Nokia maps are the most comprehensive among all maps for Symbian S60.

Alternatively check out MapKing for Symbian S60 as well which has just been launched.
